Pork prawn wonton noodles soup -
A meal by itself or a wonderful starter with wontons are filled with a juicy pork and prawn fillings floating on a bed of thin egg noodles.
Cambodian style pork fried noodles -
The unique flavours of Cambodian-style or Khmer cuisine that brings a tangy sweet flavour to meats and stir-fried vegetables coming from the oyster sauce, soy sauce.
Malaysian Lamb curry -
A heavenly combination of a New Zealand lamb and cooked slowly in Malaysian style of coconut gravy and other spices. Mildly spicy and flavorful.
Delicious food in a great restaurant run by lovely and kind people. Vegetarian (probably vegan) options too! We have been here twice already in only 4 days staying in Christchurch so far. I recommend getting the “twice fried tofu”. We (two people) ordered two dishes, medium rice, and a pot of jasmine tea, and that was a good amount of food (you could even take some home as leftovers if you wanted). The service is quiet and kind and lovely! Would recommend.
Vegetarian options! Had a delicious lunch here. Two of us ordered Jasmine Tea, Twice Cooked Tofu, Stir Fried Potato & Capsicum, and a medium bowl of rice. We finished everything and felt good full, not too full.
Their tofu is locally sourced! It was fried, puffy, soft, and soaked up sauce excellently. They have soy sauce, white pepper, and chilli oil available, too.
The large menu offers Cambodian,Thai, Chinese, and some other cuisines. Lots of dishes non-Chinese people will know, and some you won’t! We ordered dishes from the Chinese menu and I’d recommend both.
A Note on Meat — if you’re vegetarian or vegan make sure to ask for no meat, egg, and/or dairy. Not all dish names mention meat but lots of Chinese dishes often include meat even tofu dishes.
The restaurant’s interior is the Shabby Chic I adore of Chinese Restaurants in New Zealand — lanterns, large tables with lazy susan’s, photos of menu items on the wall etc. Perfect!
We dined there and had pancakes and duck and supreme beef satay both were beautiful we also had fried banana and ice cream which was huge and could have shared it between 2 easily. Everything was cook to perfection a lovely evening
We ordered a set menu for two. Everything was so yummy and worth every penny. Surely will come again. Fantastic service
If you can't get into Fifth Street but want the same quality food, look no further than Sampan House. Highly recommend
Amazing food kind staff gonna come back again and again:D
How good does this look? 🤤🤤
This was the mixed meats chow mein with cashew nuts. The portions are huge! So good! The service was extremely lovely and the staff ensure you are very well looked after.
The food came out in less than 3 minutes and it was hot!
I really liked the menu items on the walls with pictures as well, nice decor. This was a really lovely Chinese restaurant hidden away in the central city and I'll be back! Thanks Sampan House! 😊
Warm welcome plus nice executed food, great Chinese food for the people visiting Christchurch!
Generous servings and pretty good food! Great service too!
If you are a fan of King of Snake this is the place for you!
The Satay thing is well worth the stomach cramps.
Business in Christchurch is quite, but this restaurant still hold their honour to delivery nice dishes and delicious food.
