Authentic Chinese dining, not cheap eats or takeaway joint. I would go here again soon with some friends. BYOB allowed too.

Every dish was fresh and very aromatic. My favourite would be the steam chicken with chilli sauce, it was quite a large portion seeing as it was a cold starter dish and the numbing effect of the peppercorns was highly addictive! The restaurant was clean and comfortable with quite an Asian feel to it, and the staff were amiable and humorous.

Yaaas finally here to experience the manor! We were greatly very warmly by the staff and squeezed in just before a reserved table at 7:30. The place isn’t massive but it’s very cozy and with a very homely feel and the kitchenette was very nicely presented.

Slow cooked sliced beef-very tender beef with hot chili sauce.
Cabbage and fish-tender fish pieces with bean sprout, with hot chili sauce.
I’m reviewing these two together because they literally had the same spicy numbing taste, it was tasty, especially if you enjoy spicy food, however it wasn’t anything else apart from the spice and taste of peppercorns. Both meats were very tender but nothing else special to note. 3.5/5

We waited a bit longer for the rest of our meal and I was definitely getting hangrier by the minute, staff were courteous but the wait was not great.

Next was Buddha’s feast; food range of stir fried veg in soy sauce but nothing special. Also felt there was too much cabbage, but the veg weren’t over cooked and held good texture. 3.5/5

Chairman mao style braised pork-the anticipation for this meal was so damn high, and honestly I nearly cried when it came. The meat wasn’t dry at all even the lean parts which were fantastic, the fatty wasn’t melt in your mouth and still had a slight firm texture (which I enjoyed). The sauce wasn’t overpowering and it was a good balance between salty and sweet. Personally I think home edition’s is slightly better and it’s for the same cost too. 3.5/5

Tofu (they couldn’t make fried today)-wow much better than I originally bought. The flavour was a slightly sweet soy and the tofu texture was absolutely delightful, it didn’t fall apart and held its shape, and it was wonderfully complemented with onion and egg on the bottom. 4/5

Twice cooked pork belly with chili sauce-did well on the typical taste, with extra bean bean sauce flavour, however I did find that the pork belly strips were cooked quite tough to chew. It was well done on the whole but I’ve had better with the same taste. 3.5/5

Overall the food was pretty good, service a tad slow but the staff were amazing and they gave us (one) free coke. Everything was tasty, only that some of the meals didn’t blow me away, and you can get very comparable food for a better price in other places! Good experience though, do rate them!

Food was amazing coming from someone who has eaten and reviewed Chinese Food all over China and Southeast Asia. The hot and sour soup wasn't overly spicy or sour, the proportion was just right. Love the Smoked Tea Duck, perfect tenderness and smoky flavours that reminds me of 酱板鸭 from Hunan minus the extreme spiciness. The cauliflower was also tasted good. Even the plain white rice was fragrant! Compared to the one we tried in Christchurch, this is way better at more reasonable prices.

One of my new favorite Asian restaurants in Dunedin!!! Definitely top 3. We ordered so much and everything was so delicious. We started with the pecking duck and it was soooo goood and the portion size was generous. Then we had other dishes like tofu, lamb, noodles and more. We were so satisfied by the end of the night. The staff were very friendly and welcoming too. Definitely coming back again!

Routinely the most difficult restaurant to place an order over the phone - near total lack of familiarity with their own menu combined with language barriers. Make sure you use the item number to avoid confusion/ disappointment. Wild rice fried rice is awesome - never seen something like this anywhere else

The food was amazing and the sitting arrangements were incredibly good. It is one of the best places in dunedin to arrange a get together with family and friends. One of the best chines restaurants in the town.

適合中國人的口味! Lovely meals and great service! Especially the sweet and sour sauce on tofu and the lamb buns. You can choose how spicy of the dishes. Couple of new dishes available today, love the Chinese taste.

Always a great place to take your family or friends for an authentic Chinese food experience. Only one out two places in dunedin that serves Peking duck too. The food is always good. Can get real busy during meal times. Best to book, especially if you want to order Peking duck.
