awesome meal the service was great went here with my son for his 18th birthday dinner not much else to say but we will be back in July thank you Denny,s staff from the father and son at table number 1
You kinda know what to expect when you eat at Denny's and my worst claim to fame is that I have eaten at almost every single one in New Zealand. The problem with some of the work that I do on weekends is that I am often finishing up at 2-3am and finishing up hungry too. The benefit of the Denny's chain is that for the most part, they are 24 hours.
The Christchurch one has been a haunt of mine for a while with some of those early morning finishings, but the place is a bit haggard looking. While the decor and furnishings are much the same as the other Denny's this one is just kinda dull looking. Like someone has gone over and taken the shine off everything, but perhaps that's just because the only other people in this place at this time of the morning are either intoxicated; or intoxicated and hungry.
The food is never really anything to rave about. I mean I love the Millennium for its simplicity of meat, cheese, onion and bun, but generally the food is par average - but this is Denny's! If you want an exquisite dining experience, you wouldn't be choosing a place called Denny's now would you. Not even looking at my picture of the burger is going to want to entice you ... but at anywhere between 12 and 5 am in the morning, that burger looks like the best thing since pavlova.
The stand out for me though has for the most part been the staff. At this time of the morning, when dealing with some of the most obnoxious, arrogant, drunken pillocks that could walk in the door ... these guys try to keep smiling and to do a good job. Looking tired and weary from time to time, but they keep going.
They deserve a big Christmas bonus!
Cheap and easy always go here for family events to birthday and ofcourse friends catchup! Its free if its your birthday which is always a bonus :) and opens 24/7 on friday and saturdays which is good after a night out and when your hungry !
Denny's has definitely changed! I remember in the early 2000s the quality of food was really good. However, around mid-2000s there was a change in management, as the friendly manager at the time had then left to work for another cafe which I believe doesn't exist now after the earthquake. I remember around 2006 and 2007 the service had gone down badly after this friendly manager had left. I remember hearing stories of people getting sick after they had ate at Denny's. I also remember one time my dad ordered an apple pie which had taken them a long time to serve and there was also a lack of communication from the waitress. After waiting my dad ended up getting a refund. Since 2007 I had ever been back to Denny's again..... Until 7 years later which was last year I went back to Denny's again and it was hell of a lot better than 7 years ago! It had a totally different range of staff members who were helpful and friendly and the service has definitely improved! The foods that I ate were delicious and have had no problems with the place since then.
The food is enjoyable, but in some instances can look sloppy on the plate and have received food to find it not piping HOT as expected after a wait for it to cook which comes down to how busy the place can get at times. I wish the tickets provided for items ordered would give you a total of food item after placing to make payment easier to organize.
Above Fast Food Quality, all meals could be prepared at home with planning would recommend for a once in a while visit as price stacks up quickly.
Denny's is all too often a restaurant I forget exists, but at 11 at night or 2 in the morning when you're hungry as hell they're a great option (and all other times too).
The service is fast and friendly, the food options are numerous and amazing, their Oero Smoothies are famous, Shoe string fries are really great too. Deserts, breakfasts, burgers, pizza and all on the menu all day. Good prices too.
While sometimes noisy the atmosphere is welcoming and calm. Great for large groups or a solo meal. :)
One of my guilty pleasures I guess. I have been quite a few times, and always consider it value for money. The food is like Mcdonalds, in that it never varies much. But I always go for the ultimate omelette. And sometimes a pancake. For the price it's good. Free filter coffee with the meal. If you can get over the environment, Dennys is a good value for money meal. Just as tasty as Drexels cheaper. And the environment is just as good
Would totally dine here again.
I have always liked Dennys for the fact it's cheap, easy and you can pick reflectively healthy options on the menu rather than some fat riddled burger from MCDonalds. Dennys customer service was pretty good except from an indian man that took our plates away from us when we had barely finished....but apart from that it was pretty good!! GO DENNYS!!!
My family's experience here was a.o.k. I found the service here great and so was the food. We only ordered dessert for our child (she's a very fussy eater so we can only usually find her something on the dessert menu) and the staff had enough initiative to bring it out with our mains without me telling them too as I forgot - well done! Most restaurants if I don't tell them, they don't. I would dine here again.
They offer free breakfast (tea is included) on our birthdays, so I wanted to try on my birthday. The breakfast that I chose was called “Hearty Breakfast” and it was so good! I usually don’t go to American style family restaurants but Denny’s exceeded my expectations. Thank you, Denny’s for free breakfast! ❤️
The millennium burger is huge, beef is juice and tasty. Side fries is good but I was expecting more.
Sundae just average, looks cute but not surprised. Also I have eat a paper piece in the ice cream…
T'was a nice place. Accommodating staff and food was serve quick.
Also have variety of desserts.
I had the Grand Slam. Very similar to the american version. Sausage and bacon are different but very tasty.
This American fast food is new to me, though it has been operating for a long, long time. Can't get this restaurant in my home country, Malaysia. I was surprised by the variety of food found here, and they were good. The meals we ordered were balanced with meat, vegetables and salad. Quite a big helping, price wise, it's worth the money. We had the bbq pork ribs, beef lasagne, and grilled chicken with lemon and herbs. Service was fast and we didn't wait long for our food.
I ordered a open steak sandwich, arrived quickly and looked great, also very tasty, well done team, will definitely be visiting again.
Pretty decent experience, staff were friendly, and food came out in a faily timely manner. Never struggled to get a table. Prices are reasonable, but I have had higher quality food for similar prices elsewhere,
I have always loved Denny’s. Tonight they had warning signs that they might be a bit slow due to illness causing lack of staff but in fact it was really good. We were served by the lovely Luatimu. She took our order quickly and accurately, refilled my coffee and checked that everything was ok. All with a lovely smile. We loved our food. Thank you Denny’s. ❤️
All of our meals were really nicely cooked. Everyone was happy with what they ordered and there was nothing but compliments for the chef.
I ordered the Surf n Turf & the meat was cooked to perfection. The one thing that could be improved on was that it was a little bit gritty & so I had to cut off a few bits.
The customer service was really good from the time we walked in to paying at the end. Each time we go to Denny's in Christchurch they are improving on the last time. Thanks.
Once again, a great experience. We advised the staff we had limited time - the meals came quickly and were hot and tasty. Our experience is always the same here - simple tasty food done well, friendly staff and a reasonable price. What more can you ask for. Well done.
