Beautiful stop in Dunedin. The grounds are stunning and highly suggest going to the top for a nice view. Beautiful flowers and other plants throughout the castle and grounds. Cafe has a good selection of food and beverages. Highly recommend the dinner at the castle (reservations needed). The food was fabulous.

Adult prices are NZD45 for both castle and gardens, which I highly recommend. Easily able to spend an entire day there just learning about the culture and history of the place! I love it so much. P.S. I cycled up and regret it a little because the uphills are insanely steep. 😂

Amazing place, they are restoring and the entry money goes towards this. Very nice gardens with some awesome views. The castle itself is interesting and very informative. There are maps with information that are really handy. There's a baby change room in the toilets which is really helpful. If you have a baby, you'll want to take a baby carrier not a pram to be able to see everywhere.

A wonderful place to see some amazing views and great history. Enjoyed our visit as part of a tour from the cruise ship. Beautiful gardens to wander thru and smile at the cute bumble bees

This historical, charming and beautifully restored castle is definitely a must-see when you're in Dunedin, New Zealand. You can wander around the castle and admire the rooms and ornate decor. There are also very lovely gardens surrounding the castle. There is a cafe on the premises.

A very special visit to a special place. We had our wedding reception in the ballroom nearly 47 yrs ago and this time we were lucky to dine with a group of 20 others in the music room in the castle. Excellent staff, excellent food, and a great private tour of the lower level rooms. The ceilings are outstanding... as is the staircase. The accommodation is beautiful; carefully decorated and attention to detail. A wonderful experience . If you can, treat yourself. The gardens too, are magnificent

What a beautiful experience viewed this beautifully restored castle first, went through the lovely gift shop, stopped at the Cafe for a little break, where there was a delicious assortment of food and beverages. We then proceeded to walk around the beautiful garden with spectacular view of the rolling hills and the sea.

What a fabulous gem! Who knew there was a castle in New Zealand? I sure didn’t. I’m so glad we got to tour this wonderful castle and gardens. There restoration process is still going on, but it doesn’t affect your visit too much. Make sure you do a tour of both the castle and gardens.
