Golden Island Restaurant - Dunedin - Photo album

Our go to for authentic Chinese dishes. So many great options. They have proper handmade dim sums and desserts/buns. Similar to what you can get if you're in China. True to the flavours and ingredients. Always a good experience eating here.
Came for a hearty flat dinner on 3/3/19, and a lovely hearty dinner were we served! Definitely up there, unfortunately not comparable to places in Auckland, but for Dunedin it's not bad! Prices were average, similar to other Asian restaurants in town, and the portion sizes are also similar and stand
I very much recommend Golden Island! Tried the Prawn dumplings and Braised Pork Belly. Both were excellent. I'll definitely be back!
We were planning on having brunch at Booster Greens but they were packed out. Walked past Golden Island and the menu photos caught our eye. We went in and the place was spotless and clean. Lady at the counter was welcoming and seated us straight away. You can see into the cooking area and it is so s
Met my expectations. Reasonable prices for good portions. Friendly and helpful staff with quick service. Plenty of space for groups. I had the Beef Brisket noodle soup, it was yum. They don't have the spicy chilli oil but crushed chilli &garlic mix with other oils and sauces also beers and wines. De
This is a small Chinese restaurant hidden away in Dunedin Town centre. Came here for a celebration with family and friends. Surprisingly, the cooking here was good, and food was tasty. Though the style of cooking is different from our home country. Quite affordable, forget about the conversion rate
The restaurant is located in the CBD area. The place is quiet even though there are a lot of foot traffic. The food was great and the serving size was huge, didn't expect that and we ordered quite a few from the menu. A goog place to eat for group of people. A definite must try if you're in the a
Me and my partner decided to try this place as it opened relatively recently, and we were not disappointed! We ordered lots of starters, which are normally on the yum cha menu during lunch. The tripe and the fried squid were probably my favourites, but all of the dishes were really good! Even my par
Came for a bowl of congee which was PERFECT and just what I needed. The guy working front of house went out of his way to customise my order and seemed happy to do it (overall great vibe). I felt silly for only spending $9 when service was this great, so I added a takeaway noodle dish for lunch tomo
Great place!! Food was so delicious and the servings were very generous! Customer service was awesome. A new fav spot to eat. :))
Their roasted duck is probably one of the best that I've had in New Zealand. Chicken sticky rice and other yum cha menu items are really delicious too. Totally recommended.
Good selection of dishes, centrally located. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and good seating arrangements.
The food is so good and I really like their dinnerware. Very work caf type of atmosphere tho
Traditional Chinese food, Chinese and English spoken here. The waitress was very helpful. Good selection of food on the menu, the dishes were quite large. I had hot spicy fish soup in a massive bowl which would have served 4 people. My wife had duck with rice. The food was tasty and well presented.
Had dim sum there and they were really good! Thank you so much for the effort. My chef husband was also impressed with their clean and tidy kitchen.
Their dim sum 5/5 and other food 5/5 Their food was super fresh and tasty!!! Even sweet and sour pork was so fresh, I was so surprised!! Will defo visit again
The Mongolian beef and sweet and sour pork are our absolute favourites generous portions and great service
