I had Thai Red Fish Curry last night. It was amazing. It was enough to feed three people, lots of big chunks of fish, soooo many veges.. yummy, yummy ones, not packed with carrot lol. $22. I will be back, it may not look like it from the outside, but this is the best Thai you can get. Clearly made with pride and skill. Thank you so much for my meal :)

This is my favourite Thai Place, the food has been absolutely delicious every time, does not compare to the couple other Thai Places I have tried. I love the curries, it's so damn good it's become my favourite food and I've tried to make it at home but it's never as good. Friendly staff and quality food.
we were not sure what to expect when we got there but when the food arrived - it was superb and the serves very generous . Certainly beats a lot more fancy Thai restaurants in taste.
Always great food, big portions and fast service . Their mint lamb is one of our favorites and we have never found it anywhere else, best Thai takeaway I have had! Only downfall is that they don't have rotis!
Truly the best Thai in Christchurch! Over the xmas break I struggled to find a Tom Kar Gai that was even half as good as Thai Kitchen's! Also their Larb is fantastic.

The menu card photos present here are a bit outdated. There has been an approximate increase of 2$ for each item in the menu card as of now.
The soup was excellent and served 4 people. The quantity of the items match the prices and it's worth a visit.
The food ThAi Kitchen produces is literally a party in the mouth. With amazing flavors, quality meat, fresh veggies, great quantity and friendly and quick service... we quickly made this place our go to for thAi takeaways.

After numerous restaurants in Christchurch disappointed on the Thai front I am delighted to say the cuisine is alive and well at The Thai Kitchen!! Value for money is unparalleled and the Pad Thai is exceptional. My only slight hiccup whilst eating in was satay skewers were dry but now well into double figures of visits here and it really is some of the best in chch... Staff are also very friendly despite a couple of negative reviews (rubbish) about waiting time, good things come to those who wait people!! Definitely worth it!!

Been going to this takeaway Thai restaurant for about 8 years now and have never had anything but a delicious meal. Best Pad Thai in town, no question.
The meals are large, you can easily get two dinners out of them and the flavors are fresh and strong. The staff are friendly and tireless considering their ever-increasing workload, which has gone up significantly since I've been going there. Obviously a sign of approval!
I'm not big on restaurant reviewing, but chatting with the staff while picking up a meal for me and a friend recently I heard that someone had trashed their previously glowing review record on Zomato. Being quite fond of them and appreciative of their excellent food that I've enjoyed for so long I felt a bit irritated that some foodie critic had gone in once, had a single bad experience and felt that they could safely publish a permanent black mark on my favorite takeaway shop. I thought that a review from someone who's been enjoying their food for almost a decade would carry a fair bit more weight so I signed up to give them my support.

My partner & I are big lovers of Thai. After finding this restaurant on the internet & reading the reviews we decided to try it out. While the cafĆ© itself is quite small the opposite went for theĀ portions! Both of us had to ask for a doggie bagĀ each. Not only was the food one of the best ThaiĀ I haveĀ ever had (my partner has travelled lots & heĀ is still raving about it lol), but the whole time we were there the phone was ringing off the hook & people were coming & going with their takeaways. I remember sitting there thinking it must be really good here & when the food arrived I wasn't disappointed in the least! We will definitely be going back again. Very reasonably priced too ...
Just back from dinner with family. This place still serves amazingly good food, the Tom Yam is the best! This has to be the best value for money food any where in Christchurch. If you want great food this is the place to go.
Best Thai food in Christchurch! Ā Really recommend the pad Thai, spicy fried rice, green curry, or any of the appetisers. Even our kids love it. The staff is awesome and the portions are huge.

We only go here, and have been since the earthquake took our last place out - now I wouldn't go anywhere else. It can be busy and need to phone first if you can get through.

Best thai I have had in Christchurch, I have tried a few places too, I was living in Riccarton but would regularly go over to get my thai food from here as it is the yummiest by far, great food guys, keep it up!

The restaurant is small and easily missed but this tiny shop houses some of the biggest tastes in Christchurch. I think it is among the best, or probably the best Thai food in town, and if you throw in the modest pricing and the massive portions, Thai Kitchen is simply hard to beat.
With three small tables and the door opening constantly for the endless stream of happy customers, it is not the ideal place for a sit down dining experience but the food makes up for all that.
Fresh ingredients, deliciously flavoured and spiced meals and the quick service make this our favorite Thai place in Christchurch, even though we now have to drive 20 minutes to get it. It's worth it.
As has been said while the shop looks small, the quality of the food is amazing and even surpasses many of the big-name Thai restaurants around Christchurch that I've been to. If you're after a cheap Thai feed, I'd absolutely recommend giving this shop a try, they make their food exceptionally quickly as well.

We visited this restaurant during new year's time when we were visiting South Island.
The meals were really big and could easily fill two people.
It was the best Thai food that we have ever tried in life. The chefs are from Thailand and the person who runs the restaurant was a nice kiwi fellow so communication and asking for changes was no problem at all.
Will recommend this place to everyone and will definitely visit it again when we visit Christchurch next time.
p.s.: It's not a great dine in place. The place is perfect for food and takeways but not for fine dining but we went there to enjoy food so no complains.
This is one of the best authentic Thai cuisine kitchens I have been to. Fresh flavours always cooked to perfection. The Penang curry I s a must. Never tasted better! Also recommend the Tom Kai Gai and Pad Thai.
I know this little hole in the wall doesn't look like much, but I can assure you their Thai food is the best in the whole of Christchurch (and potentially the whole of NZ). The Mussaman curry is amazing, big chunks of tofu, packed with lots of fresh veges, cashew nuts and the tastiest sauce. Portion sizes are big enough to easily feed two people and for $16.50, it is incredibly good value. We used to love Keo but their curry is $24 (doesn't even include tofu - just vegetables) and it doesn't taste anywhere near as good. If you want the best tasting Thai food, with an affordable price tag you must check out Thai Kitchen. You won't regret. P.s. if you're getting takeaway.. they're super quick too :)

Best Thai food in New Zealand!! Always fabulous tastes and the ingredients are fresh and super tasty. We try different dishes each time and are consistently wrapt with the full flavours and variety. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the staff are really helpful and friendly. This is our top place for healthy fresh take-away food. I grew up in Christchurch and have tried every single Thai food restaurant/takeaway over my 30 years here. There's a couple of really good ones but this is my favorite. I think the green curry is world class, as is the Pad Thai etc.
I recently moved to New York, which has so many amazing food places, however, I've struggled to find a takeaway Thai place as good as Thai Kitchen in Christchurch. I just came back for 2 days and this as well as Cookai Japanese and the new theatre at Alice and Videoland were top of the list!

My partner and I found The Thai Kitchen when we moved into the area 5 years ago. We have since moved away but now travel to get our fix of delicious Thai food! We have tried several Thai restaurants and takeaways in and around Christchurch and are always disappointed. For us nothing has been able to beat The Thai Kitchens food, it is consistently loaded with fresh veges, the tastes are awesome and portion sizes very generous. We have single handedly tasted most things on the menu, our absolute favourite would be their Penang Curry, followed closely by their Phad Thai. We highly recommend this place!!

I'm making my way through the menu, the meals are always fantastic, the service is fast the prices are excellent, being in the food industry myself I do have very high expectations. Give this place a go because like me you won't regret traveling a little bit further for a great meal.
The Thai Kitchen on Colombo St in Christchurch was a very pleasant surprise, I happened to stumble across it one day, and was so glad I did, it's in my neighbourhood, I've tried alot of thai takeaway in my time and the food here is excelent value for money. It's easily the best Thai takeaway in Christchurch, that I've found, it's great value but you can tell they still only use fresh ingredients, the food tastes great, very flavoursome, fast and friendly service, I will definitely be going back for more and will recommend to friends.

I've had takeaways or dined in at 15 Thai restaurants around Christchurch over the past three years (that I can remember) but for price and quality, consistent across a range of dishes, The Thai Kitchen wins hands down. Some places may do one or two dishes well, but whether we're getting one or two dishes, or five or six for a meal with friends, we are always impressed with the taste and quality of each dish from The Thai Kitchen. We get Thai at least once a week and I won't go past these guys as they're just too good. Great people, excellent food, I highly recommend them.

Had the pleasure of discovering the best Thai food I've ever had and I've been to Thailand and eat Thai regularly. I have since been back several time and it just keeps getting better. The authentic Thai chef knocks it out of the park every time. Friendly service and a homely feel right when you walk in adds to the experience. My personal fav's are the Larb, any of the curry's and Tom Kai seafood soup, it's all to die for. Well priced and excellent portions packed with fresh ingredients. The Thai Kitchen is a must try for locals and out of townees. You will LOVE it!
The best Thai food that i have come across in Christchurch. Friendly service and Delicious food that you can't stop eating. Its ruined me for eating at other Thai food places , really its that good. so tasty and spicy.
This place just feels sooo authentic. The food is great and definitely tastes real Thai. The meals are spicy just enough not to beat the real taste of the meal. They are definitely not saving on vegetables, which is cooked accurately to taste perfectly crunchy, just as it should be.
The environment feels authentic too, so you can tell where the chef comes from.
I was watching the staff working while waiting for my order and I couldn't believe how incredibly they move around the kitchen and how fast the orders come and go. They just don't stop. And all that they do with a big smile on their faces.

Great Thai food, best in town by a mile. Everything cooked fresh and they are not stingy on the veges as most other Thai places seem to be. I would eat there every night of the week if I didn't have to drive across (around) town.

We have been eating there relatively frequently for the last year and the food is so outstanding it almost makes it hard to enjoy Thai food anywhere else.
Our personal favourites are the Masaman Curry, Chicken Cashewnut and their amazing Pad Thai.

The best Thai in Christchurch! Thai Kitchen consistently has amazing food. The drunken noodles have a great spicy flavour, the cashew chicken is a great dish if you're not in to spicy food, for an entree the money bags are superb and their curries are delicious also. My absolute go to Thai restaurant on the south side, for a Tom Kha Gai. Their fried pork pieces are pretty legit too!! Good size and quite reasonable priced for both, compared to the other restaurants on this side of town.

Rang takeaway order through....Was told "15 minutes"...Arrived 15 minutes later and it was there, ready. We've been eating Thai food for MANY years and are really discerning about what's great...and not so great. We've now decided this is our "go to" Thai place!!!The young woman there had a smile and a friendly welcome, despite being on her own, busy, taking orders and cooking, on a very hot evening. The food was DELICIOUS and servings so large, we had leftovers for the next day as well!! Thank you, The Thai Kitchen!
hands down the best thai iāve ever had, and this is my go to cuisine when eating out! we ordered takeaway, yet they still poured so much love into the presentation by embellishing each dish with handcrafted garnishes and a generous variety of fresh veges and meat. the flavours were insane and better than all of the boujee thai spots in auckland combined! iām lowkey gutted that i donāt live in chch, otherwise this would be my regular spot FOR SURE!

The most authentic Thai food I've ever had in New Zealand. Nowhere else I've tried comes close. The quality of the ingredients and presentation is what you'd expect in a good restaurant and the flavours are amazing. Most other Thai takeaways are very bland and Westernised and often it's obvious they've used a bag of frozen vegetables, which certainly isn't the case here.
This place is an absolute hidden gem for Thai food. Every dish on the menu I've experienced is just superb and the curries are seriously to die for. Generous portions, super fresh ingedients, and very reasonably priced. If you haven't yet discovered the Thai Kitchen, do so today!

The food tastes good however when we visited the first time (Nov 2014) , the chap who served us, essentially made no eye contact, did not greet us or smile and was clearly having a bad day. All he said was "that will be half an hour" and told us the price. Just as well the food tastes good.
UPDATE: I have since purchased takeaways on a number of occasions from here. The food actually tastes bloody awesome - just don't expect too much chit chat. :)
