This place was the beginning of my Japanese food journey.
Service: 6/10
There’s not much to say about the service.
The workers were polite and serviceable. The food was served in a decent amount of time and they were helpful whenever we called for them.
Food: 7/10
I ordered the spider roll, fish teppan udon and unagi teriyaki set.
The spider roll had a really crunchy filling and the sauce made it a little spicy.
The fish teppan was tender and the udon was very chewy.
The unagi was perfectly cooked and coated thoroughly in teriyaki sauce.
The portions of the sets were also worth its price.
Ambiance: 8/10
The whole place looks like one of the most traditional Japanese restaurants I’ve seen in Auckland.
It has an old wooden theme with Japanese posters and decorations stuck on all of the walls.
The store is a little small so it can be a little tight on the space.
This place may not be the most authentic but it’s holds sentimental value...and it’s pretty cheap.
I guess I told a lot of times already that this is one of our favourite restaurants, it is one of our usual go to places when we are lazy to cook something at home. The food is nice and the price is quite reasonable especially during lunch where the bento boxes are almost half the price. I think I am not the only one who loves them in fact it has a lot of good reviews just have a look hereor here.
Can't believe I forgot how good this place was. Fantastic service, speedy arrival delicious food, and best of all, only $11 for the chicken bento. Can't argue with a variety of delicious food.
The beef Bento and chicken bento were both fantastic, and my only constructive feedback would be including other vegetables in the salad as there was too much cabbage.
Oh, and their tea cups are magical - somehow our green tea didn't go cold even by the end of the meal!
Absolutely love this cute little Japanese restaurant. I do miss their Takapuna branch but the Wairau branch does exactly the same job.
Food is always fresh, service is fantastic and you never feel out of place. Everything is so familiar with what you expect from fast Japanese food and Japanese hospitality.
Highly recommend.

Nice little Japanese restaurant in the heart of Wairau Valley.
We came here on a Monday afternoon and the place was half packed. Service was quick and the food did not disappoint either.

This WAS our favourite japanese restaurant for more than 10 years!
5 stars everytime we went!
Then owner changed 2017, the portions got smaller, the chefs didn't greet you with the welcome yell, the waiters stopped smiling, the service got worst, the menu changed, the price went up so...we stopped going! ☹
Went 01Mar2020, Owner changed, quality & service improved!
Had the tofu teriyaki & it was so soft & was amazing! However, the sashimi wasn’t as fresh as it could have been. The tempura was really crunchy which I also recommend.
Enjoyed lunch here really good price for what you get however the girl with glasses was quiet rude. When you enter a restaurant you would be greeted with smile and food served friendly but not today.
One of my favourite Japanese places on the north shore of Auckland!!! Food is really quick to arrive, complimentary edamame, lovely service. The dinner box is a must have - salad, tempura, crumbed meat, teriyaki meat, and the best part is it comes with a butt load of sashimi included.
Love the food and ambience. They were able to accommodate us even if we didnt have a reservation.. though we were overcharge for $14.90.. we realized it when we got home. Would still eat here but will double check the bill next time..yumm food and fast serving too!
Came here for dinner quite a while ago! Lovely restaurant! We came without reservation but got seated after 5 mins! Food and service were pretty good! We came back twice after the first visit 😀
Best Japanese restaurant I have tried in Auckland. The sets are awesome and servings are quite a reasonable amount, great value for money. Friendly attentive servers as well.
Amazing. Only good things to say.
Seating and vibe is nice for lunch, little crowded at dinner. Super friendly service. Food is amazing. Everything I’ve tried I’ve liked. Gotta recommend narita bento and try a little of everything
This place is just up the road from us so thought we'd come here for a quick and easy dinner on a Sunday. We showed up without a booking pretty early in the evening and was completely surprised by how packed it was of diners (most of them were Asian so you know you're getting good bang for your buck here). We were quickly seated at the only remaining table for two left and got given menus.
We got a bottle of warm sake to share and various skewers and small plates to share instead of two mains. The sake came with some edamame so it was good we didn't order any more. The best dish was probably the Japanese pancakes, flavorful and crunchy and crispy and came out super hot and quickly. The beef sirloin and ox tongue skewers were on the average side, quite chewy and the beef was cooked very medium. Karage chicken portions were generous but on the oily side and not as crispy. We also got a roll of sushi which was definitely over ordering but luckily they do takeaway containers.
Definitely a good cheap eats place, we probably could've ordered 2-3 less dishes and been satisfied because you definitely get generous portions for the price here compared to Jap places in the city.
Service was very quick and efficient.
Best sushi place! Ordered soft shell crab sushi made to order and it was so fresh, rice was still warm and it was so delicious😍 clean and quiet atmosphere and heaps of menu choices.
Haven't been here for a long time and decided to come for lunch with my partner one day when we were over the Shore. Taste of food still remain the same quality. I like the varieties you can get in bento box. My partner got Chicken teriyaki and I ordered Unagi bento. We had the octopus balls/ takoyaki takeaway and it was lovely too.
I've been to Narita several times over the years with various family and friends and we've never been disappointed. The food is always tasty and presented beautifully along with the friendly, helpful staff. Yes, it's always busy and there are always people waiting for a table but it's obviously popular for a reason. I will be back soon...
Love this little Japanese restaurant. We enjoyed their set menu. Reasonable price and big amount. We ordered a set menu for 2 person however it is enough for a family of 4 (we have 2 children). Authentic Japanese food, good customer service.
My favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. It's always busy at lunch time. And my favorite dish is their combination for two which is a 10-course set lunch includes sashimi, beef tataki, udon, sushi and udon for just over $50!
We arrived here just after it opened and it was already packed! The space isn’t very big but it’s decorated nicely and the staff are friendly and super helpful.
The food came quickly and was delicious! We ordered the veggie bento, eel bento and squid in red bean powder. The price was really affordable ($36 for food plus 2 drinks) and we couldn’t finish our meals because the portions were really big!
We’re going back today because it was so good!
Super good value, especially for lunch, the food is really good, staff are great. Since it opened, even though it's changed owners, it has always been one of our favourite Japanese restaurants on the shore. Keep it up and we'll keep coming. Thanks!!!
Been there couple times, Really nice food and friendly staffs, i like theirs Decoration. I love theirs bento, it was yummy, will be back for some bento sometimes.
Really nicely presented food. I got the fish bento box and was pleasantly surprised by the generous size of the unagi.
The sashimi was fresh and the eel was huge. Tasty and fresh. I love bento boxes. It has everything you need in a cute box.
The ambience, the food, the service, just amazing. Very friendly staff, amazing locale, especially if you're driving, then this is the one to come to as the one in the city & Takapuna, parking can be a bit concerning.
Love the unagi sushi & the takoyaki couldn't get better, really soft on the inside and crispy outside and overall light and fluffy.
Everything they serve is way better that the many hifi top notch contemporary Japanese places. Would be a safer & wiser bet to go here than Masu or such extravagant places.
The restaurant seemed quite crowded and at times struggled to seat people. However they made up for it with the amazing food and friendly service, we ended up spending just of $80 for two people and really enjoyed the food.
One of my favourite Japanese places on the north shore. I've been here so many times and will always go back. I've found the service really good with friendly staff. The decor is unique. If you're in a bigger group you can sit inside where it's a cute Japanese style and feels like you're sitting on the floor.
Narita is well priced and is on the cheaper eats side of Japanese food (Compared to Ebisu & Masu). My favourite dish is the chicken bento box which comes sushimi, miso, rice, chicken teriyaki, chicken katsu, salad, tempura & ice cream ($23).
Will be going back and definitely recommend this place.

Yum ! Ordered Sashimi and it was so delicious. What I can say is that the prices are in the high region but it is well worth the money. We ordered the medium sized sashimi and it was everything I hoped it would be, the fish was so fresh and tasty and it had a good portion of everything (wish there was more pieces of tuna though). I also had a teriyaki salmon and it was so good but wish the salmon size was a bit more "meatier" the teriyaki sauce was good but would liked it if it wasn't too much sauce on my salmon the taste got a bit too much for me after a while but was still tasty, my son got a ramen and gyoza and the ramen was about a 2 for me. The noodles was quite soggy and the broth was a bit salty and it tasted like it just came out of the packaging. The gyoza was gross we didn't end up eating it all because I knew it came from a packaged pack. I make dumplings and I know what store and ore packages dumplings taste like. I had a beer and that was so nice having with my meal. Service was good they cleared the table got the order fast it didn't take them too long to send out our food. Over all it was a good experience.
Narita has been one of my favourite Japanese food spots on the Shore for several years now. I think in recent years there’s been a change in management (service is less friendly nowadays) but the flavours are largely the same. They have lots on their menu, and you can get dinner for 4 people for less than $90 – so it’s pretty good value too.
For starters, if you want more than the free edamame beans try one of their interesting sushi options or a small sashimi + sushi platter.
On my last visit, I tried their seafood tempura (deep fried battered prawn, squid ring, mussel, two types of fish, and surimi). Felt that the presentation was lacking and that the panko batter was not as light as I'm used to. However, it still tasted good.
My go-to main is the Fish Teriyaki Set, although I do find the sauce is overly sweet at times.
While I suspect its heyday is over, Narita Glenfield is still a reliable establishment for Japanese cuisine for casual dining on the North Shore.
Great shop - good memories - yummy food
Japanese food is always on the pricier side. But when you're in wairau this is the only one around that's not oily like other Asian food and you feel healthy after you finish eating.
The taste is very standard, nothing too surprising. But does not disappoint.

Narita is our favourite Japanese restaurant. We've been coming here for years and we've never left disappointed. The sashimi is always super fresh, and the meals are out to you in record time. Friendly service, reasonable pricing and great bustling energy.
This is my favourite restaurant in the whole of Auckland. Not only are the staff polite, friendly and helpful; the food tasty and the atmosphere pleasant, but it is like this every time we visit. They continue to amaze us with their consistent high standards of customer service and food. Waiting times can vary based on how busy they are, but they do an excellent job of ensuring that all of the food is delivered to the table at the same time, regardless of how many people are dining with us. Their attention to detail when it comes to taste is so incredible, that even their salad which accompanies the teriyaki chicken set is tasty! I can't ever go in without ordering a plate of takoyaki, which has to be ranked among the best that Auckland has to offer. I was a little disappointed when they made the switch from the larger Chinese-style plastic chopsticks to the more traditional Japanese-style bamboo chopsticks, but we discovered that the older ones are still available on request. The price can be more on the more expensive side (usually around $70 for 2 of us, including drinks), but it always well worth it. You know your dining experience can't go wrong when every guest is warmly greeted by the staff upon entering the restaurant and they will continue to be my restaurant of choice for birthdays and special occasions.
The food comes cheap and at a high quality. Great hygiene, taste and all. Only downside is that the tables are too tightly packed resulting in a lack of privacy
My favourite sushi restaurant by far. It is so traditional and so warm inside. It's got great sushi and other foods. Service is okay. Drink selection is okay. I would recommend this place if you are a fan of Japanese/ Asian styled food.
They offer great bento set for lunch, our favourites being the fish bento and salmon bento. Their gyoza and tempura are great too. Really affordable and worth the money. We never really go there for dinner though because the difference in price is quite significant.
We eat here nearly every week for lunch and they always serve fresh food that consistently taste good. Fish bento and yakisoba are our absolute favourites every single time. The bentos are literally a complete meal in itself served with miso soup, salad, sides and a small fruit dessert. The yakisoba is the best we've ever tasted - plenty of chicken and very flavourful. Great value for money for lunch! Dinner prices are a bit dear.
My girlfriend and I came back to Narita after a long time and we weren't disappointed! The staff are friendly and welcoming; the food tasty and delicious. We ordered Edamame, squid, teriyaki chicken, and miso soup. The Edamame serving was generous, the teriyaki sauce delicious, and the miso soup was impressive. We'd definitely come back again, and I would recommend Narita to friends, family, and followers.
Very popular restaurant with a great vibe to it, looks like a classic izakaya in tokyo! Food is nice with all the classic japanese dishes and a few specials from the house. Good variety of sakes 🗻

This japanese restaurant been here for quite a long time and still standing strong. Popular with the locals and would recommend making reservations. Narita offers a range of delicious Japanese food. Sashimi is fresh and succulent, teriyaki dishes are on point in terms of taste and their deep fry dishes are crispy and crunchy. The people are friendly too. Price is a bit on the high side but worth it. We usually get the set menu which means you get a bit of everything.
Yet to have a bad experience at Narita and I've been 10+ times over the years. The restaurant itself has an awesome vibe and the decor is cool, also the staff are so friendly. I've had better Japanese food before but it's still damn good, and you can't go wrong with the amazing Japanese beer on tap :)
Environment good for family and friends. Me and my wife always think of Narita when think of japanese bento. The price over here not exceeding 50 dollar for me and my wife and also 2 kids. Enjoy it!
A great Japanese establishment! If you like a Japanese restaurant with a casual setting, good size dishes and efficient service then this is the place. I have become a regular since 2010 and the quality has been consistent. A reasonably large selection of dishes from sushi, sashimi to various set menus. The price is very reasonable too. If you plan a party, make sure to book one of the tables in their private room.
A regular to this place the food is great altho at times the consistency of the food hasn't been spot on but it's still great. Quite small and often full but if you're happy to wait the food will be great. Always a favourite spot.
First thing to note is that its always good to make reservations for Narita as the place is always very busy whenever we visit, 3/4 times we'll need to wait before we get seated.
As with many Japanese restaurants, you're greeted with a hearty IRASSHAI when you enter, always nice to hear and adds to the authenticity and flavour of the restaurant. Interior is distinctly Japanese, wood, flags, and empty sake bottle decorations makes me feel like I'm at an Okinawan bar.
Service is very friendly, and the included buzzers on the tables means your order is taken very quickly whenever you are ready.
The food comes out fast too, and consists of the usual golden Japanese standard cuisine. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu, all the ingredients are fresh and the food has flavour and character; authentic Japanese.
However I would avoid noodle-based dishes here, the udon has no side dishes or ingredients other than noodles and soup, and the ramen dishes have very little toppings which is very unfortunate. It is rare to have a ramen dish where you only get ONE slice of meat, but perhaps I have been spoilt by other similar restaurants.
Other than this, I would highly recommend a visit here as it is a lovely restaurant.
Great place with excellent decor! Was very cute and snug with warm staff and a beautiful aroma of smells that greeted you at the door.
There was something for everyone on the menu. All of my group were left groaning the food was so good that they just couldn't eat it all!
Flavour were amazing and 100% I'd recommend this place!
We ordered Sashimi Bento today. That was very good!!! The sushi is rich and great, salmon and snapper sashimi is very fresh. The only thing I will say may be it is too far from my home haha! Overall it is a very good restaurant, will definitely go there second time, 5 stars!
Small place yet packed with japanese food and culture. A bit pricey with their food but it delivers the japanese taste anyway. Good service and friendly staff to assist you.
Nice, simple Japanese bento boxes that makes your everyday lunch just a little bit more exciting with its neat presentation and great variety. Really enjoy Narita, favourite one used to be the one in Takapuna, but this place is pretty consistent. :)
Narita Japanese is a nice place to dine if you're in Wairau - but I wouldn't really go out of the way to come here. Some of the smaller dishes are overpriced. The mains are reasonable. I'm quite picky when it comes to Japanese food because I like an authentic dining experience. The restaurant has a very home-y feel and there is even an area where you can kneel on the floor to eat (like most places in Japan!) The bento boxes here are my favourite thing off the menu.

This used to be a Japanese restaurant I frequent because I lived in the area. However, I think the food now is overpriced for the serving size and I have found better and cheaper restaurants than this.
The staff here is always so nice and welcoming though. They all greet you when you go in. One time, we finished quickly and paid straight away and they thanked us so much because it was such a busy time and people were waiting. They gave us Japanese treats when we paid.
The downside of this place is the size. It is so small and you feel cramped when you're eating. However, I like the food because Japanese is my favourite. Their bento boxes are great.
I recommend going for lunch because the prices are better but dinner is more expensive and usually crazy busy.
Visited Narita today for lunch. I always see this place packed with families and couples, so I figured it was about time I give this place a shot.
Food: I ordered the Salmon Lunch Bento set ($14.90). It came with an average sized piece of teriyaki salmon, 1 sushi roll, edamame, mushroom salad, fruits, and tempura. The salmon was on the small side, but still delicious. The tempura was done well, and I liked the added touch of the edamame beans. However, I found this bento very average at best. It was simple and standard, but nothing really stood out.
Service: The service staff were very proactive and they were quick to offer green tea refills (hot green tea is free!).
Overall, this place is average, and good for those who are craving some Japanese food in the Wairau area. Nothing too great, but nothing bad either.
Grab one deal. Enjoyed everything we ordered. Love the vibe, friendly customer service, felt comfortable. The wait wasn't long either. Definitely want to go back & try more of the menu
Today I went for dinner with my family, though it was first time at this restaurant but I really enjoyed it. My daughter loved their Sushi . Will definitely visit again.
Very affordable at lunch time although it becomes really busy especially on the weekend. Staff are ALWAYS welcoming and helpful! The place is always clean too. We have always ordered the same food so we never really had a problem at this place. Their bento boxes are really filling and quite cheap. They also have the best chicken teriyaki (preferably the Teriyaki Set as the one on the sizzling plate tastes different), the chicken is cooked well and the sauce is amazing. Their sushi is a must-try as it is definitely an authentic Japanese sushi and it is always freshly made. Also in love with their flavourful miso soup. Don't recommend going for dinner as the price is doubled.
A busy yet friendly staff, decent food and the fact that its the only Japanese restaurant in the area (that I know of) makes it an attractive go to for that kind of food. Link Drive has just too many restaurant while only a very few worth talking about. This is one of them. There is plenty of parking spaces available and the décor inside is a mix of contemporary and traditional. The food tastes really fresh and carefully made. Definitely recommend at least once.
me and my partner ordered the pork appetizer and narita okonomi..the pork melts in your mouth and the salad we got with it was amazing i think it da a peanut dressing and we both loved it .the okonomi was good too..the beef was a little overcooked and hence chewy but everything else was amazing .the okonomi da a chicken and beef sizzler , two deep fried crumbed chicken rolls , teriyaki hamburger patty with rice, salmon sushi , salad and miso soup plus we got a little bowl vanilla ice cream with sprinkles and syrup .. all off this in $35 was well worth it ..all in all a good meal.
The decor of the restaurant was really well done, it had a welcoming, homely atmosphere. The food was excellent and the portions were decent sized; enough to fill you up, and enough to enjoy the taste of the food without overwhelming the palate. Would definitely recommend and come back again!
Very crowded at 1.30pm on a Sunday. I had a sashimi donburi that came with a side of pickles and miso soup.
The chili sauce was quite hot so if u can take the hotness don't order it, otherwise you need quite a lot of water. The dish itself had quite a lot of salad and sashimi for a reasonable price. Would come here again.
Had an enjoyable experience at Narita on Saturday night. Depsite it being very busy we were served quickly. Their nigiri sushi is very nice, likewise the Yakisoba. Ika tempura is also a fav of mine and this was good but not amazing, the best ive had being Ta-Ke in Highbury. Overall dinner was of a very high standard and their on-tap Sapporro beer is recommended. The only issue i have is with the price, $130 approx for a nice dinner for 2 people is a bit high in my books...
Food and service here very good. The staff there are very friendly. Been here a few times now. A friend recommended this place to me.
The sushi is very nice there. Flavours are good. Ordered the "lobster roll on fire" -was so cool and the "Eskimo roll" was very flavoursome. And I normally go for the "udon & sushi" set menu option. I love udon and sushi so why not? It's great. I love it. The Japanese green tea is good too.
After having read so much about Narita, we finally had the chance to sit down and enjoy a yummy lunch.
It wasn't too busy when we visited. We were greeted and seated with menus in less than a minute which was a good start. No one though took the time to explain any lunch time special before we went through a very extensive Japanese menu.
We both had ramen as our mains and were both happily content. The Shoyu Ramen was nice and tasty, not too salty. The ramen was cooked well and wasn't soggy at all. My wife had the Tonkatsu Ramen and like mine, it was tasty and not salty.
For under $10, it was a reasonable feed.
And for an additional $5, we had perfectly cooked gyoza. Yummy!
Still have to come back to try the other treats on the menu!

Based on solely the ramen- hubby and i were about to go to the restaurant next door for Lunch when we saw Narita was open. We had been hankering for some soup due to the past days' weather and even though the sun had finally come out our ramen itch needed to be scratched. He had the Shoyu and i had the Tonkatsu Ramen. I ended up eating both. The Shoyu ramen was beautifully flavoured. Not too salty, with just a hint of dashi to round out the taste. Tonkatsu was very tasty and i enjoyed the one slice of pork enough to wish they had been more (ahem ahem if your reading this). Pretty good value for money. We also had a 5 piece Gyoza plate discoubted when ordered with the ramen, which the mr. And i both agreed would pass our youngest's dumpling criteria ( the boy is a dumpling fiend! ) If you want a quick ramen fix in Wairau this is the place.
They do have more on the menu. ..but that's for next time!
I really like the interior of the restaurant, their language and the very real, authentic Japanese dishes. The gyu tataki still just a tad frozen sometimes (like really cold?) overall though amazing
Great food and a busy atmosphere. Huge menu with so many good options. The food comes out fairly quickly and has never disappointed. Not the finest Japanese dining experience, just good solid food in a bustling little restaurant. Good selection of beers and sake also.
This is my favourite Japanese restaurant in the Wairau area. They have an extensive menu and very affordable lunch options.
The food is always made perfectly with beautiful presentation. Service is super friendly and food comes out really quickly, even during the lunch time rush hour.
I would recommend the lunch box set menu options, or the sushi rolls! Super tasty!
We love this place, run like a well oiled machine. If anyone wants to see how a restaurant should be run needs to come here, super efficient. All the staff are very friendly and attentive and polite. Excellent value for money. Steer clear of the the super cheap lunch boxes and the expensive set menus, there is plenty of choice, fabulous sashmi dishes and the usual favourites. This will always be our first choice for Japanese dining, I just can't fault it.
The place is always busy which only indicates good food. The servers, the chef, the bartenders are all friendly and take their time to greet us. The food is yumm and good values for money. Have tried most in their menu. Also tried the sake. Good range of sakes available.
We've been going here for years and love it, our favourite japanese by far, great food and great service. The sashimi bento is superb. Do yourself a favour and try it.
Fresh, amazing food. Extensive selection on the menu. Very friendly staff. The decor is lovely, very authentic and best of all it's great value for money. Must try their Bento boxes! Great place to take someone who hasn't tried japanese food before.
Overall, I really liked this restaurant:
- The food was delicious, fresh and definitely Japanese
- The price was appropriate
- The staff were very friendly and welcoming
- It was quite full though, so I if you are planning to eat there for dinner I recommend you make a reservation if you don't want to wait.
I'll definitely be going back!
I ate here the other day with my fiancée, and we had such a great lunch! It was quick and easy to get your order in, and they had the food out in no time. The fish was top notch quality, and the rolls were inventive and tasty. Give it a try!
We dined here before catching a film last week and was pleasantly surprised how fresh and delicious it was. I ordered the teriyaki vegetarian platter and it was huge and very yum with a variety of salad, rice and tofu. My partner was very happy with his tuna dish and the service was friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back
This is my family's favourite restaurant, reasonable price, and fresh fish. This place always full but worth to wait. They give away a free sweet after the meal but do not take a full hand because you will see their manager’s big eye!!!
We travel 20KM+ from Auckland Central area to dine at this place sometimes.
The quality to price is just unbeatable!
It literally brings shame to so many other so called 'Japanese restaurant' in town in our opinion!
This is probably one of the Japanese restaurant I have ever been too ! The service is always exceptional and the food is always amazing! Me and my partner always try and find an excuse to go there from birthdays to anniversary dinners!
I recommend it to anyone who is looking for Japanese food at a great price!
I love this place, My partner and I first went here in 2009 and have been going ever since, we like to go on our anniversaries but will easily make exceptions to go at least three or four times throughout the year.
Service is always amazing, food tastes incredible and well the atmosphere is all apart of the experience.
This place is so addictive that my partner and I need a lot of self control to stop us from returning daily or even monthly, we even go to the extent of driving away from the place to particular destinations just to stop the temptation of going in.
Love this place and will always return- signed Forever Happy Customer.
Ate at Narita for the first time and loved it. The food was beautiful very tasty and lots of it. Service was great even though they were really busy. The restaurant was full and we ended up in the private room and shared a table with another couple which was fine. We will most certainly return.
Great place if you are looking for atmosphere any night of the week including Monday's.
We found the service to be very good and our food arrived quickly. From the menu we ordered a wide range of dishes and none disappointed.
Will head back when in the area.
Relatively new to Japanese food apart from the obligatory hand rolls. Ordered the Salmon Don (teriyaki on rice) and the Vegetable Bento - everything was absolutely delicious and served impressively fast considering it was quite busy. Definitely recommend and will be back soon!
I have been going here for a number of years both wairau and takapuna, we often take our 19mth old and 3yr with us now, they love the sushi and karage chicken(however this has now got a bone so can give to younger child pref the no bone option) Dinner is always lovely and service is fantastic always make us feel very welcome, so forget the comments about not being a wonderful place to dine as I have never had any problems as all.
Authentic Japanese food!
5 stars for Narita!
I have been to Narita Wairau many times and everytime it is fantastic. Great food, excellent prices and service really friendly, have and will recommend to all.
Best Japanese restaurant i have EVER been to. Staff are so friendly and very helpful to. They were very accomodating with my 5 day old baby putting seats together for my babys capsule to go on. Now I have made this review its making me hungry so will book me a table for tonight
I have been to Narita many times over the past 4 years. Everytime the food is consistently top knotch, hot, fresh and the service is second to none. I love those little beans (?) and hot towels they offer when you first sit down. Definitely a nice touch. Narita is by far the BEST Japanese restaurant in the country and I say that with confidence having been to many. Well done Narita!
Went to this restaurant today for staff lunch - i am now converted to Japanese food. The service was faultless the food was perfect - will be going back again and again!!!
The best japanese restaurant in the whole world. wouldnt go any where else
IGNORE sAMS review - this place rocks and the bento boxes are amazing!

This is my favourite restaurant in the world ! The staff are very friendly and efficient and the food beats anything I've had anywhere hands down. It's tasty, colourful, healthy and beautifully presented and is cooked perfect every time.
The best Japanese place i have been to.
Beautiful chicken dinner boxes and tempura, couldnt even finish all of mine. Really nice Miso.
Not a top choice for Japanese food, but good enough for north shore people to dine in, large selection of bento, dinner time are always busy.
Food was delish. We ordered and the starter arrived in what felt like 2 mins at most and main shortly after.
We were looking for a Japanese restaurant in Albany and tried Narita, such a great restaurant with great, traditional Japanese food and really great service. Highly recommend them and will come back again. 😊
Took my partner out for birthday dinner, loved everything about it. Food was very well prepared and served, lovely staff, beautiful meal. I will be back for sure :)
Wonderful service and great food. Thoroughly enjoyed. So yummy.
First time visiting for lunch (not busy, workday, 3 people), enjoyed the atmosphere, service & food. Fairly reasonable prices & enjoyed the Narita sigtanure Bento - fish, chicken & beef. The fish was the surprise winner. Also enjoyed Karaage & Squid.
Second visit for dinner (not busy, weeknight, 2 people), Fish Bento wasn't as good but bento box still good value & tasty overall. Had a yummy chicken set, which was very tasty (arrived in a hot cast iron dish), and would have again. The white fish sashimi "side" wasn't super tasty, but ok with soy & wasabi. Definitely enjoyed the salmon more 🍣 Miso was a little plain & not very hot, so it went cold quickly. Could have done with some spring onions in it to be a little tastier. Icecream scoop came w one set we ordered (which was a surprise) - it was a cutely presented restrained portion 🍨 - not that much was needed, as we were full!
Honestly it's excellent at the price range. Have types of food for my $28.9 fish Benton. It was a surprise it even contains dessert.
A nice place for a casual meet or family dinner
I feel like in a tokyo.
Food and sake was great for me and service also pretty good.
I was shocked cause of fresh sashimi 🥳🥳
The overall experience we had during dinner time is wonderful and amazing!
Place was clean, and the food was PERFECT! SO FRESH AND ORIGINAL JAPANESE TASTE!
We will definitely come and eat there next time!
There were many guests, but I ate delicious food with a nice interior in a quiet atmosphere.
Busy little place,it has limited tables available and takeaways are also an option. Sushi. Katsubi and other Japanese styled foods are available. Service is quick and efficient. There is a 2%surcharge for paying by credit card. Parking in the complex is limited so you may have to park across the road and walk over during peak times. Beer and wine is available also as well as soft drinks and tea.
Hadn’t been to Narita for quite awhile. Think they may have new owners, the food was awesome. Service was quick and the food arrived pretty rapidly. Can recommend the spicy seafood ramen! Will definitely be back.
we often come to this restaurant for business lunches and always leave 100% satisfied, Narita restaurant is a hidden gem.
Superb food!
It's been a while since I've had good food like that. Thank you very much!! 🥰😎
We were just walking around with my husband, when saw this restaurant. So we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere here is very unusual and cozy. You feel like you really sitting in the traditional restaurant in Japan. The food was very tasty, both mine and my husband's order! And in addition to this there was really friendly and nice staff. Love this place so much!
I ordered a set menu, which came with plenty of food and prompt, courteous service.
