Awesome food and my 11 year old says the subs are even better than Subway because they have less salt :)
Excellent decor inside and I enjoyed a Longboat bacon sub, excellent taste and lighting fast service.
Nice to get a taste from home.

My fiance and i have been here twice in the last 24 hours and both times its been awesome! We love the food and the service is absolutely great, i think coming here is gonna be a regular occurrence
So fresh, such good quality! Had the most amazing roast lamb sandwich. With house fried crunchy onion pieces, fried onion, juicy lamb, and gherkins. Ah heaven �

This is a superb takeaway. They sell boats which are delicious long bread roll with flavoured meats and vegetables. I just had a chicken boat and it was really very tasty.
I am also told they do home deliveries ordered over the phone and can do lunches for large groups of people. Definitely stop in and try these guys out. Its a quick, efficient and friendly service. They make sure your needs ie hunger, are met with a great boat.
Quite impressed! I'll be back. Nothing bland or run of the mill about their sandwiches. So much popping up in Christchurch hospo scene. But this place is quite a low key gem.

Kiwi viking has claimed the title of my favorite food in Christchurch, I won't name the previous, but I will say they held the crown for around 25 years.
There are a few reasons in particular.
1). The shop is immaculately clean and tidy, you can tell they have pride in how they present themselves.
2). The staff are polite, friendly & approachable, especially the owner.
3). A great theme, it has been a long time since I've been to an establishment with a theme that hasn't made me roll my eyes, I dig this place.
4). Value for money, do you remember the last time you felt like your food was actually good value for money? The servings are, and in my opinion at least, very generous, while it can be a messy adventure getting through a sub, each ingredient can be tasted, I need to try more menu items, but the Lamb sub has my heart. This is the first restaurant that I'd never ask for extra sauce, I like it saucy and so do they.
5). Speed, the kitchen is simple and efficient, while I haven't visited during a rush, it seems like they'd still have a very low wait time.
6). They tolerate intolerance, Gluten Free, Dairy free, Vegan, they do the lot.
So try it.
Awesome place and great filling meals for a great price. My only suggestion would be to have more vegetarian options than the existing salad or mushroom sub. If there were more options you’d certainly see more of me. A pulled bbq jackfruit sub or loaded fries would be amazing from you guys. Vegetarians want comfort food too 😂
Great tasty sub, healthy & quality ingredients. Nice chill out environment. Friendly staff. Prices adjusted, now my new favourite place for a bite to eat. Run by a Swedish guy. Definitely worth a visit. Thanks! The council could help you out with 30 min parks outside..
Very delicious and well worth the price. Ordered a large steak and cheese sub - super filling and amazingly delicious. Open until 3am on weekends and until 1am other nights. Nice selection of Three Boys beers and also various wines. Only suggestion I would make would be a bit of music to keep the atmosphere pumping. Plenty of parking both on street as well as a Wilsons and Council parking area. Also available on Uber Eats. Will be back.
This was my first visit to The Kiwi Viking after following their Instagram page for some time.
From the moment I walked in i was greeted by the friendly staff, and upon them hearing it was my first time here they ran over the menu and some of their customer favourites and combo deals.
I chose the lamb, which I had in a combo which came with a drink, fries and accompanied sauce and was not dissapointed in the slightest.
I didn't have to wait long and there was plenty of space to pull up a stool and eat in if I wanted. There was pleasant music playing and a cool vibe.
I'll definitely be recommending this establishment to friends and family!
Would give 5 stars because the food here is superb. Would rather get this than subway any day.
So why not 5 stars? Because it can be a mixed bag with who you get that serves you. If its the right person you get lots of extra toppings if you ask for it (and paid of course). If you dont get the right person, you don't get very much in terms of extra toppings (in most cases the difference between getting the extra toppings and not getting them were negligible). Which obviously doesn't justify the extra cost.
If they sort out a universal way around this (so that every meal gets the same amount of toppings) I will gladly change my review to 5 stars.
From one Viking to another - Thanks brother it was an awesome burger - perfect after a long drive from Timaru. Highly recommend this place if you want a good old no fuss burger!
This place is the most awesome place to eat in Christchurch. The Menu is awesome and something for everyone on there. The food is great, portions are very large and amazing value for money. The bacon is amazing. And dont forget to try the Strawberries!
Gotta say the best sandwhiches are the messiest and mine was messy! I got the chilli steak and lamb and that thing was amazing.. I was a little disappointed with the chilli viking oars the chilli was rather dry and the chips really soggy even after my ten minute trip to my destination i wouldve expected a more saucey chilli.. Otherwise they tasted amazing as well.. Just really love chilli that has more sauce.. Also to be fair these guys and gal were fairly busy.. But the chilli being so dry is the only reason Im not giving 5 stars.
Great place to have a lunch on working days since it's just down stairs our premises at BizDojo. It's nice to have a place with delicious and healthy subs. I love to enjoy it in sunny days sitting on their tables on the street.
Came in yesterday was greeted by a lovely lady, noticed how the other lady was ever so patient training the young man. Well done to her / them. Food was awesome big, fresh, tasty!! Loved the chippies.

Probably my most ordered from place on UE, the lamb boat is amazing! Such great food, and prices, it's nice to find a place where you actually feel full after a feed!
