One of the best places to eat in Dannevirke has become a regular place to dine.
Had lunch yesterday out of town at another well known establishment, was a bit disappointed....The Black Stump does the BEST Chicken Caesar Salad in the district I swear..:-)
Always a good meal wether it's breakfast, coffee with the girls, lunch or dinner

Paid total NZ$35.90 for a fish & chips (1 piece NZ$17.50), a bacon & egg melt (NZ$9), a cappuccino (NZ$4.70) and a mochacino (NZ$4.70). The food was tasty. The drinks was good too. Service was friendly. Ambience was relaxing.
This is the second time we have stopped at Black Stump while passing through Dannevirke and it has easily become a favorite. A warm atmosphere, helpful staff, and great food!
Very nice soy hot chocolate, arrived after 4pm so was nice to see a place open and busy for that hour of the day. Cant say anything about the food, as all we wanted was a drink, but a good selection still in the serve over.
The service was good, prompt and polite. The food was delicious and filling. I had the Angus steak (medium rare) and it was perfectly cooked and very tender. This was followed by a triple chocolate cheesecake. I left very full and satisfied.
Friendly staff. clean environment, quiet place. we started with giabatta drizzled with basil oil garlic butter and aioli, We also had lambsfry with mashed potato bacon mushrooms and tomato. very tasty, we enjoyed our meal.

Great food, but very slow service
I had Dory crumbed, with a very nice house made tartare sauce, but crumb on the Dory made it unnecessary , so had it with the yummy chips. Salad was nice tasty. Will certainly go back
