I have been here six times now and have always left happy. I like this restaurant because this is a Chinese restaurant. The restaurant has good service and staff are polite.
I really like to eat the Boiled meat, I think this food tasted similar to Chinese. And if we can't eat it all, they can help you package and take away. Then the Restaurant's menu has many choices for customers. To sum up, I think all food taste authentic. This is a good restaurant to taste Chinese food.
Being from Auckland I am spoiled for choice with Chinese food. I went here on a whim and wasn't disappointed. The service was efficient and the food came quickly. The majority of clientele were Chinese too which is always a good sign.
Alot of choice and reasonable price. We order stir fry pork and it was so soft. The tofu too was very good. Will definitely go there again :)
This is probably my favourite Chinese restaurant in Christchurch! I've been a regular patron since their old location on Colombo St. and the quality is still great after many years.
Their spicy dishes are done very well - I would recommend the Kung Pao Chicken and Fried Lamb on Sizzling Plate especially. I also like their vegetarian dishes, of which there is a decent selection, great for accomodating vegetarian friends.
Service is very quick but it can get hectic sometimes when it gets busy.
Heaps of selection of dishes and price is reasonable. Always have an a lovely time and satisfying meal every time we visit this place. Service is excellent and food is always hot and on time. Recommendable. Cheers guys
Good food here. I wont say the price is cheap but they do serve good Chinese food. Sometimes when it gets busy the services drop. Our favorite dish is the steam chicken drizzles with garlic, spring onions in oil,unfortunately it wasn't as good as what we had before. Overall a place worth visiting more than once.
Ernie Huang Once we had to stand nearby the door, waiting for a table eventhough we already booked one through phone. Other than that, we always enjoy their delicious dishes & efficient food on table service. That's why we have been repetitive customers, keep it up and hope we won't have to wait for a table again on the next visit ;)
I rate it with 4.5 for the consistency of its taste and efficient service. Not many Chinese restaurant could maintain the same quality for years but Benson did it quite well. Soup of the day is always good. Not a fan of spicy food so i could not say much of its taste, but its eggplant dish with salty fish is a must to try. The roast duck and sweet and sour pork are nice signature Cantonese dishes.
Probably the cleanest Chinese restaurant in town. I'm not a big fan of spicy food but the spicy steamed whole blue cod with noodles is absolutely a must-try. It's a shame that I haven't tried more dishes there simply because the blue cod is way too attractive. I just can't help ordering it every time.
Well shit things happens there if you eat with people who can't handle spicy... I was more than disappointed with those non-spicy dishes. They are obviously not their best shot. Don't even wanna go there again if it were not for the spicy steamed whole blue cod.
Kind remind: if the dish is not spicy, DO NOT ORDER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went back again and had to choose something non-spicy because of my friends. All I want is to have my money back...
We have a dinner last night and ordered Chong Qing chicken, braised beef with potatoes and shredded pork with sweet bean sauce. The service was fast. There are lots of people. The restaurant is almost full. We are very satisfied with what we ordered.
Chill, chinese like vibe as soon as you enter. The staff is really friendly, even to foreigners which is rare. The dishes also pack a punch and are of decent portion as well. I recommend though

Authentic old school chinese flavors, prices are not bad either, service and cleanliness can improve, although they are kinda also part of authentic chinese experience.
Mala i ordered seems to be a little overcooked(the vegetables are dry, not crunchy. The meat a little on the tough side). The season vegetables is good. Mapo is om the salty side, but goes good with the rice. The sweet and sour pork is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The food is consider good.

This place was too crowded on a weekday evening when we went there. That shows how good the food is. We were 3 and we ordered a medium size soup and it was really huge :-). 5 people can drink it!. We then ordered a roasted duck and a pot of potato and chicken with chilli. Again the portion was huge and all 3 of us shared it. We had a couple of beers, soup and the dishes with rice for a $100. So money wise it was a worth place. Taste was absolutely awesome with amazing spices. Book a table in advance so that you need not wait when you arrive at the restaurant. They have a detailed menu with pictures of most of the listed items. So that gives you a good chance to choose if you are not sure about the items. Qucik service. The ambience is not too great but it's ok. I enjoyed the food here!
Literally the best food and customer service. I have come in multiple times and they are always the absolute sweetest. Food is delicious, I am addicted to the wontons.
