Great food. Menu is in Mandarin mostly however helpful staff on hand to translate. They had a fun promo on the night we dined which is after a qualifying spend they would do rock, paper, scissors challenge you for a meal discount. It was fun.
Awesome experience. We tried the tomato and beef hot pot. Great selection of vegetables and meat. Makes a good night out.
Portion size good, priced fair, atmosphere Chinese, taste authentic, the only thing could be better is customer interaction experience. Ordering process is cumbersome, requires app and phone. Provide an iPad might be better. Not easy for elderly or someone not familiar with online ordering.
Very good restaurant in the town
Hot pot and Chinese barbeque restaurant, always have deals on for different discounts, keep changing their menu to cater for more variety. The hot pot we had was a one person one, the 8 of us had a few that were boiling the whole time and some others never reaching boiling point. The individual small pot could be better standardised. Overall good experience, nice food and soup base, fresh ingredients, nice table service, kids friendly with a very well decorated kids play area with TV on near the entrance.
Excellent Chinese hotpot. Food was presented well. Fresh vegetables and good quality meats. They even have Chinese charcoal BBQ on skewers there. The family had a great time cooking our own HotPot. The staff are friendly. It's quite a busy restaurant.
A good place for both hotpot, and traditional Chinese food. I've been here twice, once for the hotpot with a bunch of friends and another time recently for the Chinese food dishes with another bunch of friends (and skewers). Very good and very authentic, from my point of view / point of taste. They gave us red sugar glass jelly (Liang Feng) as free gift. Well come and eat here again.
14 April 2019 - I went back today to try their other dishes. I must say that their BBQ dishes (especially the lamb skewers) were delicious, flavorsome and so addictive 😋. I also ordered 麻辣香锅 and 酸菜鱼片. One is spicy and one is not spicy.
The 麻辣香锅 consists of a few prawns, a few lotus root slices, fish balls, sea weeds, pork ribs, celery, [I think] duck blood curds and beef tripe slices. This is a spicy dish and I thoroughly enjoyed it (minus the beef tripe as I am allergic to beef and had rashes due to everything being mixed together). This dish has lots of flavor and slightly numbing due to Sichuan green peppercorns.
The 酸菜鱼片 dish is a sour dish; I think they use blue cod fillets. Lots of chopped sour cabbage in the soup. This soup has a strong flavor and it's so nice to drink 🤤 especially during the cold weather.
Anyway, both dishes go well with rice 🍚. I also ordered a jug of cold plum juice and it was marvellous to drink 👍👍👍.
All the dishes can be ordered on your own phone after scanning the barcode. Each table has its own barcode and there's no limit on the number of people/ phones to order the food. It will show up as one bill for that table.
I'm very satisfied and pleased with my dinner tonight.

31st March 2019 - This is a Chinese restaurant that is located on Brake Street, next to Westlink Shopping Mall, Upper Riccarton area. It is the only restaurant on Brake Street and across the Upper Riccarton Methodist Church's driveway.
Anyway, the interior layout is well set up with two dining areas/ rooms; one for normal à la carte (the practice of ordering individual dishes) and hot pot dining. The place is well lit and it feels kinda cosy.
The hot pot menu is very straightforward with Chinese and English wordings (you need to ask for English menu if you can't read Chinese language like me 😖). It is not overwhelming (which is a good thing) with choices but rather nicely balanced. The drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are on the same [hot pot] menu.
They use beef 🐮 stock as their main ingredient for hot pot soup base/ broth, but you can order a non-beef option too (which there is only one). But be aware that they refill the soup using the bone broth which consists of beef 🐂, lamb 🐑, pork 🐖 and chicken 🐓 (which I was told by the staff).
We ordered a non-beef 🐮 soup base/ broth which consists of chilli and Sichuan green peppercorns (花椒 🌶️😓). The soup base/ broth comes with three different levels of spiciness; mild, normal and hot. I chose normal spiciness (hot) which was good enough for most people (including me!). I do believe that the soup base/ broth (taste) is quite authentic.
Now, we ordered a couple of dishes; a bowl of green-leaf vege, a plate of lamb slices, two plates of sliced potatoes, bean curd noodles and freshly handmade fish balls (a must try!). We also ordered a couple of BBQ dishes (烧烤) and these were delicious; have a lot of flavours and good portion sizes.
Overall, it was a good experience from this Chinese restaurant.
Good portion sizes.
This is a child-friendly restaurant. There's a separate playroom for kids.
This is a licensed (🍻🍸🍷🍾🍹🍺) eatery and not a BYO. There is no outdoor dining area.
There is onsite parking 🅿 but is quite limited. Lots of street parking tho.
They accept cash, Wechat Pay, Alipay and EFTPOS including credit card payments (Paywave payments are available, for those who want to know).
Would I go back? Yes 😀. Well worth a try and you will not be disappointed.
Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. It was yummy 😋.
Ambience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Relax and cosy.
Price: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Reasonable pricing compared to other Chinese restaurants in Christchurch.
Customer service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Friendly staff. I didn't make any reservations. We were lucky to get a table as it became busy at around 630pm. I strongly recommend that you make a reservation as to avoid any disappointment.
Clean, delicious, friendly, and incredibly kind. They opened the restaurant to serve my family hotpot after closing for a private employees party on Christmas Day when they saw we had no where else to go for dinner. 🍲🥰 Give this place a try!
Service , food and ambiance absolutely superb. In fact was the best Hot Pot evening that we have ever had.
Allan Scott Abell Rentals
The hot pot here is best in town! And all staff here are polite and friendly.Only thing is their open hour is very limit and no delivery. But we’ll definitely come back;)
A good place for both hotpot, and traditional Chinese food. Food was presented well, Fresh vegetables and good quality meats. Would go again.
Amazing cultural experience if you aren't Asian, feel right at home if you are.
Hot pot is amazing however can be expensive. If your getting the chilli one be sure to take the chilli's out as soon as you get it as they are ridiculously spicy and numbing
Authentic as can be since it's not in China, the hotpot can be pricy if you're not careful.
