Craig and I regularly dine at the Pierside and always are blown away by the chef's expertise quite the hidden gem, the staff are very friendly and accommodating providing great service.
Took our neighbour out for dinner to celebrate her 72 birthday. Had a great time, food was lovely. We even took our own birthday cake and staff were fine with this, even lit the candles and made sure we had extra plates etc. Waitress was so friendly. We all had very yummy meals. Thank you so much. We will be back.
Come here tonight for dinner with my family, just want to say what an awesome place! The food was top notch and the service and atmosphere awesome too! Such good value for $$. What a fabulous exsperience we had this evening at Peirside ๐๐๐ Food was fantastic and delicious. The portion sizes were great value for money (BIG) Kids meals where fab too. Really reccomend coming here. We will be back in the near future . Also the lady who served and attended us was 10/10. Well done to her also. Thanks alot ๐

Just had to say what a great meal had tonight at the pier side! After finding others closed tonight we were lucky enough to find these guys open and inviting. Being locals surprisingly this was the first time we had dined here and having my parents over this side of town for the evening we were nervous about a dinner out but thank you guys for a great meal and great service. We will be back!

What can we say ? Number one venue in New Brighton. Mandy & Josh made us very welcome and kept the beers coming. Quiz night is a hoot, Disco/ karaoke nights are lively. Not had a chance to try the food, we are Nottingham lads, we don't do solids when wer'e drinking. If anyone out there is lucky enough to find themselves in this area of Soth Island, pop in & say hello, you won't regret it
Indian food...ok european indian food. But at its best. Truly the best vindaloo ever!!! And the meat soo lean. Can't count how often we have eaten here. Lots of years left to enjoy it!!!

I found the place to be a nice quiet atmosphere which i found pleasing for a change food was amazing will be returning in the future good job
Rustic charm and friendly service make this a fun place to visit. It's a pub style atmosphere (so don't expect any fancy decor) with jukebox and pool table, but still a fairly comprehensive menu. The toasted ciabatta sandwich was fantastic (one of the best) as was the caesar salad. If you are after a relaxed fun meal with the locals in a boisterous venue close to the beach at New Brighton and the awesome new kids playground then this is it.

Love coming here on those sunny but windy days so you can enjoy the warmth and beach view without the cool! Always lovely staff and always busy which is a good sign to me! Kid friendly! Which is perfect they have plenty of toys to keep kids entertained an scoop icecream to keep the kids cool! Will continue to come here for coffee after my library visits( which happens to be right next door ;) )
My and my partner went out for dinner on Tuesday. Really pleased with the meals. We ordered the $15 steaks witch clearly stated that it's a 150g steak as we were not too hungry.it was delicious. Had it with pepper sauce that tasted like it was made fresh to order. Yum yum .definitely going back.grwat food ,reasonable prices and a great service and atmosphere.

have had meals in the past and different experiences. but last visit it was excellent. lovely waiter and food was good. had the ribs and partner also had the ribs. a bit to much sauce on potatoe wedges but ribs were done well.
Dined at Pierside last night with 4 other friends.
The service was great with an extremely happy waiter who shared jokes and was overall, fantastic at his job. Atmosphere was awesome.
I ordered Ribeye Steak served with veges and chips, which was absolutely beautiful and the presentation of all the meals was great.
There was a variety of food ordered and everyone was rapt with their meals.
Just annoyed I had no room left for dessert as they looked amazing also.
Compliments to the chef and his team of staff for an overall excellent dining experience.
I soooo recommend Pierside Cafรฉ and am already looking forward to going back.
Went to Pierside on Mother's Day for lunch. We all ordered something different. I had the steak sandwich on ciabatta bread without Mushroom Sauce. The flavours were awesome. Swapped out my chips for my daughters salad. Very Happy I did as it was fabulous. Other meals at the table were devoured. I recommend Pierside.
Restaurant was super busy with diners in the courtyard, main bar and the restaurant. Kitchen staff did an awesome job to get the food out with such large number of diners. We will be back. Keep up the great job.
This is my favourite New Brighton hangout - the staff are super friendly and welcoming and they do the BEST toasted sandwiches in Christchurch! I've only eaten bar food here and can't wait to try the restaurant but I can't get enough of their toasties and have even driven from St Albans to get one.

We wanted a seafood restaurant so we searched for seafood. Most places only had one or two seafood items but Pierside had a genuine substantial seafood menu. We were pleasantly surprised having seen a few of the less complimentary reviews. Pleasant relaxed atmosphere: felt like a small family business. The food was great! Only problem was a very long wait for the entree but when it did come it was offered free due to the time taken which we appreciated.
Overall a very good experience.
Just had a perfectly cooked and presented meal at Pierside.
We had a lamb rack, and eye fillet meal- both perfectly cooked to medium rare as ordered.
The combination of flavours, the portion size, and presentation were excellent.

My husband, father and I dined at the Pierside Cafรฉ & Bar on one of their $15 steak nights. My husband and father both ordered the steak and I ordered the vegetarian filo. All meals were excellent, although the food took probably a little long to arrive, it was completely worth the wait. Excellent portion sizes, especially for the men! The food was phenomenal, and excellent value. The waiter was really pleasant. We also ordered dessert which was a New York Cheesecake - it was HUGE, again the boys loved the portion sizes and tasted amazing.
This is definitely our new local - well done Pierside Cafรฉ & Bar!
Always an excellent, friendly, delicious dining experience and tonight no exception despite the waitress being (by her own admission) out of her comfort zone as she usually works through in the bar. Food awesome: steaks cooked to perfection, burger special ticked all the boxes for 17 year old bottomless pit, vege filo option packed the usual yum-tuous punch, and six year old birthday girl very happy with the fries, fish, and (her personal favourite) the famous Pierside aioli. Friendly, honest waitress and the new mural looks awesome. You know we'll be back :)
Enjoyed an excellent 3 course meal this evening. Plenty of choices on the menu. Something for everyone.
My husband thoroughly enjoyed the 'soup of the day', a hearty tomato with heaps of fresh garden vegetables. I loved the Chicken Tenders served with sweet-chilli sauce, garlic aioli and a salad. Delicious spicy coating and very succulent. Extremely generous portions.
Mains chosen tonight were Baked Salmon and Caesar Salad with Chicken. Salmon was divine. Only negative about the Caesar is perhaps too many salad greens. Again, very generous portion sizes.
Dessert was heavenly. Red Velvet Gateaux served with strawberry ice-cream. Mmmmm!
Very clean and tidy restaurant, well set out with plenty of space between the tables. Relaxing atmosphere.

Went here tonight with a friend, she had the lamb back strap which was melt in your mouth, the salad and potatoes that came with it were devine. I had the chicken...YUM, moist, flavorsome and the salad and wedges that came with were delicious. Very friendly waiter.

Last night I went to this place with my friend, who lives in New Brighton. There really wasn't allot of choice in the area and she raved about it so off we went.
Being from out of town, I didn't really know what to expect, well, am I glad we did. The location is stunning. The Pier. The Beach. You could smell the salt air
The service was friendly, despite the fact that the wait staff were very busy but the food was incredible. We started with the garlic loaf and the mussels which were both beautiful but it was the steak that left me speechless
I have traveled the world and it has to be one of the best I have ever had. There was nothing flashy about the meal, although it was presented beautifully, but it was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. I could have cut it with my spoon
It was suprising in that you simply don't expect this quality and standard at these prices. Highly recommend. A+++++
Based on my meals and meals friends had (separately), we agreed this is a surprisingly excellent place to dine. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection and amazingly tender -- like you could nearly cut it with a fork. The best I've had in many years. The salmon was brilliant also (but could be a tad larger portion for the money). Super service that was sincerely helpful. Pleasant surroundings. The location could hardly be better --we strolled down the pier to walk off our meals (the plaster-you-against-the-wall wind could have been lighter, but can't expect a restaurant to arrange everything for the evening!).

The staff are friendly,courteous and nothing is a problem.They go the extra mile, and on top of that the food is simply divine.I would highly recommend that you take a trip out to New Brighton and visit the cafe and try it for yourselves.I guarantee you wont be disappointed. I just had the best meal at Pierside cafe, with their primo location and delicious food how could I not enjoy sitting outside lapping up the sun and sipping on cool pre-lunch drink .
The staff were friendly without being in your face and are very knowledgeable about the menu. I had the Lap Lap curry and my partner had the fresh fish salad both of our meals were fantastic and we left full and happy! I would highly recommend Pierside Cafรฉ and I will definitely be back for another visit or 2 or 3โฆโฆ. YUM!!:)

As an avid supporter of New Brighton Businesses I was interested to see if the newly introduced menu would warrant a second visit to the Pierside Cafe. I took my friend who had been visiting from the UK there for lunch on Sunday before her afternoon departure and prayed that the food and service would leave a positive final impression on her. I'm pleased to say that not only was the food exceptional but that I was very impressed with the pricing as well. With specials of the day at an affordable price which I felt suitable to the area we were impressed to see variety that suited a range of tastes. I indulged in the Salad from the specials menu which was a hearty helping of fresh greens with large chunks of deliciously marinated chicken and my friend had the pasta with a well spiced and freshly cooked sauce. Our waitress was on the ball, friendly and endlessly helpful. The ambiance was lovely and we both agreed that the place was comfortably decorated and spacious. I would recommend to all even if you have been here before the new menu is well worth another visit ... or 3.
Awesome place, took my parents here for some lunch and they absolutely loved it, great customer service, the lady was lovely and looked after is well ๐ just no outdoor heating or we would've stayed longer, highly recommended place from me ๐ delicious food!!! Platter for 4 is amazing and they have chicken nibbles with no bones in them ๐ณ๐๐ calamari is delicious and so were the nachos!!! Absolutely love this place and we will be back again for more delicious food ๐
Went to eat with my Grandpa. He enjoyed what looked to be a delicious breakfast Sandwhich and I enjoyed the Oceansider which has chicken bacon in a ciabatta bread. The place has a nice view and I will be returning. Thanks for everything. Oh I also enjoyed a kale smoothie which was bomb.

An unpretentious place to have a drink and eat some fabulous food. The food business (Hang Ten) has been a wonderful addition. The vegetarian burger is the best in town.
not sure about their food, but the beer and service is surely good. But the seats and outdoor place can be better cleaned and taken care of.

Took a big group for birthday celebration. Friendly staff, quick service. Food portions were huge and we had to take doggy bags home. Burgers, seafood and ribs. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Will be back
WOW ... Roast of the day "Pork Belly" yum yum yum! I can never eat a roast meal but these guys NAILED it! Bumma my partner ate all hers so I didnt get the usual left over from hers!!! Oh and the barmaid .. she is exceptional, lovely, friendly .... ;-)))))
We had a superb dinner tonight of beautifully presented pan-fried blue cod on bed of kumera, greens and b blanc followed by exquisite lemon creme brulee.Matt, the chef is passionate about his craft so highly recommend him
Cosy little tavern with great bar baskets, friendly staff and even a pool table for free! Next to the pier as well, really enjoyed the piece in here :) we came at 8.3p and unfortunately there was no cooked food anymore, otherwise recommend it a lot :)

We just want to thank Pierside Cafe for a divine dinning experience. We left replete, relishing and rejoicing the fine choices we made. Their chef is an astounding artisan who is confident and caring about their craft. The ceasar salad was a mouthful of marvel and the Moroccan chicken salad teleported the taste buds to a special dimension. If you really want to leave that special someone spellbound or wonderstruck, I highly recommend you order the roasted vegetable salad. You have not seen nor tasted a sensational salad of this kind until you've feasted on one of these. This is because the perfectly condimented and spiced vege are neatly nestled in a heavenly, crispy, puffy pastry which gives the dish alluring appeal. It's like looking at a beautiful comestible flower. At first, ones' almost waiting as if they are expecting to see a nectar drunken bumblebee merrily buzz out from this extraordinary offering. It really is a dish which will excite the senses. Anil, the wonderfully diligent and dedicated gentleman whom attended us capped off a polished and impressive performance. This fine man is a superb asset and contributor to the pleasurable Pierside Cafe ambience. A phenomenal experience and one which I'll be certain to entice others to try.

Really good food the steak was fantastic and the grilled mediterranean with chicken was exceptional.Good friendly service and the old boys playing pool were the reason we first went in.
