Food was amazing as always, Dixie Chicken is my fave. The night we dined they had 2 for 1 Margaritaz yuummm. Great to have the service button too, every time we pushed the button someone showed up not long after. Nice place and atmosphere.
A classic American sport bar with a great vibe, drinks are good, service is nice but a little rushing.
Garlic loaf is fantastic, fresh and warm, buttery, toasty, soft and fluffy, and extremely delicious, would be perfect if there was actually any taste of garlic š, or if it was more appropriately branded as butter toast.
Burgers are just spot on, tender, juicy and perfectly cooked meat with toasty milky buns and perfect amount of pickles and veges, although I really wasnāt expecting a boring and rather tasteless pan fried chicken instead a deep fried in a chicken burger, otherwise no complaints.
The bbq ribs are bit of disappointment thou, itās surprisingly bland and lack of any decent sauce or complexity of flavors, the sauce is way to light to be anywhere near the real deal, and to be completely honest, it tastes more like a chinese style sweet and sour rib than an American bbq rib.
Very tasty meal. Classic experience. Been a long time since last visiting this Lone Star. Was great .
My family and I were in Christchurch tonight for my son's graduation. We decided to go to Lone Star in Northlands' Mall. I have to say, I'm struggling to write this as I'm so full!! Got to day, it was the best meal we've had out together in a long time. Great Service. Amazing food and a real enjoyable vibe. Next time we're in Christchurch, we'll definitely be back.
Lovely chill atmosphere. I ordered the "Stand by your lamb" which was a great dish. The mash potatoes were creamy, the jus was added a nice sharpness to the dish and the lamb was juicy. Finished with the banofee pie, which was awesome because it had the taste of caramel without being overly sweet. A great place to have the family out for dinner or a catch- up with friends. Would recommend!
Have been eating here for years and yesterday noticed an improvement in the quality of food and there was a real buzzy atmosphere. The restaurant owner took time to talk with us and made us feel very welcome and valued. The staff were concious in their service too. We had a lovely and memorable evening.
Dining downstairs tonight at Lone Star Papanui was a five-star experience! The ribs were divine, falling off the bone with flavor, and the chicken burger delighted my partner's taste buds. The service was impeccableāattentive and friendly. The atmosphere downstairs was cozy yet vibrant, adding to the overall enjoyment. Lone Star Papanui exceeded our expectations, making it a must-visit for anyone craving amazing food and a welcoming ambiance. Five stars all the way!

Came to Lone Star after another place failed us with a dinner.
Got a Gerhard Burger with fries.
The burger was nice, could have been hotter temperature wise, but was ok.
Fries good as expected.
Staff opened with apologies for a limited menu, which was very considerate.
Over all a pleasant experience.
We went to Northlands Lone Star for an early dinner on Boxing Day. The food was fantastic and the staff were wonderful at every interaction. We were a party of three who ordered a Cajun Chicken, a GF Gerhard Burger with fries, and Redneck Ribs with Buffalo Chips, plus drinks. The size of the meals here is impressive. We had to get a box for our leftovers. At no point did we feel rushed, unwelcomed, or neglected. We came away full, happy, and very thankful for a great dining experience!
Always enjoy coming here with my family. Just love the food, staff are very friendly and always willing to help and make sure we're comfortable and satisfied with everything. We've been here a few times now and we've always enjoyed it. Thank you very much lone star š
This is an update on the outcome of my review...........the owner reached out to me and has apologised and is rectifying the situation. We are happy with this outcome and appreciate the communication.
Unfortunately we had a really dissapointing experience last night compared to our usual experience at Lone Star.
We chose our table and got some drinks then at 7.25pm ordered our meals. By 7.50 we still hadn't received them or had anyone come to let us know they were on their way so got more drinks. By 8.10 still no food, we were trying to be patient thinking maybe they were just busy but watched as people that arrived well after us got their food. Still no word from any staff member. Eventually I had to go and ask how much longer (which no-one wants to do š the guy said that he would go check. About 5mins later he came back, offered us some more drinks (we assumed on the house ) and said the food will be out shortly. When the meals turned up they were not the usual huge servings. My partner who ordered the fish had two tiny pieces ( more like fish fingers ). No explanation of why they took so long, no apology, maybe this is a normal wait time on a Thursday night although the restaurant wasn't very busy.
The food tasted good but when my partner pays $40 for his meal and has to buy McDonald's afterwards to fill up then it's no good.
Please train yr staff to check on the guests and keep them informed as to what is happening. It made us wonder if we were completely forgotten about? Unfortunately it has put us off coming back to this one, we have a work do at city branch to ight so it will be good to compare service time and size of meals.
Second time visiting for lunch. Food was tasty (especially the baked garlic loaf) and generously portioned. The staff provided great service. Will definitely visit again.

Had a great visit today. Tried the "New Porker" and it was delicious. Kids meals are great value. Staff are really kind and helpful, it's a fabulous Lone Star! I have been visiting this restaurant since I moved to Chch in 2011 and it never disappoints.
