The food is outstanding, marvellous , absolutely delectable, can't go wrong with the food at the foundation cafe. Best cafe in Christchurch. I always get the Big Breakfast the Veggie one, it is always 100% hands down. The coffee is divine too, I go back for seconds most of the time. The Lime Blossom and chamomile tea is the best tea also the scones are to die for, best scones in Christchurch both Date and orange and cheese scones are mouth watering.
The staff are extraordinarily friendly and always get a warm welcome from the staff especially the manager Susan, her and the rest of the staff know how to create a warm hospitable environment. Very cordial, gregarious team at the foundation cafe. Never had a problem with them at all, no faults whatsoever. The music they play varies, different genres, and fits in well with the cafe environment.
They are very quick at serving food and making coffee and they try extremely well even when they are under pressure as this cafe is always teeming with people. They still manage to work expeditiously under stressful conditions which I think is outstanding.
Susan the manager knows how to run the cafe very well, she has impressive communication skills and is exceptionally well at managing her team to the best of her ability, she is very vocal, that's a good thing you always know when she is around. She has a good work ethic and gets on extremely well with her team.
Anne is very friendly and welcoming too.
The rest of the staff are excellent, the foreign people are nice and love their accents . All of the positive things I mentioned are what makes the foundation cafe unique and special.
I noticed people have put negative comments up about their experience at the Foundation Cafe, have these people got the right forum, sure its not supposed to be aimed at another cafe, find it hard to believe myself.
I caught the bus into town JUST to come to this café. Such a lovely interior, great food, very lovely staff and two registers so you are served fast. Scone and hot chocolate came in good time. It is a busy environment but in a good way! Lovely soft French music playing in the background, great big windows so you can see Cathedral Square and surrounding area. I did some crochet while having my meal and it was a really lovely afternoon. I will definitely come again, thank you so much!! :-)
What a fabulous location with a menu to die for! Loads of options for all your dietary needs & lovely service from all staff! Fast service despite being very busy & made a drink for my friend that was not on the menu a ‘London fog’. I enjoyed my long black with cream (no extra charge for the cream) so much I forgot to snap a photo but check out the cabinet selection! I’ll be back to try the food - my friend had a pasta salad that was creamy & delicious & they have fresh salads every day! Winning!
They have fabulous homemade Kombucha here which brings me back for more. Loved the grape and orange one you had today.
Cheese scones are decent and service is great.
My only criticism is that it gets so busy, which is great for business but a pain if you want to find a seat and have some peace and quiet.
Maybe a quiet area dedicated for people who come alone and just want to be away from the busyness?
Kia ora. Fabulous breakfast of eggs bene, omelette and steak open sandwich. Great coffee too and service was excellent. Well done. Nga mihi.
I have been to the café a few times, not always by choice but because it is at a convenient location.
They are child friendly and my kids enjoy being in there.
Food is good but a bit overpriced compared to other cafés.
People are lovely and mostly get orders correct. I find that when you double check what you receive helps you get your order.
They have great music but bit loud as we couldn't hear our companions speak.
I would go back for a drink but would rather takeaway.
Located in the library. Friendly service and decent food.
A great location for lunch in the centre of Christchurch. Well prepared and tasty variety of sandwiches, cakes, and drinks. Unfortunately, they didn’t do a good job of delivering the food to our table, but instead tried to deliver each of our plates to other patrons by mistake, until they eventually found our table.
Without a doubt, the best breakfast ever... Avocado and herbed pea smash with a side of bacon. So good I went back next day for a repeat. Great service, attentive hostess with the mostest, prompt service. Highly recommend.
The scones are Devine. ALL the food is incredible and the staff so helpful and friendly. It's just the noise level and seating that brings this place down. Catch this Cafe on a quiet hour and it's the best place to relax for coffee and cakes in town.
