The Eggs Bene with salmon and French toast were divine!!! Service was very friendly and prompt however, the mushrooms and berry compote on toast was a peculiar combination...not sure I’d order that again. But on the whole, a lovely dining experience
This is a great cafe. It can be busy at times, but the food and drink totally make up for it. Friendly staff and a great view out to the whole of Christchurch. This place serves incredible drinks.
A good cafe with a great view. Having breakfast there in the morning is absolutely beautiful while looking over the snow-capped southern Alps. Okay menu and good food and service. The cafe can get crowded, in fact, it is crowded most of the times. Better to book a table in advance.
such a cute little place, pretty generic menu but the amazing views make up for it! I had the mushrooms which were very well flavoured but could have used some more sauce as there wasn't much, my boyfriend had the burger and chips which he loved but he loves anything. the only down points were the generic menu and the lack of sauce with mushrooms, everything else was pleasing!
I'm usually not one to write a review but it was just so good!!! Went for lunch in the weekend, place was busy but got a table outside which was nice as it was a hot day. Ordered a flat white and a Japanese chicken salad for me and an iced coffee and big brekkie for my partner.
The Japanese salad was just YUM, was so fresh and the dressing delicious, you guys should bottle it!! Hubby said the big brekkie was great too, he particularly loved the rye bread.
We can't wait to go back, perhaps for dinner next time.
I like food there! Fresh ingredients and nicely cooked! It was very good dining experience! It has excellent view of Christchurch. My parents enjoyed meal there.
Recently went there after a recommendation from a family member who dined in for breakfast. My partner and I also had breakfast and the food was superb great presentation of the food and taste was spot on. I would recommend their cinnamon french toast best french toast to date that I have had from a cafe in Christchurch, my partner had eggs bene and thoroughly enjoyed it. The barrister's know how to make good coffee. Service was friendly and welcoming and ensured we were being looked after. The layout of the cafe is good one downside is the new wall where the car plunged through a few weeks ago is now is boarded over instead of the nice open windows but, overall the view of Christchurch from the Cashmere hills makes for a great outing for breakfast.
On another occasion I went for dessert and highly recommend their selection of desserts, Chocolate mousse to die for.
Would highly recommend this cafe
The service was outstanding all the wait staff were so friendly and helpful choosing our meals. The food was excellent the best mussels I've had in Christchurch, presentation was fabulous also. We had a great view of the city and the coffee was some of the best I've had too. Will be coming back definitely what a great dinning experience
I haven't been to Cup since July, but it was always my favourite place to get brunch on a weekend when I lived in Christchurch! The staff are lovely, food is excellent and the view is to die for! Best view of the city any restaurant/cafe has in Christchurch! Their evening menu is also delightful, little more upmarket but worth the extra few dollars! Fine wine that compliment fantastic meals makes for a very romantic evening, especially with all the lights of the city! Would recommend this place to anyone! Can't wait to visit Christchurch again and get my favourite French Toast!
I went to Cup Cafe today, and was pleasantly surprised to notice that the menu had changed and the service was brilliant. I had been to the cup once before about 6 months ago and wasn't to happy with my overall experience. But my friend had told me how it has hugely improved. I must say it was best café experience to date. And will be recommending it to all my friends. I would like to give compliments to the chef and all the staff that were on today. Especially the lovely young lady (Gina) who greeted me with the most warm and welcoming smile. Customer service, coffee and meals were excellent. I can't wait to come back.
Went to the Cup this weekend and took a friend from out of town who I had been talking to about the Cup for several years and it was great. Got a seat by the window with amazing views and had coffee and lunch and then another coffee and was just as good as ever. Lovely and warm and friendly staff and looking forward to heading back again soon
The best Caesar salad ever! Would not hesitate to go again for brunch - especially if on a voucher deal! Thank you.
3rd November 2012 evening for dinner.
My wife granddaughter Paris and I were delighted that the cup was now now licensed and open for dinner. not widely known yet, however suspect will be very busy in the evenings soon.
We had the scallops as an entree between the 3 of us - superb!
Mains - we had venison, fish of the day and Risotto all,of which were excellent. Dessert, granddaughter was the only participant ( sadly ) and she had the Creme Brûlée, which we all sneaked a taste of - fantastic ! The lovely 2 young ladies that served us were very professional, with very happy dispositions.
Overall an extremely enjoyable experience which we would encourage others to book early for the same.
I love this Cafe!!!
I have been here a few times and every time I go i get Great service, fab meal, and the best ICE CHOCOLATE you can get in town.
The other weekend I meet my 10 Girl friends there and we'll and a bit to eat and a coffee, the place was busy as, and the staff were just fantastic.
Since the new owner a yr ago or so, she has change this place around and makes it one of the best places to go and enjoy a fab coffee, tea or Ice chocolate and see the great views of the city that has fallen.
If you and your friends want to experience this then head to the Cup Cafe, and you will love it.
Took my parents to Cup my mum wanted a Gluten free meal and they took care of it and explained what was in the meal so she was happy ..
The kids had a bacon sandwich which was amazing and they were happy and satisfied with there choice ..
Amazing veiws and service ,well done
I love the Cup. Usually go there at least once a fornight. Excellent views, great food and coffee. Did have a very slow person making coffee but she is not doing the coffee anymore so all is fab!! Highly recommended to all especially visitors from out of town....views amazing!
Always enjoy the food, friendly service and amazing views. Take all my overseas guests there. Everyone has been very impressed.
Last weekend I visited the cup cafe to celebrate a friends birthday. I had never dined there before so wasn't sure what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the menu was extensive (from this I chose to have the salmon salad which was a special that day) as well as having a wide selection of cabinet foods to choose from all reasonably priced. Efficient, friendly service, tasty food, GREAT coffee and a view to boot are just a few reasons I gave this lovely wee cafe a big thumbs up!!! Can't wait to return.
Went to Cup last sunday with my partner and children
I had the works stack and my partner had pancakes w bacon both meals were well cooked and presented ..
The coffees came after the meals as ordered and they have a great kids platter
also there were colouring pads for the children to amuse them during our meal..
we will definitely be going back ..
We love this place - Dusk, now, not Cup.
Comfy window seats, lovely views, sun and tasty food.
Sadly our usual Eggs Bene has shrunk! The yummy layered potato underneath has halved in serving size. It was tiny!
Food was delicious and good atmosphere with amazing views over the city. I downgraded the service to 4 as there was quite a bit of wait for both clearing my table from the previous customers and also for the food...which was worth waiting for. A heaven for celiacs with freshly baked gf bread and good variety of gf food available
Great view! Service could be a bit faster 😁
Edit: Second time around, much faster service even with a packed venue. The mustard aoli on the steak sandwich blew my mind, highly recommended. The French toast was great too.
Absolutely beautiful spot for breakky! Coffee was delicious and the service was top notch, kiwi hospitality at its finest. The owner even popped out for a chat - great place!

Amazing relaxing view, good place to unwind alone or with friends and special someone. Not so sure about the service though, must be an early in the morning type of mood. Love the coffee, pie and quiche. Will definetely come back on sunny weather. Hopefully, the staff smile more..😊
Absolute love coming here! The best coffee in town and staff are so friendly. Vegetarian pizza is delicious and the views are on point!
A great experience all around. Made a lunchtime reservation with special request for seating. Staff were so friendly & helpful. Even the owner/manager? who was immersed in paperwork had time for a smile & greeting. We both got caesar salads & they were exquisite. My coffee was perfect. THE VIEW was incredible over the city & to the mtns, I could see forever. I absolutely loved this place and will certainly be back.
Exceptional food! My seafood chowder was full of an assortment of seafood, thick creamy and flavourful. I tried my friend's open omelette and it was fluffy and full of vegetables and feta cheese and quite substantial. The service was top notch considering it was the day after the terrorist attack and they were also low on staff. Views are always beautiful. A real Christchurch classic.
Amazing views over the city - if you’re lucky enough to nab a table by the window. The French Toast Sticks with banana, bacon and maple syrup were really good.
I came here for a coffee and brownie, great coffee but the brownie was on the dry side though. Lovely views of Christchurch which is what makes it special here. It's clean and Overall a nice place to stop at for a quick or long stop
Best view in Christchurch from a cafe/restaurant. Creamy coffee... Slow cooked meat dishes for dinner are fab..
The food was first class and the service the same. Prices are good and the scenery topped off a great time. I will definitely be going there again.
Seafood chowder is to die for! The staff were very accommodating and views beautiful!
Came here for a quick take away coffee, lovely views and excellent coffee but slow service.
top brunch spot in the lower stratosphere with postcard views on a clear day - top notch flat white - excellent seafood chowder brimming with marine goodies - service always pleasant & obliging - well worth the hike
