Great food & amazing service here! Stepped into the place around 830 & the kind service staff was enthusiastic about food recommendations & constantly checked on us to see if we needed anything else. The tuna, Thai salad & garlic prawns were absolutely fantastic but not that big a fan of the Pork Belly nor fried rice. Easily the best food we have had in New Zealand over our 10 day trip!

So pleased to have discovered this restaurant! We are always on the lookout for an artistic dining experience that is creative, distinctive and journey of new and wonderful discoveries. Some of these treasures were the combination of little puffed seeds and pomegranate as a garnish on the pakora(highly recommended) and the textures of the wild boar skewers(also mind blowing). Each dish is a stand alone piece and we were very happy that the wait staff brought them out separately so the we could share each one without mixing flavours. The chef also managed the floor and it was lovely to have opportunity to engage and ask about the flavours. Highlights: Pakora, Wild Boar, top three desserts, and cocktails. New favourite restaurant.

This place is one of our favourites in Chch. The service from Olivier was attentive yet understated (you don’t feel like he’s interrupting you at all), his music is always en pointe. The food is close to perfect, our favourite so far is the Ahi tuna, mushroom taco, market fish and eggplant. Drinks are also amazing. Can’t stop raving about this place!!

Food was pretty good. My personal favourite was the boar skewers. The prawns were also really interesting to try with all the texture going on. All the sauces that came with the dishes were absolutely packed with flavour, especially the honey feta that came with the pork belly main. Personally I didn’t like the pannacotta though and I think the desserts could be more related to their Asian fusion theme. I got the strawberry virgin cocktail for a drink and it was so good, really refreshing sweet and tart flavour. I would honestly come again just for that. Service was excellent, friendly and attentive but not too overbearing.

Had a very enjoyable experience at The Goldfinch this past Saturday. I had the tofu fritters and the wok tossed veggies, both were full of flavour and generous in size. My friend really enjoyed her curry as well. Great service and a lovely vibe inside too, lovely and warm on a cold Christchurch night. Would definitely recommend if you are a fan of Asian fusion.

Another fantastic meal. The tuna is perfect, highly recommended! Everything we have here has beautiful flavour profiles and excellent attention to detail. We also had the pork belly (pictured) which was delicious. The service is superb, very attentive without being overbearing…and nothing is a problem. Can’t wait to come back. I wish I could give goldfinch 20 stars out of 5 😁❤️❤️

The Goldfinch is very inviting and has gorgeous decor with lovely staff to welcome you. I ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna to start and Mapo Tofu for the main. Highly recommend both. Pre-warning… Cocktails here are addictive too. The flavour balance of the mango salsa, ponzu and citrus herbs are a perfect match for the sesame crusted seared tuna! Mapo tofu isn’t everyones cup of tea but I highly recommend if you like the numbing sichuan spice that accompanies the tofu. This has to be one of the most authentic chinese dishes and The Goldfinch done it justice! This restaurant holds a high standard (clearly!) and turns these classic dishes into works of art. Amazing talent from the chefs in the kitchen and the staff in front of house!

Was in Christchurch for a business trip and arrived late on a cold rainy night at nearby hotel. The Goldfinch was one of the few restaurants within walking distance and though I was hesitant about trying fusion Asian food in Christchurch decided to give it a shot. The menu had a good selection and I decided to go with something light - chicken satay salad and was definitely not disappointed. The dish has delicious the service was great and the ambiance welcoming. Would definitely come back when in town.

The food was all perfect! The drinks were super pretty & yum. Only thing was that it was sooooo cold when we got there which made it a bit uncomfy, that aside it was amazing night ☺️🥂

Lovely restaurant, great staff and nice atmosphere, the concept of this place is really fun with all the sharing plates. Excellent cocktails made strong. So why four stars? Well, one of the dishes we had (the honey chilli lamb stirfry) was a big let down, the meat was rather chewy and grisly, for a large sharing plate it was rather small, not much bigger than one of the medium plates and the overall taste was quite bland. But other than that mishap, it was a lovely outing, will be back.

Had a delicious dinner at The Goldfinch recently! Love the small plates as you can try a bunch of new food - great prices and portions! Also enjoyed the Pork Belly and Thai Beef Salad for our mains and they were just divine 😍 beautifully cooked meat on both dishes. Overall relaxing atmosphere with the subtle music playing and very attentive welcoming staff. Will definitely be back 🥟 ps best dumplings in town

A lot of options to choose from off their menu, from sizes to food options. Something for everyone. Had a birthday dinner, was surprised with a cute little dessert cake by the staff. Something you don’t see everyday. Will definitely come back as food was 10/10.

Wonderful food. We were there using 'First Table' so there weren't many diners. The options given to us by the maitre d' were perfect. Tacos were voted by the table as the favourite.
