Old fashioned diner. Had dinner here on my last night in Dunedin. Didn’t regret it. Order calamari, lamb and pork. Full on American portions. Calamari 4/5 - beautifully seasoned and breaded. Lamb 4/5 - nicely done. Mash was excellent. Just was perfect. Pork 3.5/5 - meat was a little dry. Other than that good dish.

Just hit there for a casual meet up with a mate. The place was quite busy at that time. People were enjoying the good weather outside. Inside the bar there were plenty of spots to sit. I have ordered some coldies, wine, a baked garlic loaf and a fish basket. OMG their food is amazing. I never had such good garlic loaf before. It’s a Ciabatta loaf. Fish is beautiful and it’s good effort. The young staff is super friendly and ez. They said they don’t serve mains in the bar. So if you are going there for dinner plus drinks, you better call them and ask which area they serve both. They had a few different setups. I can recommend this place if you are looking for a good vibe, wine and dine.

Hard to enjoy meal because of the old, small and very uncomfortable chairs. Would have sat in booth but the booths are too narrow and as a plus sized person was squeezed in their like a panda in a pantsuit. On plus side, I still love their Dixie chicken and their banoffee pie was awesome. Service excellent and food arrived quickly. I really like that they bring jellybeans with the check. Food reasonably priced

Such a fabulous dining experience for a large group on my birthday. We were so well looked after by Anashai who was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient, going above and beyond to make sure our table and all its dietary requirements were catered for. Excellent food and service despite it being very busy and a Saturday night. Will be back. Thanks so much team. Love Dunedin Lone Star 🌟

Came here to dine on my birthday and boy, was I in for a treat! Lovely service overall, very friendly and was definitely spoilt. Ordered the ribs as per usual, cooked very well, had generous amount of sauce on top and was delicious! (Note that however I have found that when cooked in bulk (Lonestar was the venue for our end of year class dinner), I've experienced very dry ribs-inconsistency in-preparation?) great salad, not soggy at all, and average potato wedges, not super crisp. Also got offered salt and pepper seasoning in the fanciest way through a very long shaker by the flamboyant waiter and was definitely pleased! For dessert, creme brûlée and longhorn cheesecake were picked. Creme brûlée was delicious, the topping excellently crisp and sweet with a loose silky pudding base underneath. The cheesecake was well balanced with the whipped cream and it was very creamy and decadent. Not too sweet but chocolately enough for that sweet tooth fix! On the house items were the kiwi pavola with a cute candle on top, and the waiter also offered us tea! Super fancy set up, and we had little cups of milk on the side too! Was such a lovely surprise. Definitely recommend going on your birthday for a special meal, had a lovely time! This ended up becoming my yearly birthday routine-ribs at lone star!

Just had a dinner at Lone Star with my wife after completing a personal goal. I am happy with the amazing service of their staff and excellent food. I also received a complimentary pavlova cake for celebrating my success today. I recommend Lone Star to anyone who want to enjoy good food or to celebrate a special day with friends.

Very popular, easily a 30-45 minute wait in Friday/Saturday nights, but you can wait with a drink at the bar. Huge portions, hearty flavours, good value, and nice staff. Has WiFi but can be patchy depending on where you're sitting.

Fantastic foods! I hate the salad normally but I can finish Lone Star's one, maybe they put some magic sauce in it😂 The best soft lamb ever in Dunedin. It was too full for 2 of us, otherwise I will try the Dessert. I will be back!
