Gorgeous cafe tucked into the neighbourhood. Love that all the food is vegan. The hot chocolate with oat milk was Incredible. We only had some cabinet food as we weee short on time but can’t wait to come back & try the menu as everything looks super tasty! Friendly staff, parking just our the front. Toilets available and good wheelchair access also
Really nice and chilled vegan cafe! We had the tofu, the fried rice & noodle soup with lassis! Everything was very delicious - only one comment -the rice was missing some flavour - they all came out relatively fast! Staff was friendly! We’ll be back :)
One of the best vegan cafes in the city! It’s well hidden in Papanui, far from the main attractions, but definitely worth coming over, especially that it’s only vegan cafes open on the weekends. Everything is delicious, starting form barista made coffee, throughout cabinet food options of the day and ending in a la carte menu options and desserts. Poke bowl is indeed a must try ! Mapo tofu set is another solid option if you are super hungry. Jackfruit pretzel sandwich was just delicious, well seasoned and yummy sauce. On a top of that service is really polite ! Place gets crowded on the weekend for brunch so make sure to make a booking or come early!
This is no doubt chch’s hidden gem of specialty coffee brewing. And they features farm-based milk for white coffee. It’s great as well.

Good spot for Vegan food. Coffee was super delicious and staff were friendly. My order came at a good speed. Everything was fresh and cooked right. I was not disappointed!
Really enjoyed the coffee and berry cake. The owner was very helpful and took my order over the phone so that we wouldn't wait too long for our food. Note that they have an updated menu (and opening hours)!
Great place for coffee or even if you want to eat some great food. The oat flat white is awesome and their tea has an unique taste. I like the design of The Origin its very modern and you can see they put a lot of work into it.
It’s also very quiet if you like to have a tea and study for a while.
Staff is very friendly, Andy is awesome, highly skilled and always helpful.

I overall liked the cafe with soothing interior, very tidy and good hygiene had plenty of things, The "staff guy on barista was interactive and happy to see us", his expressions defined that he was enjoying his work but the female staff was totally opposite and looked super dull I smiled and said Hi to greet her but got no response however we all had delicious pancakes and dumplings that saved our experience from ruining it, they were really good from my experience I would hit (𝟴/𝟭𝟬) for it. Will surely check in again someday to notice things that I have missed. Thank you.
Great cafe with a lovely decor and friendly, engaged staff! Coffees are tasty and I loved the selection of non dairy milks for no added cost.
The food is good, but on the small side for the price!
We only had coffee so are unable to comment on the food. However we were impressed by the fact that the entire menu is vegan and very reasonably priced. We will definitely be going back to try the food.
This is the best breakfast we have had in the entire time we have been in NZ. Cant remember the last time in Sydney we had such a great brekkie to. All vegan and also temple food. No onion or garlic. Coffee is great and there are these cool tea infusion devices they have on the counter which is interesting to watch. Hosts are super nice !
Hadn't realised this was a fully vegan Cafe. Nice enough food though and pleasant service. Very clean modern environment.
My first visit to The Origin today and I loved it! The Air BnB host recommended it and it was the perfect place to spend a couple of leisurely hours before heading to the airport. The ambience is light, fresh and calm.. lovely music for a rainy Saturday morning :) What really made my experience wonderful was the warm and friendly welcome by Loreen. Top that off with a perfect almond flat white and a fresh, tasty vegan wrap.. 5 stars! I'll be telling my Christchurch friends to come here. Many thanks, Margi
Simple and clean eating and surroundings. Simple menu only a handful of items to select from and a good selection in cabinet. Soup and chef special to keep it interesting. Attentive and helpful staff. Open and airy venue with Scandi furniture. Parking tricky.
Delicious lunch & loved the berry slice - highly recommend & will return! This is definitely a must see!
The food here is delicious, it’s like an heaven for vegan people like me! The environment is clean and tidy and the service is also great.
