Tastes ok and reasonable price. To me it was salty and sweet. Friendly service. Many seats available inside, takeout also possible. Food made quickly after the order. Portion is just enough for women. Extra rice 3$, lunch menu around 10~15$.

Possibly the best meal I've had in 2021! Great service, pristine restaurant and the food is simply to die for! If you're a lamb fan, get the number 41 braised slow cooked lamb shanks, a truly special dish!
Food is delicious and good variety. Their lunch menu is very concise. Their portions are not large but as per the reasonable price they charge. I recommend ordering a few different mains to share around and you will enjoy the meal tasting all the different choices. Good place for a quick lunch during the workdays.

We dropped in at 930pm and they were still serving dinner. We got our meals quickly and they were delicious. Choo chee was very tasty, veges and fish cakes really good. All reasonably priced. We would definitely recommend.

Amazing panaeng curry! So flavourful and well cooked, and the $12 lunch deal was perfect (any main and a drink). Service was friendly and quick and the restaurant had relaxing music and a good atmosphere. Would definitely come back again.

The girlfriend and I were looking for a good curry around Central Christchurch on a cold day and happened upon Aroy Thai.
We were greeted by a friendly server and seated quickly. The restaurant is fairly typical of a traditional Thai restaurant, albeit a bit outdated, it was charming. We were served quickly and the food arrived within ten minutes. Both the vegetable green curry (my meal) and the vegetable Paneang curry (my girlfriends meal) well well-spiced and a good portion size considering the $12 price tag - with a drink included.
The server was very friendly and we had no issues in this regard like some other reviews.
The only main issue I had is that our seat right against the front windows seemed to smell a bit strange. The odour of wet dog / feet is not the most inviting scent in a Thai restaurant. It may have been just a weird mix of smells from spices but it wasn't overly pleasent.
Overall a great place to stop for a well-priced lunch! Also, I hope you like 90s-sounding Southeast Asian pop music.

One of the best meals I've had. Service was great and meals came out so super quick. The chef even came out to check we had a good meal!
Lamb shank was amazing, and something thats different from other usual thai restaurants.
Pad Thai with yellow noodles is my fave and I will be back and looking forward to it.
