What a cute little cafe! Located close to the river and park with gorgeous outdoor seating. The sheepskins on the seats made it very cosy. The girl serving was very sweet and patient as she was the only person working and it got quite busy when we arrived. Great outlook and view.

The Trading Post was one of my favourite dining experiences in New Zealand. It is in a picture perfect location near Lake Wakatipu and the Humboldt Mountains. Once you step inside, you'll feel immediately welcomed with the cosy decor and the welcoming hospitality of the stuff. We tried their oat biscuit, banana bread and the carrot cake, however my favourites were the latter two as they were both lightly sweetened with warming spices. Best of all they had such a soft and melt in your mouth texture! The coffee was also a delight and some of the strongest we had on our trip. If we ever come back to the area we will definitely return here.

Love their tuna melt, banana loaf, and hot choco on a cold and rainy day. Cool place. A must go to.

Cute family owned cafe. Quite expensive but not a lot of other options around.

Missus recommended this amazing cafe and we had the most amazing carrot cake which is quite different from any other carrot cake we ever had...well baked to the perfectness must admit. We tried the savoury muffin too and my goodness am really intrigued with it because that is something very new to me as it is a warm muffin and even though it looks simple but adding with the yogurt, it blew my mind away ! Simple muffin but yet impressive. The ambience is cosy and comfortable. Besides dessert and coffee, it is actually like a minimart when u can grab souvenirs of the places, reference books for guideline, from homemade marmalade to soaps... It is actually a marvellous place to explore. The hospitality is indeed friendly and nice. Scenery is amazing and we totally fell in love with the place! Would defo be coming back in the future !

Tried an espresso and a piece of their ginger slice. Coffee was great as was the slice. Itā€™s a tiny place but plenty of places to tables and seating out in the sun. Friendly, welcoming staff. A nice spot for a bite with a backdrop to the mountains.

After the Glenorchy walk i have come here for breakfast and made a friend along too. I loved Glenorchy the minute i drove in and walked along the lake. What a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere. The cafe had such a homey feel to it. It just had "Welcome Home" all over.

Originally didnā€™t plan to visit but as the Glenorchy Cafe was closed on Wednesdays we popped in here for brunch and I absolutely loved it, 100%. Bookworms will adore the book display here. Itā€™s very homely, warm and inviting. The staff were very friendly too and this place doubles as an information centre for visitors. Amazing! I had the banana cake and hot chocolate. The banana cake was baked with desiccated coconut and served with your choice of cream or yogurt (I got yogurt). It was served warm and I loved the coconut taste, just thought it could be more banana-y. Hot chocolate was great and they give a little chocolate cube with it. My friend got the chai latte which also came with the chocolate cube. Yum! The vibe was relaxing, quaint, with clean outdoor seating and even an ice cream cart outside. Itā€™s a 2 min walk to the lakeside with plenty of parking available around. I would come back again!

What a great find on our trip to Glenorchy. The decor is comfy yet trendy, full of books to leaf through and sheepskins on benches to keep you warm, coffeeā€™s great, and we loved the house made desserts including the carrot cake that we took to the waterfront to enjoy after our jet boat adventure!

We have been to this cafe around 2 years ago and it was really amazing and still the quality of service was not changed. I strongly recommend this hidden gem, it won't let you down. Please try cappucino or mocha with a brownie and chocolate chip cookie. Definitely it is worth to visit. Great service, we will come back again.

Excellent stop to make in Glenorchy! The service was outstanding. The food was great. Perfect, fresh cake! Amazing coffee! And comfortable, quiet atmosphere. All while taking in the breathtaking views that Glenorchy has to offer. They were also accommodating to dietary restrictions.

A really great little cafe with plenty of outdoor seating. You can also buy small gifts and pieces of art here. We had the carrot cake and a smoothie and they were both delicious and came out really quickly. You can get scoops of icecream from a little booth outside of the cafe. It's a two minute walk to the water and there are plenty of trees around to sit under.
