Nice curries and really good cheese and garlic naan
The best Indian that I have tried in Christchurch. Always cooked in a timely manner, chicken is always in good size and cooked succulently. Sauce is always delicious, even if you just have sauce with rice left over. The naan bread is beautiful, I couldn’t imagine a meal without it. I have also tried a range of their vegetarian options, and the best one would be the chickpea curry. The prices are reasonable and even with increases over the years, I’m still loyal to Bombay Butler for my Indian food fix. Meals come with complimentary rice and a menu with many different dishes. Staff are always friendly.
Probably one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. I have never dined in (only get takeaway) and the service is always friendly and fast even when busy. The butter chicken is my favourite.
My favorite Indian restaurant in Christchurch. I always get butter chicken, great flavors, good value and they don't skimp on the chicken.
Definitely give this one a try.
The first time i had Indian food in christchurch was at this place and i literally thanked the chef for making such an awesome and amazing food. I fell in love with food at this place.
Whenever i will visit christchurch again this would be the first place i would like to visit.
The food is amazing. The quantity of food served is best among all Indian Restaurants in Christchurch. The waitstaff was very clear that their food is a bit sweet, we asked for extra spicy and the food delivered was perfect. The naan bread is extremely well cooked and very soft. I wish i had enough space to try the biryani.
I was put off by the first review so i didnt want to try this Indian shop. but since spice of life church corner has closed shop and now only has one in kaipoi i have had to fined a new Indian. i have found that t.palace, lil india and corrianders are quite bland tasting im not a food expert or critic or anything but damn is this a tasty curry. i only got butter chicken because thats my goto when trying a new place but this flavor has got me wanting to try other dishes. i will most certainly be going back and looking forward to trying more. i had take away btw so dont know what the service is like enjoy
I only go here for take aways.. Their food is not great but it is good.. I like their butter chicken better than tandoori palace..
They are among the few indian restaurants which serve goat meat..
Ambience and service is alright-never had any issues
My favorite Indian Takeaway. The $10 pods are a great idea and the Naan bread the nicest I've had in Christchurch. The Rogan josh is my favorite and the meals are prepared quite fast.
The best chicken korma I've tasted in Christchurch! My partner has always enjoyed his $10 butter chicken. Definitely no complaints from us. $10 curries, great value for money and the service is excellent as well.
Went to Bombay Butler for a family night out in Friday night. There were four of us and we started with a platter of samosas, onion bahjees, chicken tikka, and salad. The platter was good - bahjees were brilliant and chicken tender and flavourful. The samosas needed a bit more spice (cumin perhaps?) and the tamarind sauce seemed watered down, but these are minor criticisms.
We then got 3 curries - Palak Paneer, Chicken Korma, & Mango Chicken. All three were brilliant! Very soft cheese in the Palak Paneer and a nicely spiced gravy. Chicken Korma was slightly sweet with a nice Cardamom flavour that came through and the Mango Chicken had the most distinct "Mango" flavour I've ever had - my kids even said its the best Mango chicken they had ever had (and they've had heaps!) We will definitely go back!
I go there at least once a month, simply because these guys serve up beautiful curries, the ten dollar pods are excellent value for money and the naan breads are huge! not sure what the first reviewer is on about?
A group of 4 went early last Saturday evening. We had the banquet, great starters, good curries, we had the prawn, palak paneer, korma chicken and butter chicken, the butter chicken wasn't as thick as the others. The Palak paneer is not like any I've ever come across and is one of my fave dishes along with Korma. Barjees are brilliant
I think its a bit of a shame the new tv addtions but I understand they are very much a takeaway place too.
I always find this place pretty good value for money and generally very consistent.
Went for lunch here. Food was freshly made with great taste and quantity for $15. The nan bread was delicious, was alot for lunch so make sure your hungry otherwise you won't finish! We were given water in a bottle and glasses which was thoughtful. Will be back. Waitress was friendly but looked little bored.
Food and aervice was great ,the Nan bread was so nice ,different to others I have had before.
Love the food here. Portion sizes are plentiful, curries are delicious, we also really enjoy the Bombay Platter. Not the most amazing atmosphere for dining in, but great for takeaways.
So happy to learn of this restaurant! The food is the best indian food I have had in New Zealand. I can't wait to go back again. The naan breads are light and fluffy unlike the naans at many other indian restaurants in Chch. There is a good selection of other breads too. In terms of the food, my favs were the paneer tikka and butter chicken. The restaurant feels very clean and has plenty of seating. Well done to the owners :)
This is such a treat, we have been introduced to new dishes/ foods that we might not have tried before.....very refreshing!
We celebrated our daughters 1st birthday at Bombay Butler. Great service and great food.
Excellent takeaway food! Always quick and on time, quality is great, highly recommended. Can get busy around peak times (dinner time mainly) so you can expect a 20 min wait.
Top drawer Indian take away - staff were very friendly and the food was amazing. I was visiting from England and we know our curry and the food was awesomo.
Even as I was contemplating going in there a local told me it was the boss. They weren't wrong.
Restaurant was empty but takeaway orders were flying out the door. Always pays to ring forward ! Best In town in my opinion.
Had Onion Bhajees and fair play the portion was massive. Most were very tasty but a few were not completely cooked so the onions were a bit crunchy. I was happy but I feel some would be upset by this.
The Chicken Korma did not taste like a korma but in my 20+ years living in NZ I have never had a perfect korma. I guess coming from the UK I was spoilt. Regardless it was tasty and I enjoyed it.
Would go again and next time I am in Christchurch will try a vindaloo
We travel from Templeton just to pick up Bombay Butler. Always delicious!
Super well priced, reliable Indian takeaway
Its not a big restaurant but they've made good use of the space. The lunch combo is well priced given that they give a good portion of roti to finish off the yummy sauce and there's a good selection of currys to choose from. I went for my favorite lamb Madras and I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Been To Bombay Butler a few times now and it’s always consistent. Enjoyed my butter chicken again, was very hot which was nice and fresh. The staff are very welcoming and always kind. The meal is very well worth the money. I really enjoyed it. Will definitely visit again
A delicious Indian food experience, with admirable service and atmosphere that keeps you coming back for more, the most tasty takeaway I've had in a while
We went here for lunch today & omg we can't wait to go again! $15 lunch is so so good! Such great value, delicious meal, very lovely staff!
