Gave this place another go with friends, must say I’m impressed. Really nicely decorated interior, friendly service and food was fresh and perfectly seasoned/flavoured. I had the Lunch Set (w/Chicken), mates liked their ramen/Lunch set Bento Box.
Excellent ramen with good portion and amazing taste, fair price as well. Staffs are friendly and the atmosphere is really comfortable and spacious. One of the few shops that still open for business at 3pm in the afternoon 🤣 most of the shops close for rest and doesn’t reopen until 5pm.
This was amazing and i would recommend to anyone in town to try it. That chicken broth was so thick and rich in flavour with the ramen. The staff were friendly and service was very good.
The creamy noodle soup is delicious. Home Kombucha is excellent as well
You can explore origami and green tea corner while waiting/ after finishing the food as well
We mostly get pork ramens and this is our first time having the chicken variety - found them pretty good. Very tasty, flavourful, clean ramen. I like that they don't use the funky-type ramen noodles.
The spicy ramen is too gently-spiced and needs to be level-up. The takoyaki serving is too small for the price. Mochi ice cream was a nice finish to the meal.
The service was quick, the restaurant had a nice ambiance, and the ramen was authentically delicious. Ordered the Toyko Nouko Shoyu Chicken Soup Ramen and it satisfied our ramen cravings pretty quickly. Definitely worth a visit!
Been here more times than I can count! Amazing food, great environment and awesome service every single time. I always get the clear shoyu ramen and my partner likes to enjoy their creamy shoyu ramen 😋 Definitely a must try when in Dunedin.
Absolute must if u like Japanese food and are in town!
We came on Friday for lunch. We were given two warm hand towels on arrival. Such a nice gesture. Place filled up fairly quickly after we sat down.
I ordered umeshu (plum wine), that I wanted to try for a very long time. Very delicious - not last time I am having that one.
We had 2 bowls of ramen (clear chicken ramen and creamy chicken ramen) with extra toppings and both were prepared very fats and were super delicious.
The place is beautifully done. Currently live painting event we have enjoyed watching. Fantastic decore, music and atmosphere is just right.
Staff was very pleasant and attentive. And once at checkout you can buy a little themed souvenirs such as origami.
Enjoyed our visit veré very much.
Definitely worth it! The salmon was so fresh that it melted while we had it. Grilled unagi fish on rice was tasty and my husband finished it immediately. The mussel was interesting as it was done with spicy sauce but still got its rich flavor. The soup had good soup base but the ramen was not very chewy. Will go there again!!!
I have lived in Japan for 4 years. I have of late been to almost every restaurant in the Dunedin area of whom offers a Ramen on their menu, Takeichi has by far the most authentic flavors. Ironically, authenticity in this case does not mean you are paying more. Value and true Japanese flavour is why I go back a couple of times a month
Best ramen restaurant in New Zealand with unparalleled service and atmosphere! Me and my friends went to this restaurant a few weeks ago in search of a good ramen restaurant in Dunedin, we ordered the *rich in collagen* ramen, absolutely fabulous, it is the best ramen I had in NZ, and we are now regulars of the restaurant.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is also stunning, and price of food is not too expensive as well.
I loved this place. Surprisingly affordable given the amount of food we had. The food is very good quality. Service was quick and excellent. Decor is interesting.
Miso udon was perfect. Dry udon was also very good. The tofu salad was a bit short of dressing.
I cannot recommend it enough for reasonably priced Japanese udon.
Arigato.
A unique and cool Japanese designed restaurant. There are two artificial trees with pretty autumn leaves inside the restaurant that gives it that Japan aesthetic, feel and experience as you dine here. The ramen here is not bad, ramen noodles are cooked well and the broth is pretty tasty but the chicken and egg was slightly cold. The portion is not a lot and just enough but expensive for what you get.
Great experience overall. We liked it that much that we came back the next day on our two day trip to Dunedin.
We had ramen which we thought that was pretty good (high ramen standard people we are). Entrees were also quite nice and well presented.
Food came very quickly which was and extra point for us. The Japanese servers were pretty helpful and attentive.
Would recommend 100% if you are in Dunedin and like Japanese food. We will be back if we come back :)
I've been here more than 20 times and I'm 100% confident that this is the best ramen place in Dunedin and possibly NZ. As someone who has been to Japan, my ramen expectations is quite high and this place manage to satisfy my cravings sufficiently. Do note it's a chicken ramen place so do not expect tonkotsu although their chicken ramen is as thick as I expect it to be. One interesting discovery is thier vegetarian ramen. It's really good! I sometimes go for this instead of the chicken ramen if I feel like eating abit healthier. For both, I recommend the creamy version. Mazesoba is also really nice. Though I prefer if I can have the Mazesoba noodle in my soup ramen. Just a fan of thicker noodles!
We took our granddaughter to the sushi making class today. Best value for money and so much fun. The food at this restaurant is the best. Atmosphere great and super friendly owners and staff makes your experience special
What a find. Chic interior design with origami and maple trees inside. Comic books for you to read. Authentic Japanese chicken Ramen comes with clear or creamy soup base. The ramen bowls are super tasty and filling, we couldn't even finish a portion. Small dishes are really nice too, go really well with the ramen bowls. Chicken soup is thick and yum, the smell is heavy. Cocktails are nice and creative with a Japanese hint. Friendly and attentive staff is always a plus. Worth mentioning that their Tacowasabi is really fresh, especially compared to what we had last night at the isakaya Yuki, taco is crisp and chewy. Will definitely come again, thanks for the amazing meal.
Nice environment and good service. The Tokyo authentic soup style is a bit salty (as the name suggests it is as salty as authentic noodle soup one finds in Japan). I was among the first customers when it opened and was not impressed then. But this time I am happy with everything, especially the consistency of noodle softness (added extra noodle).
Have visited this place a couple more times now and they are added a few new things to the menu, unless it was already there lol, but everything we tried was super delish and I like that you can get a pot of green tea 🍵 The service is super friendly and kind. Place has grown on me ☺️
