Bit delayed sorry, but wanted to say HUGE thank you to Riah and the team for a fabulous weekend 20th birthday lunch for my son a few weeks ago. Service was outstanding, as was the food and staff are all so friendly. Riah had great communication regarding details and was unbelievably accommodating right down to letting us supply own birthday cake. Will SOOOOOO be back again and highly recommend to anyone wanting an extra special experience. Thanks so much - you're all stars!!! :)

Busy little place on a Sunday morning. Had a hipster and industrial feel to restaurant. Large array of cabinet food. Very helpful wait staff. Ordered the works, tomato chutney was amazingly sweet and tangy at the same time. Great variation than my usual tomato sauce. Perfectly runny eggs.

Good variety of gf meals which was mean cos it’s annoying when places don’t. Dec coffee rated that and thanks for the almond milk option as can’t have lactose or soy so that was mean as well. Salsa verde on top of my hash stack as a great combo, hash stack was slightly on the less warm side temp wise but food got served so fast.
Eggs were excellent in terms of the yolk being runny and good know that everything is free range!!!!! Loved the indoor fire too - thanks for having me

Before i visited Dunedin, I’ve heard about Vogel’s Street Kitchen and it was literally my first stop after I landed there in the morning. The interior is beautiful and spacious and I LOVED every bit of the retro and artsy vibe that the furniture, lighting and layout was screaming at me. Their cabinet was full of scrumptious looking treats that were extremely eye-catching. The sizes of their bakings (scones, muffins etc.) were all jumbo in size for the price that they charge and looked super delectable.

Nice cafe with a energetic vibe to it. The sandwiches are great and the pizzas looked fantastic. Slightly limited menu but for what the place specialises in it is a great place for a meal.

Overall rating: 8/10
we ordered: the Eggs Benedict $21.50 and Brown Sugar Buttermilk Waffles $18.50. Both were top notch and would highly recommend. Eggs were cooked perfectly; runny yolk and what not. Bread was crisp and salmon was fresh. Waffles were soft and creamy- Complimented the cooked rhubarb. Portion sizes were decent too. Fries $5.90 was also crispy and yum 😋
Average price: $24 incluing drinks
Vibes: family brunch
Parking: free parking on Sundays. Meter parking available.
Negative: really busy. 40 minute wait for food. However it was during O week and the Robby Williams county never doubled Dunedin’s population lol. Also they forgot that we ordered fries so fries came out late but they apologized.
Loved: industrial decor. Very hip. Felt like I was in Wellington/Auckland for a hot minute. Food presentation is grammable too.

Pulled pork sandwich was amazing. On a separate occasion we had a very nice family brunch as well. Coffee has been good each time. Kids have plenty of space (there are also a few toys). Upstairs space is a bit lighter which is nice a the downstairs is a bit dingy from the lack of natural light (not a big deal)

I live in Auckland these days and believed we have the jump on great eateries. How wrong was I. I'm pleased to say that Vogel Street Kitchen exceeded all expectations. We had a LARGE family group for fathers day lunch (with a couple of last minute extras). The  industrial-style wood and steel decor is a feature. The atmosphere was warm and vibrant. I orderd the eggs benedict with salmon and a flat white. Fantastic! It was hard to choose something from the menu. There were so many mouth watering options! The staff were attentive, friendy and professional. No hesitation in recommending this eatery!

Took the family here for pizza and drinks. Nice venue and toys for the kids. Drinks were pricey the pizza was good - simple clean tasty flavours. Staff were nice, though no follow up service at the table.

Second review: came for lunch with a friend, was aware that though busy it was still relaxed enogh to chat. Food and coffee was good.

We came here the first time , but having to wait 40 mins with kids was too long. 2nd time we phoned ahead & booked a table. We knew what we wanted having already looked at the menu. We ordered the pulled pork Sandwich , yum ‼️great value for money. Kids had pizza & bacon & eggs. The service was quick, & the ambiance is very cool 👍🏻

Amazing place with great food and coffee. We had brunch here three times while visiting Dunedin for a week and it was our favorite place. It is popular and can be busy, but the food was sensational

The food here is exceptional! Nothing extravagant. The combination of flavours in the dishes are simple and spot on! We had the creamy mushroom soup, bruschetta ( there were 2 types: I liked the salmon one better), and a taieri plain pizza. All these dishes were so good that I have midnight cravings for them these days!

Like other reviewers have mentioned, this place has a funky vibe with great decor! I've come here for breakfast and lunch before but I'm yet to come for dinner! I haven't tried their woodfired pizzas but one of my favourite things from here is the woodfired sandwich! So delicious! This place is great to come for a meal or just for a coffee! Would definitely recommend :)

My 1st experience was good, all my friends that have been there before my hubby & I said they have a good food & funky atmosphere :) I enjoyed their brunch menu, since I'm pregnant I couldn't have poached egg yet so I requested them to swap it with scrambled egg instead on my yummy brunch. I'll come dine in if I visit Dunedin again. It's quite a busy café/restaurant so they won't accept any bookings unless you have more than 5 people that are coming. We came here for a Sunday brunch around 10a.m and luckily it wasn't busy for us to walk in. :)

In one word...funky! Popped in for breakfast after being recommended this as a great place and it lived up to the hype.

Food was delicious and there was a lot of variety to cater for all palettes. Coffee was decent; full-bodied, not burnt, and a great caramel colour. Service was good. Only blip for me was the vinegar taste in my poached eggs...yes, it is a nit-picky thing, but it was noticeable to me so commenting accordingly.

While it was quiet when we were there, I can imagine this place gets packed so probably a good idea to book.

Had a birthday brunch for nana here. Luckily had reserved a table... Very busy and noisy. Was seated on the first table when you walk in but did appreciate people queuing right by our table, especially when their bums are at table height! Fabulous location in the recently refurbished Warehouse district! Love the atmosphere and decor. Would like to change the seating around to make it more practical

Wow, what a feast I had! Their Fries are cooked to a perfection crunch! The Aoli is delicious and the mocha was spectacular! I do recommend stopping in and trying Vogel St Kitchen for brunch! NB only rated 4 stars for Food as I prefer my Mochas a bit hotter than was served.

Big fan of the pulled beef brisket! The portion sizes are hugeeeee. Meat is well seasoned and literally falls apart at the touch. Not a big fan of the atmosphere, it's a bit dark inside for my liking but with the fireplaces on it's nice and cozy.

Good food indeed. Soup of the day was done nicely but tasted a little too sweet for me. The good side is that the soup was gluten and dairy free. Eggs with smoked salmon and bacon were perfectly matched and we enjoyed the cozy vibes there. I also packed a coconut cake which was tasted amazing. Worth a try if you want a solid brunch.

Loved the atmosphere, lovely old building and nice big tables. Coffee was decent and good breakfast options. Note: it's one bill for one table so keep in mind if there are few of you that want to pay separately. The salmon on the breakfast stack was a good size and nice and tasty. Thanks Vogel St Kitchen!

Booked this place for brunch on the recommendation of my Dunedinite cousin, and it was even better than she told me it would be. I needed a table of eleven and booked for 10:30am, but half of us ended up arriving just after 10am. I was anxious about the reception we might get from the staff but I needn't have - they were so welcoming, graceful and friendly even though the place was busy and we were clearly causing them extra work! The coffee was outstanding. The food we ordered from the kitchen was hot, generous, hearty and delicious. The cabinet food equally so! The cheese scones were enormous and really good. Everything got devoured. The staff were so accommodating and kind, checked in on us, came and took multiple coffee and food orders, as further members of our party dripped in, with patience and good humour. The decor is industrial warehouse but still warm, clean, cosy with a fire roaring in the centre and light and bright. We absolutely loved it and wished we had found it earlier. Thank you to the lovely staff there for making our final meal together a special and memorable one. We will definitely be back next time we're in Dunedin.

Vogel St Kitchen was the place we had breakfast. The atmosphere inside is nicely decorated and gives off a warm and cozy feeling. The food there was above average although some specific food items isn't as good as advertised such as the polenta fries. But overall the meals are great and the atmosphere is cozy on a cold winter day.

Absolutely loved this gem! Great staff, coffee, big generous portions! The menu will satisfy kids or hangover ones 😁. And the whole space is so well done with so much soul to it! And they use Bonsoy milk (do your research if you don't know this brand 😉)

We were not told when told we were upstairs that we had to come back down stairs to order, only when we asked were we told this. Communication would have been nice. Table service would have been better as we had sight impaired persons and issues with hips walking sticks etc and been upstairs having to go down stairs to order was hard for some of our party
