Reviews Soul Quarter

The atmosphere at Soul Quarter is best described as moody. The stained glass windows are beautiful and add to its authenticity. Seating is comfortable and lighting appropriately dim. The food for our group was nicely cooked and tasty with a couple of standouts, the parsnip soup and the filling for the lemon tart were delicious tho the tart base was inedible. Too hard to bite or cut so all 3 of us left it. If you are looking for a good filling meal with generous portions then this is for you. An enjoyable meal but not special.

A very classy nice restaurant. A warm welcoming, followed by an excellent service, with a lot of attention to details on order to please you. The service always with a smile and very patient with us. Big surprize every time food came to the table - it just looked so awesome and tasted even better! All in all definitely worth visit, if you have the opportunity to go eat there, do not hesitate!

The food was amazing, beyond expectation. We chose "let the chef choose", and the dishes were fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. The services was perfect, and our waitress was so attentive but non intrusive, such a professional. She was knowledgable about the dishes and wine, and if we asked a question she didn't know she would find out for us. Great atmosphere, great food and service, a rare treat to get all three.

What a beautiful atmosphere. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious with decent sized meals. The "light dish" beef cheeks was actually very filling and plentiful. The lime cheesecake had a strange colour dark green topping, I wouldn't order that again. We enjoyed our visit.

The food is extremely tasty and beautifully presented. For the type of place, the portions are more generous than many other higher end offerings around. Everything was cooked perfectly and nothing was left. Staff were attentive and lovely, and the place itself is beautifully atmospheric with appropriate lighting, music and large stand glass windows. The steak and lamb were perfect as was the fish. Entree of fried chicken waffles and cheesecake rounded out our meals. Nice selection of local wines. Price is high but is expected for the type of place but worth it.

What an EXTRAORDINARY Evening. I mean seriously wasn't sure what to expect but WOW. We made a booking of course, it's a fairly small restaurant for indoor seating. With sections up and down. They have several outdoor tables as well. We arrived about 5 minutes before our booking and we greeted with a smile and escorted to our table. We dined on a Monday and were concerned with attire however jeans and a nice shirt are fine. Some were more dressed but you will be fine. We reviewed the menu and drinks and were quickly asked for our drink order. We had several questions and Abby did an amazing job answering them. She was very knowledgeable on the menu. We started with some Syrah wine from George's Road winery and a Maid on High Street. We also ordered a Fondue and it came out hot and very nicely displayed. It was delicious and if it was any predetermination of our mains it was totally worth the wait. Soon our meals came out, Salmon, 300g Age Sirloin, the Venison and the Chicken burger. All were cooked perfectly and tasted Delicious. I mean seriously guys if you have the chance to experience this please do it. Read my reviews we eat a lot of different places and this place was great. From service, to food, to the overall atmosphere (and music), it was ONE of The Best experiences. ***Hot Take*** My family surprised me with a dessert for my non-birthday. Hey, in Christchurch? Need food? Go Here now, you will not be disappointed!!

The two of us celebrated our Christmas Eve here in Soul Quarter. Luckily still able to book a table at 5:45pm. We ordered a soup, venison carpaccio, for mains we chose lamb and salmon, with side salad and fries. We loved every dish except for the carpaccio which didn’t really have much flavor. However, the lamb, salmon were cooked perfectly which were both tender and flavorful. And the portion of the sides were also quite large, we were very full after the meal. The service and the environment were also great. We definitely had a lovely evening here. Would come back again next time when we’re back in Christchurch.

What a great find! On our last night in Christchurch this restaurant was less than 100m from our accommodation and did not disappoint. Food was delicious, service excellent and atmosphere just right - not too noisy and not too dull. Plenty to choose from on the drinks list too.

I thought it was a bit hard to find the place coz they share the same space as cascade. Inside, it has a warm and comfortable ambiance. The food was good but not mind-blowing. The staff were very friendly and service was outstanding and for that I'd visit again and also because I loved their cocktail menu.

Very odd, unexpectedly refreshing combinations of flavors and presentation. Had to chase down the server for desert, probably just being picky...desert was worth it!
