Absolutely love the Pulp Fiction burger... it’s like a Big Mac but it’s actually bigger and better (you actually get full off it!). The meat is high quality, well seasoned and cooked. They even have vegetarian options for patties which work well with this burger. I find the chips remind me of the fish n chip shop (good or bad, depends on personal preference), the gravy is delicious and well made. The atmosphere inside is good , layout is accessible and the music selection add nice ambience. There is also an option to sit outside as well.
I have been here a few times now, and I'm never disappointed! The burgers are perfect, all the ingredients are fresh. The chips and gravy are some of the best I've ever had. I would recommend them to anyone. Definitely the best burgers I've had before.
Decent place. Very yummy burgers and chips. Affordable pricing, wide selection. Serving is huge too. Loved the chicken burger, very special patty. Would come again if possible.
Burgers and Beers make, in my opinion, the best (equal) burgers in Christchurch. And their chips and gravy are so. damned. tasty.
They used to be one of the pricier joints, but these days they are actually more affordable than their purple and blue neon-signed chain outfit down the road, and the burgers here are a lot better.
They aren't without flaws though; I gave the Cranford St branch a 4.5, but this branch gets 4. Its about time they moved really, because their original high street store was a much better size, and this one is poorly laid out, and just too small. The semi-outdoor area at the back is a bit of a joke, and the joke's on you if you're a non-smoker and people are smoking outside.
But the burgers. Oh, the burgers...
Must trys: Both Billy Beefs - best burgers in town. Chicken Pig - yesss. Shagged Stag - also yessss. Rest of the menu is decent too but these are the standouts IMO.
Great in-house ale, awesome burgers! The price was justifiable with the portion of food. Nice ambience with good service. Definitely going again soon!
These burgers are so delicious! Since going here I have craved another juicy burger from B&B.
Small wee place with a diner like setting, burgers are fairly priced for the big serving you get.
Can't wait to go back!
*Best fries ever!* the burgers were pretty good too. Although it was a huge mission to eat - bring your bibs guys. Because it was so hard to eat it wasn't as enjoyable as I would have liked but the blue cheese sauce was still bomb. The beers were OK drinkable just not to my taste. 4.0 rating defo due to the fries and gravy though
my weekly fix is the Billy Beef & Blue, which is simply a must for any fungi fans - the mushroom juice combines scrumptiously with the blue cheese dressing and succulent well seasoned pattie - the challenge is to handle the sizeable burger without too much of the exquisite juice exiting the burger - can't say I've needed to sample much of the menu, but the BB & Bearnaise (beef burger with onion rings & a tasty bearnaise sauce) is also top notch - as is the chips & gravy - it's true...you will never go back to American chain tucker again
Man what can I say.... I died and went to burger heaven!!!!
The King Julius Burger that we brought home to wash down with Bunderburg Apple Cider was awesome.... A huge soft burger bun with a lovely well cooked succulent chicken patty , rashes of fried bacon, fried egg, cos lettuce and the deliciously dripping Caesar dressing!!!! Yum yum!!!!
Honestly it was the best burger I had ever tasted.... And I won't demean it by comparing with the MacDonalds or KFCs... Those poor shumcks don't stand a chance.... Do have a taste of this awesome burger if you come to New Zealand!
We dined at B&B with our 2 year old boy, seated in a part of the restaurant that is towards the back. This part of the restaurant is essentially an outdoor covered section. It has a few small heaters but this room will be cold in Winter. As it was, it wasn't particularly warm this night either and it was cold.
Unfortunately most of the tables indoors were apparently booked, albeit empty for the entire time we dined. The outdoor area is covered in by a PVCish plastic and this did mean that we had a bit of cold air make its way to us ... but not just cold air, cigarette smoke from people choosing to smoke right next to the entrance at this part. Pretty horrible to put up with while you're eating.
It was apparently very busy the night we dined (remember, empty tables) and as a result food was very, very slow coming out. There was a long wait and an increasingly impatient 2 year old - burgers finally came out about 35 mins after arrival.
The burgers themselves were pretty good. The patties were well cooked and all the ingredients seemed fresh. I had the Pulp Fiction which I really liked. My son didn't end up making much of his food in the end, but it did at least go home with us.
Burgers and Beers has great burgers but the question is whether you are prepared to wait for it on those busy nights and whether you can put up with people smoking right outside the door. Personally, I can wait for good food ... but I can't stand cigarette smoke while I am eating. Hopefully if we do go again, we are inside and not out.
Love the burgers here. Love the GF & Vege options too! Excellent onion rings...absolute must -try! They also have a wicked $10 lunch deal which includes a burger, drink & fries with gravy! Cool diner if you're eating in, too :)
Awesome burgers and giant onion rings at a good price. Looks like an American diner style but not too glitzy.
Loved the burgers, they are more hearty, simple ones that you want on a cold Sunday afternoon.
Must visit.
Delicious! Definitely one of the best non-conventional burgers I've had. I tried the Wooly Sahara Sand Hopper and Kathleen got the Flaming Mexican. I was almost overwhelmed by all the different flavors but it was so good! We also shared some chips and gravy, which were spiced and cooked just right. Decent craft beer selection as well, but ciders are ridiculously expensive. Service was just ok, but didn't take away from the overall experience.
Absolutely tasty!!!! The chips and gravy and onion rings are fricken ridiculously good, I could eat just those as the meals, and they're huge sides! The burgers are also huge, my wee tiny hands struggled, they're yummy too. Only downfall was it was quite greasy and a bit more variety. Def an amazing hangover cure meal out. Awesome decor. Fabulous staff. Just couldn't rave enough. That gravy and chips though, omg!
Best burger place in Christchurch hands down, better than burger fuel and velvet burger. Open really late, great customer service and loyalty scheme and the Onion rings are too die for! :)
We were recommended to try this place for great burgers and chips. The place is quite basic and themed in 50's horror. But the burgers were great and chips were amongst the best eaten, which is the reason for going there. It was nice to wash down with a local brew and listen to the band playing in the car park outback.
I'll be back again when in town !
Great place to chill out and relax, my friend came over from Hawaii so I took her here and she loved the atmosphere which I totally agree is great. I totally recommend the Chips and gravy first up with extra gravy. I have never been out and got a tasty gravy and this one is awesome. I ordered the Fish burger which was firstly huge, and secondly really nice, really nice. My friend got the Kiwi Burger which she said made her glad to be home. Great staff and the prices are good and very reasonable. I have to agree with another review that the only thing is too much condiment in the burger which in some bites was wow when eating wasabi. But delicious.
Definitely worth the money! The food is very filling and tasty. The restaurant has a good laid-back atmosphere. There hasn't been much of wait for food the few times I have been there. My only complaint is that they are rather heavy on the condiments in the burger, which can be overpowering.
First timer at Burgers and Beers, went on the recommendation of a local. Burgers were fantastic, reasonably priced and a good selection of beers. Similar style burgers to Fergburger in Queenstown, which are equally great. Highly recommended.
I go here at least once week. I always get the Cheese retro burger or sometimes a beef burger and they are the best. The chips are absolutely the best chips you can get in Christchurch along with the gravy.
Big burgers!
DONT listen to the other reviewers they are working for other burger bars in direct competition.
A must for everyone to try!
We dined for tea on a Friday night. Friendly service, funky atmosphere. Has an American diner feel to it.
Had the fish burger and fries - excellent fish (extremely fresh fish, tasted like it had just been caught today) which was very fresh. Fresh lettuce and tomato, lovely tangy horseradish sauce. Very fresh bun. Very enjoyable and tasty meal.
We definitely will come back here again :)
Went to this for tea! Talk about awesome place! The food was great, specially the chips and gravy the atmosphere was awesome as well! Would go back any day!
Burgers is so yummy and so filling. The bun is like a pretzel buns, the vibe is good and very accommodating staffs. Very accessible and like one of the hidden gems of burger lovers in christchurch. Their fries is sooooo yummy, highly recommended. Their prices are reasonable. I would love to come and eat there again.
Great spot for casual burgers and beers. 4 stars for service as you have to go to the counter to order and there are no plates etc - casual boxed style only. Thanks for the great birthday dinner B&B!
Burger was amazing, squid was super yum - as per however they still ha ent fixed the super over battered onion rings =/ real shame as I loooove onion rings but ended up with what's in the attached photo. Staff upon pickup were super friendly.
Had a Pulp Fiction burger, really nice , love it.
Nice vegetarian (crumbled Camembert) and vegan (mushrooms and hummus) with good quality buns (and plenty of quality veges) burgers of decent size to fill one hungry punter.
Good beer and even pint glasses with handles! Highly recommended!
Bloody delicious burgers and who doesnt like beer? We really enjoyed our experience here. Tonnes of burger options to choose from, and the ability to pay a little extra to jazz up your burger is great. Highly recommend for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Fast and friendly service and lots of craft beer and cider options.
Blown away by the service.. Its my luxury burger choice and this place never lets me down.. I had the beef burger with the blue cheese in.. They got all sorts of burgers, they are the REAL Deal.. Regular burgers are big, and they have even larger ones that will feed 2 people easy.. Make sure you try the fries and onion rings...
My partner and I were just passing by, we thought the decoration and simplicity of the place was very attractive. We shared a big size burger with some sides and we got pretty full. They cut it in halves for us to share, presentation was amazing and the flavor was powerful. Definitely we would like to give other stuff in the menu a go.
Pulp fiction and bird pig are the go to, plus cannot go pass the chips and gravy. Definitely a great place for burgers and a catch up.
First of all the service here is great!! I didnt get the girls name but she helped me decide on what to try. The food was amazing I had 1 burger and ordered another to take away 🤤 along with fries and onion rings which was my favorite part of this meal! It was so good I ate it before I took a photo. Pretty neat spot to be at on a lunch break 😍 I would definitely go there again when in Christchurch!
Has not changed burgers are the same absolutely awesome.
It has its own atmosphere.
Burgers and beers always delivers the goods. More expensive than your other fast food type burgers, but you get a really fresh tasting and large burger for the price. The chips and gravy also compliment any meal. Service is always great

Great burgers and sides! Absolutely enjoyed the burgers. Great price. Convenient location. Clean place and friendly staff.
The staff have great banter, always busy all the time. Burgers are huge and well priced. Chips and gravy is the best, great place to go for a midnight snack with friends as it's open late
The burgers are fresh and are really good, I will definitely be back.
Really tasty variety of burgers - need, chicken, lamb, fish and veg. We had the grilled fish and "falafel." Both tasty and freshly made. Sides are extra..good variety of beer though just a couple on tap.
Outside and inside tables. Pleasantly surprised by the quality.
