I booked No.186 Cafe for my wonderful wife's 40th birthday on a Saturday night. They opened especially for us. They gave us heaps of flexibility for the food, drink and room layout. The food was diverse and excellent - everyone there said it was classy and delicious. The range of drinks and prices were great too. It was great to sit inside and outside (we rented a big gas heater for outside) and listen to music. Our guests ranged form 7 years old to 70 years old. All had a great night. The kitchen/serving staff were amazingly helpful, cheerful and fun people. Huge thanks to the owners for their help in creating a great night. I will gladly recommend this cafe to anyone wanting a cool party venue with no hassles.
Beautiful brunch! Took my son, nephew and his friend to 186 for brunch to celebrate 21st birthday. We sat outside info gorgeous outdoor patio. Host was funny and friendly. Service fast and food delicious. Boys loved the mushrooms especially. Gluten free options too. Thanks heaps 186!

Fantastic Place. Great menu. Beautiful Food that's tasty and presented lovely at a reasonable cost. Went with a group and we all very much enjoyed it. Will definitely revisit and recommend to others.
Well we just have to give 186 5-stars. We come here all the time when we are in Christchurch and it's my fiancée's favourite Café in our old hometown. At our last visit (early June 2017) we were there twice in one weekend, and one example of how good the food & service is we just had to tell Rob (the owner) how good the bananas are at breakfast! This is one of the few places we've found that does bananas properly caramelised with French Toast, and they do do them excellently! The atmosphere is great and the outdoors area is fantastic, especially in summer. Having experienced a lot of cafés in both Auckland and Christchurch 186 is right up there in our short list of favourite places. If you haven't tried it then do!

Our group of ladies had a private evening meal at Cafe 186. Our three course meals were all delicious and the service was faultless. Rob ensured the whole process prior to the evening was easy and relaxed and everything just went perfectly. We had a great evening! Thank you so much Rob & team.

Pretty Amazing place. The staff is super friendly and hospitable and the food was creative and delicious. The raspberry and vanilla parfait is a must have!! It is light and creamy with vibrant bursts of raspberry. The horse fin tuna is also amazing, especially paired with the cherry tomatoes. Overall it is a great place to eat at and the presentation is beautiful!
Good food and great service. The jackfruit starter could have a deeper jackfruit flavour with less seasoning and the tuna could be fresher. Overall was a great experience.
Great spot on Lincoln Road, open kitchen, delicious cocktails (the Caramel Espresso Martini is a MUST) and refreshing mocktails. Smoked burrata was super tasty, lamb perfectly cooked (the wee agnolotti were such a great touch!), and dessert an unreal flavour combo (those orange jelly roll-ups - YUM)! Also, amazing service and plenty of parking in surrounding side streets. Thank you!!
Really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was amazing and the service was great too. The chef puts a lot of effort into their presentation and the taste. A truly talented chef. I got the fish of the day and was pleasantly surprised by how perfectly cooked it was and sides really complimented the fish. The sauce was absolutely amazing too. A flavour explosion! We had dinner on a Friday evening. We had a booking, which was just as well, as it was quite busy on arrival. We were quickly seated. We did the 3 course trust the chef option for $75 each. We ended up with the crispy truffle chicken, lamb loin and sticky date pudding. All of the courses were delicious and cooked well. Service was excellent, the food came reasonably quickly. All in all hard to find any fault. Recommended.
Really glamorous interiors and very well-insulated from outside noise! Quite a cosmopolitan and upmarket feel to the restaurant with very attentive staff. Perfect spot for a business lunch with efficient service and several tasty menu options to choose from. Very good quality food that was well-presented, thank you.
Honestly such a good experience. Food is absolutely to die for, although wish we had a steak knife to cut our meat, was very hard to cut with a normal knife! Anyway, the cocktail was absolutely gorgeous. The scallops are delicious and the rest were fantastic. Service is great too, very kind and attentive.

My partner and I enjoyed a lovely dinner together with a Trust the chef experience. The waiters were all incredibly friendly and the food was divine - although portions were small I was worried my partner would still be hungry however the flavours were so intense and perfect that we were so satisfied. Highly recommend! Delicious cocktails and wide selection of wines.
