Great Indian food full of flavour and generous servings. Ordered the Seekh Kebab entree which was decent. Had Kadhai chicken and mushroom masala for mains which were devine and flavoursome. Also had a keema naan which again was a generous serving. We ordered takeaway and the only thing that stopped me giving it a 5 was that it took about 40mins and it didn't seem busy either. Great food though!
We enjoyed our meals here. The service was polite and water was brought to the table. The decor is a nice modern style, but I feel like it's lacking in the Indian cultural vibe. Food was full of flavour and was tasty.
Very basic but pleasant and clean decor, friendly staff that are attentive and delicious food. Not the best in Chch but it certainly was very good, would go back! Also a mega plus is that it's BYO and it's in the entertainment book.
This place in the city centre serves great Indian food. The ambience has kept pace with modern times and the quality of food is great. The staff is overall friendly and courteous. Will go again.
Been here a few times since they opened. A bit hit and miss for me. Ordered lamb shish kebab. Large portion size and reasonably spicy. More than enough for one person. Suggest it's a shared entree to be honest. For mains I got khadai chicken and the better half got the mango chicken. They both looked similar due to the ever present red food colouring used extensively in many Indian restaurants around the world. Anyhow khadai was OK. Same with the mango chicken. Tried a mint infused paratha bread for a change rather than the standard naan I usually get. It was a bit dry and burnt but a nice flavour all the same!!! We will go back again but there are many other Indian restaurants around where the quality is a bit more consistent.
My absolute favourite place for Indian in Christchurch. The restaurant is small but well laid out, modern and clean, albeit a little too dimly lit.
They have a great selection of curries and generous portions to boot. I'm partial to the chicken korma but the palak kofta is a must-try as well.
Takeaways are no fuss and timely, and a little bit cheaper than dining in when ordering through the website which works a treat on mobile-- always a plus.
I'd highly recommend Himalaya to anyone who's curious; good food and friendly service all around.
The Makhni Chicken served here is just outstanding. I keep intending to try something else but the thought of the Makhni Chicken flavours is just irresistible! Service is good and fast. This is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in Christchurch.
Great fresh restaurant and amazing service, these guys have done a brilliant job and even though they were booked up they managed to fit the two of us in.
Fantastic service, brilliant food. Great Indian! We enjoyed delicious vegetarian curry, and the bonus naan bread was really tasty. Super great value! Would come again when visiting Christchurch. Our food was also prepared very quickly!
What a hidden little gem! This place is hands down one of the best authentic Indian restaurants in Christchurch.
We ordered the mixed platter which was served on a sizzling pan. The fish was absolutely devine, the paneer had a beautiful smokey taste from the tandoor oven.
For mains we had Butter Prawns and Lamb Manchester both medium and the spice was really good. The Butter sauce was the best I've ever had. We also ordered some breads - the cheese and garlic naan was out of this world, so cheesy and really well priced.
I'll be back and I'll also go out of my way to order take out from here too. Nice work team, your food is incredible.
Amazing atmosphere and staff.
Food had our tastebuds dancing!
If you want somewhere that has bang for your buck this is it! Don’t pass it by!
Let not the sleepy outside fool you. We came in on a quiet Tuesday evening at around 830pm and were delighted with a wonderfully charismatic waiter who recommended us the delicious cheesy gsrlic naan, channa masalla, paneer entree, and lamb. The food was unreal and the portions were generous, a must visit if you love quality food!!
Excellent food and service. Taste no word can describe it. Top quality and service. Pre book as it is booked before always. Lucky to have seat available. I will 200% recommend. Himalayan chicken was rocking. No regrets
Visiting Christchurch we found our hotel restaurant around the corner was full so went out and came across the Himalayas. We always enjoy Indian food but are usually disappointed in restaurants as it is our house speciality at home. We were delighted with both the food and the service. Really good by our own high standards and would highly recommend. Just sorry that we live on the other side of NZ.
We- my partner and myself- had just arrived from Melbourne the day before with a 20 month old toddler, and was thinking about an easy take away Macca's meal to eat at the hotel. However, a Facebook reel that I watched made me want some naan and chicken. And aren't we glad we went to Himalayas! We ordered a plate of onion paccoras and chicken tikka to start and butter chicken and kadhai goat as mains. Despite the fact that every mains come with fluffy perfectly cooked basmati rice as complementary, we still ordered 2 garlic naans. Suffice to say we surprised ourselves by cleaning up the plates to the last bits possible as everything that we ordered were soo tasty and we could have had more, only if we had the appetite! Perfect flavours, perfect portions and great ambiance and very friendly staff. Not much more you could ask for. We'll definitely come back here again, whenever it be that we visit Christchurch again. Thanks team 😊
P.s - we were too busy eating that I only got one photo here, just a pint of KF beer on tap 😀
We had dinner here after a long day. The food was simply outstanding. I had the Chicken Dhansak, and oh my, what a dish! The meat was so succulent, the vegetables were tender and the spices were delicious. My husband had the Lamb Vindaloo which was also very good. The Naan was both crispy and soft, quite a feat. The service was also excellent. Nice casual decor and a small bar. Highly recommend!!
Outstanding food and great service- nothing is a problem. have only been 3 times since it's the other side of town from us, however definitely a go to place for a meal when in town. We'll be back!!
My wife and I visited recently for the first dinner of our honeymoon. The service was timely and polite, the atmosphere was relaxed, and our meal took only a few minutes to be served - best butter chicken we’ve had! It was mild but flavourful and the naan was freshly made. Delicious, highly recommend!
Outstanding Indian food, in good setting and the service by Moksh was 1st class. I had the chefs Himalayas Special chicken which was cooked to perfection, and my wife had lamb vindaloo Indian hot, which was also great. The garlic Naan was also great. We have our favourite Indian on the Gold Coast and this was as good if not better Thank you chef for our flavoursome dinner.
