Sadly, son, Harry had to stay home. He got Covid for his birthday. But although we had to cancel dinner I picked up the cake and delivered to the doorstep (see photos). Harry said it was delicious!!!

Nice place, food was tasty but portions were a little small, typical of higher end food venues. 2 or more courses would be recommended. Three adults with mains and a couple of desserts, plus a drink was ~ $140 Staff were friendly and attentive. Would go back happily.

Great food and atmosphere, local cuisine with a very refreshing mediterranean influence. Waiters were super nice, but it would have been great if they could assist more with recommendations.

Loved this place! So so pretty with nice staff.. And the best chocolate chip cookie. The menu is (finally) different that other cafes, so you can try something more interesting than just "big fry-up". The Mediterranean breakfast was delicious, including great olives and tasty Feta. Coffee was great! Loved my burger and chips (huge portion)!

What a lovely place to meet and socialise. We had a lunch booking and the service and food were both so good that we forgot we are only in Dunedin. My guest had an allergy and the willingness to accommodate was incredible. The information about the ingredients offered and the options available were friendly and most helpful.

The liver pate paired with fragrant charred sourdough was the highlight of our meal. The proteins were cooked well and tender. However, the amount of goat cheese in the venison was overpowering.

A lovely spot for a quiet catch-up or a large group. There’s downstairs seating as well, with option of outdoor/garden tables. One of the best savoury scones I’ve had! Will be back here when in Dunedin again.

Very friendly and helpful service. Sadly on the day we went they seemed to be out of a lot of menu items like the fish of the day etc, but the food that was left was still absolutely delicious. Will happily return when I am down this way again.

Honestly, I underestimated about Dunedin. I’m surprised how great restaurants and cafes the city has. No 7 Balmac is definitely five stars for food, staff, atmosphere… all categories. I want to visit them again.

Taste: 5/5 Price: $$$ Portions: medium Atmosphere: 5/5 The house lemongrass soda was a bit disappointing, but besides that everything else was delicious. Expensive (~$40 /main) but worth it for a fine dining experience.

What's a hidden gem! "The desserts were the best of Dunedin.", my mate said. All foods were brilliant and surprised, great vibes. It was a bit pricey, but worth it.

Phenomenal food, great taste and delicious coffee. Just the Mediterranean brekky was so small portion than expected but so very delicious. They have a great vegetable garden and herbs, some fruit trees.

We enjoyed the whole afternoon here immersing in the cozy ambiance. Sunshine filtered through the window pane behind me, time was so slow at that time. We ordered comfort food followed by an affogato as a sweet touch. Staff were attentive and friendly. We will definitely come back to try some more on the menu. Highly recommended.

Wow!!! One of the best grilled beef in my life. And also the dessert. I believe it still value for money. Portion is enough to be shared with ny wife. Went there for second time for brunch, great Balmac Burger and Eggs Benedict.

Love this suburban eatery in Maori hill. Very cozy settings with lots of coaches, booths, bar leaners and tables. Well stocked bar with premium wines and spirits. We had lattes and shared the breakfast with an additional serve of beet cured salmon. Coffees were rich and smooth, all the food with a middle Eastern touch was very delicious. Most front of house staff here are very courteous and knowledgeable. We have paid several visits to this eatery and I am sure we will visit again in a week or two. Enjoyed our coffee and baking this afternoon at this awesome place. This is one of our favorite place so we had to bring our guests from Auckland to show that our small city has some outstanding hospitality outlets as well. Thanks team for yet another memorable treat. I can't drive past this place without stopping for some food break. The coffee is always strong and hot, as per my liking and the food is delicious. Our party had a few drinks and nibbles before dinner. Girls Loved the processo and i relished my latte. Warm olives were great with flavours of coriander and cumin infused in olive oil. The turkish bread was to its normal high standard. All the girls on the floor are super knowledgeable and friendly. See you next time team. Thanks
