Came through here recently while in the area. Parallel parking available outside. Friendly service. Standard takeaway fare. Really enjoyed my fish and chip lunch combo for dinner. Especially the lemon inside the pack. Fish was really tasted. Would definitely come through here again if in the area.
Ive been a customer for 5 or more years this place has never let me down for a real decent feed and great service. Fast friendly and yummy, you cant ask for more than that.

The Chip Basket in Glenfield is a gem I have only recently discovered but I am so glad I did! They're open by lunch time and have a wonderful range of burgers with great taste and fresh salads, fresh seafood and of course perfectly made fish and chips!
Today was exceptionally great though... I ordered a cheese burger which inside two fresh toasted bun lay a thick slice of cheese, tasty and moist beef patty, fresh lettuce, tomato, beetroot and onion and to top it off a beautiful tomato sauce!
Never have I had a burger this great from a fish and chip shop. Reasonably priced at $6.50 and I also ordered 400g wedges for $4.60 which as well were tasty and crispy I believe 100% worth the money.

Finally ordered from The Chip Basket, so very glad I did. Clean, fresh, good quality food. While more expensive than other shops, I think they're well worth it. Fresh lettuce on the fish burger, well cooked chips and great fish. $32 for 2 hot dogs, 2 sea dogs, 2 pieces of Hoki, mussel fritter and $4 chips
1 terakihi, sausage, hotdog, scoop of chips - $12. Friendly fast service. Clean non greasy and tasty. Above average f+c. Likely to go again. Recommended.
I'm pretty darn impressed :) I wouldn't normally have fish n chips in Auckland with the fear of it tasting bad. I was stoked to find somewhere that's close to home and knows how to serve up fish n chips (and scallops, mussels and squid rings :P) It wasn't saturated in oil, they had three types of fish on offer (hoki, tarakihi and snapper) and you can get the fish crumbed if you want. I thought it was going to be expensive after reading some other reviews but it wasn't. $3.50 for a good size piece of fish is the norm and if you want snapper for $6.50 then that's still reasonable. The sliced lemons included were a great touch too. Good stuff!
Outstanding. Their burgers are amazing, I love watching them make it.. it's like watching an artist at work!! Umm also handy location and prompt and polite service, really can't ask for more than that. Good to see some people still have pride in what they do. :)
Love this place, for their refreshing food, not drowning in oil. They have crumbed fish to die for. The crumb itself is so tasty. The food is always great quality and tasty. The service is lovely this family business has a great atmosphere. The staff are patient, calm and helpful no matter how busy they get. Parking is available out front, or at the back of the building or on Chivalry Rd side. Can be busy at times but always seem to get a spot somewhere. Pays to get a copy of the Menu and order by phone and then go to collect your meal.
Service is good. I've only tried the fish & chips and went hear after hearing about it from one of my friends. Nice fish, but very expensive i.e. I was only prepared to pay for one fish, if I wanted two, I would have gone to a restaurant as the cost would be the same. I'm fussy when it comes to good ole fish & chips, cant't stand it when I have a coating of fat in my mouth after eating but this place did hit the nail on the head and no fat residue left in my mouth. Not sure I'd go back because of the price and I've found a beaut of a F&C shop in another area of the shore that sells very tasty fish & chips.
Love this place! Decent menu, good food and brilliant service! The family that runs The Chip Basket are super friendly, remember my name and always get the order right. The fellow that makes the burgers takes his job very seriously and comes up with tasty and fresh burgers every time.
The people here are awesome to deal with I had a LARGE order (over 30 pieces of fish) for my work last min & came here, Not only did they have everything cooked perfectly & on time they even used fresh fish from the markets! I know we will be coming back :)

I used to live a couple of houses down the road from this fish and chip shop and me and my flatties would always be keen for fish and chips from the chip basket! The chips are lovely (just enough crunch and just enough softness) and the burgers are just as good as burger fuel - if not better (they're priced pretty similar though). The fish is yummy too! And you can get CHEEZY WEEZYS!!!! If you don't know what that is - chips coated with cheese, mayo and tomato sauce! A must try if you're not worried about your waste line 😜

I'm not sure why this has such a low review but they have the best burgers and chips in Glenfield! Such awesome service too, they even remember special orders like no onion. They treat the food with love when they cook and use high quality ingredients - you won't find better around. Probably a little more pricey but well worth it!
Beetroot in the burgers - Hazzah! Real kiwi burger, thick yummy meat patties, loads of lettuce, best burger I've had in a long time 🙂. Bit pricier than most but worth every cent, crisp chips, juicy fish, lovely service.

Fresh fish, crispy chips, they all cooked perfect and not greasy, very delicious but a bit less seasoned for my taste, it would have been better with little bit of sauce.
Always buy chips here even though there are three closer chip shops near our house. Very fast service, good quality and fresh potatoes; fresh fish; good portion. When I buy kumara chips the shop owner went above to explain the fact behind it and why she cant make it crispy.
This is our local and they are always good quality fish and chips we do also get the burgers some times too. The service is always fast and friendly.
Just finished our first fish (snapper) and chips from this shop. Very good value and tasted great. Will return!
From England we aren't able to buy snapper and chips so it was a great treat to enjoy again.

I went here because the place had a 4.4 rating. I just ordered chips and sausages. they were first class. Not oily abs cooked with clean oil by the looks of things. So very happy and would go again

Abit more costlier than your average fish & chip shop, but definitely worth every cent. Ideal for two (mostly while the children are at school) mouth watering menu. Fresh produce, cooked and prepared by friendly staff.

Wow outstanding. My fish and potato fritters were perfectly cooked with a crispy batter and not overcooked. Surprisingly they weren't greasy which was awesome. My colleagues ordered burgers and were impressed with how fresh they were and we all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The chips and kumara fries were good to apparently. I did not have any and too full to try.
Best fish n chips I've had in a long time!! Definitely the most delicious I've had in Auckland :) thanks for fixing my craving

I like their chips. Not drenched in oil. Great taste and not soggy like some other fast food joints. I have not tried any of their other menu items, but I can definitely recommend their potato chips.
