Thank you for a wonderful breakfast. This is my second time here, first for dinner then breakfast and both times the food has been delicious and the service fantastic. Why go anywhere else when I can go to the Bicycle Thief.
We had 2 entree dishes and 3 main dishes , every dishes were so delicious. Even customer services was so good. Thanks for served best food and best services. Definitely we gonna come back
Went to the Bicycle Thief for lunch. Staff and service is lovely. Food was good. I had the pork belly. Prices are high for lunch, more like a dinner price and menu. Would of liked a lighter lunch menu. Decor and environment is great!
Absolutely beautiful cafe, great staff and delicious food! I will most definitely be back. The brioche French toast is to die for! I also tried the salmon hash... delish!
Would definitely come back!
ATMOSPHERE: A few seats up front and quite a few tables out back to enjoy on a nice warm day. Inside has private side rooms which were good and intimate. There were also cute booths you can sit it. Quite dark inside, very mood lighting
FOOD: I really enjoyed the pizza, we had the funghi and it was full of flavour with just enough blue cheese. The fries were really good as well and so was the gnocchi. The balsamic sauce with the gnocchi was slightly too sour for me but it was still good. The croquettes were also really good and full of mushroom flavour, could be a little bit crunchier though.
STAFF: Fantastic team working here, all the wait staff were super friendly and attentive with orders, water, dessert menu etc. They gave us some complimentary bread which was lovely because it was quite late in the day and they probably knew we were hungry. They take care of their customers here.
This place is simply one of the most beautiful rural cafes I've ever been to. Beautiful chick interior design plus nice relaxing but classy outdoor area.
Service was exceptional! All of the staffs made me feel super welcomed and comfortable even when I was dining alone. Super helpful with their recommendations. They even provide sunscreen and hat for sitting outside.
I ordered the avocado with sumac dukkah and smoked salmon. It presented beautifully with watercress salad and granola. It tasted as good as it looks and l loved every bite of it. The coffee was nice and strong which is what I needed. I also ordered the Italian soda (Aranciata Rossa), it was refreshing and delish!
If you are feeling up for it, the place is also biker friendly. It is a beautiful easy bicycle ride away.
Strolling around the surrounding areas as well after the meal, you won't be disappointed by it.
I dined here with my family for Sunday lunch. Luckily we booked a table because the place was packed. I was looking for a light lunch and unfortunately most of the options are very rich. We ended up with a real mix, cannelloni, Akaroa salmon, risotto and Carne Di Maile pizza. Our drink and food order was taken quickly but service became slow after that. All food arrived at approx. the same time and everyone enjoyed their food despite the richness. A nice restaurant in a beautiful setting that already has its popularity back.
Great little homely cafe with yummy coffee and a delicious looking menu - we only had takeaways (Coffee & amazing muffins!) on this occasion but I can't wait to come back and sample some actual food. 👍🏻❤️
Cute little restaurant with a unique atmosphere and pretty authentic menu. Lots of dietary options for vegans, vegetarians and gluten-free.
Great food, reasonably priced, not your standard dish choices with some very unique tastes going on. Great service and a cool chilled out atmosphere
What a great surprise was to discover this "hidden" gem. I had the best Italian pasta that I've tried in New Zealand so far, and the decoration and the service was great as well. I'm looking forward to trying their pizza next time I go there.
Absolutely fantastic food. We had no idea this little hidden gem was so close to us. The atmosphere is so cozy, pizza and pasta are delicious, and staff were super friendly and attentive. It looks like it would be a great spot to come For coffee as well.

Can't fault our experience today! Everything was fresh and delicious. Creamy pasta, authentic pizza, delectable salad and everything on the platter was of great quality and taste. Superb customer service! Will be back for dinner next time 😊
Great atmosphere, service was excellent as well as the food. Pork belly was on point, I don't usually like fennel but all the flavours on my plate married perfectly! Great place to visit if you're on the westside of Christchurch, lovely drive if you're not.
Great food, location, and setting. As a family we all enjoyed the food and the experience. My 7 year old son felt in love with the food and asked us to go there every Sunday ☺️
Perfect place to getaway from the city and the food and service are the best. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary.
Thanks to Claire for suggesting the specials on the menu especially the wine. ( I think we have a new favourite 😃)
We met her mom too, and she was lovely as well. Can’t wait to take our friends here again.
Finally visited this place after all these years been in the area. Was recommended by their sister restaurant in Rolleston and I think this is the best place to get away from all the hustle.
Loved Chorizo and prawns and restaurant ambience is absolutely beautiful. Thanks to the lady who looked after our party
Was a great place for a family dinner , I even came back a week after as the food was that good , and I'll definitely be back
Good service, staff and food need I say anymore.
The Bicycle Thief is situated just 10 minutes drive out of Christchurch. And is in a lovely historic building nestled between oak trees and winding roads.
Prices for a Dinner vary between $20 to $30
And desserts $10 to $15
Cozy, warm, relaxing decor and delicious food. Great selection of wine and beer, additional menus for vegan and gluten free (all of which was delicious). The staff were friendly, professional and cheerful, it was a wonderful experience!
The potato wedges were hot, crunchy and so good, the pasta dishes were fantastic, really lovely surroundings, service was quick and friendly
Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The carbonara was one of the best I’ve ever had- super thick and creamy! The pork belly was lovely too and the food is reasonably priced for how nice it is. Definitely recommend!!
Great food and service, but the booth tables can be a bit cramped if you have more than 4 people, plus the seats are a bit lacking in the padding department.
