Delicious food. I drive from a few suburbs away to go here, the food is just that much better. The spicy noodles, sweet & sour pork and criss cut fries are particular favourites.
This place is a regular spot for my family and I. With yummy food and great staff I really recommend it. 10/10 my dudes. Keep on being radical.

Just sampled the Chinese Takeaways menu with about 7 different dishes for our family, and it was very good. Best dishes were s & s pork, egg fu, and beef satay.

This is by far one of the best fish and chips around. Absolutley brilliant that they do gluten free options. I loved that the food is not dripping in oil or covered in salt. The flavour of the fish was superb and the portion sizing was perfect. And to boot the owners were extremely friendly and very welcoming. Will definitely use this as my go to from now on
The new owners have revamped the menu and I am stoked! Had the standard fish burger and hot chips. Everything was fresh, tasted amazing and great portion size. Will be back!
My family and I regularly go here for our quality fish and chips. They're always well cooked and the customer service is good too. Fish has always been fresh. Also like that there is a range of types of chips that you can choose from.
Lovely clean and tidy establishment, staff are friendly and polite. The fish is always spot on, have had the home cut fries but prefer the straight chips. Burgers are nice and tasty (we tried the churton whopper). It is a bit pricey for fish and chips but the quality is always consistent. They were 1 fish short on our order once and we called and let them know, the next time we were in they gave us a extra 2 pieces of fish to make up for it which we thought was nice.

Always keen to try new places, I saw some good reviews for Takeaway Churton - so we gave it a go.
I did notice that most reviews were from people who have only posted one or two reviews on Zomato, so I stayed open minded about the 5 star ratings it had been awarded.
My partner has a thing for (good) chip shop burgers so we decided to give it a go in the hope we'd find one.
First up, it's a very clean and fresh establishment. The people serving were very friendly and accommodating.
We ordered:
Straight chips ($3.50)
Beef and Cheese burger ($9.80)
Cheesy Chicken Burger ($9.80)
We were told 10 minutes and it was ready in 10 minutes.
The home cut chips were quite chunky so we chose the pre-cut chips - they were good. The portion wasn't huge compared to other chip shops, but it was still a good sized portion, especially to prevent over eating.
Both burgers came with salad and relish. They came in brioche buns which were soft and light.
Cheesy Chicken burger:
Crumbed chicken filet with apricot relish. The chicken had a slightly odd texture but could put my finger on it. It was nice to try something different, it had good flavour, but I probably wouldn't order it again - this is purely preference only, nothing specific with the burger.
Beef and Cheese burger:
I had the red onion grilled. The patty is home-made, it was very tasty and juicy. The tomato relish complimented it nicely. A good burger. This was the highlight of the meal for me.
I can't say the burgers lived up to the hype, but they were tasty and fresh and we did enjoy them. We weren't blown away though.
I'd like to try some of their other options on my next visit.

From the moment you walk in you are greeted with an amazing atmosphere. This family run shop is great, the food is always delicious with reasonable wait times. Unlike most you will notice the shop is clean tidy and well kept. The gourmet burgers are a must try (my fav), worth a visit!
I am an English woman currently living in Australia, with access to endless fish and chips restaurants. Unfortunately the quality of most of these are very poor. I find myself looking forward to my trips to New Zealand when I can indulge in great fish and chips from Takeaway Churton.
My family and I LOVE Takeaway Churton. The variety on offer is brilliant. My favourite has to be their calamari which simply melts in your mouth.
Their chips has to also get a mention, how they get it so fluffy inside, yet so crispy on the outside, is beyond me. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
We always recommend Takeaway Churton to friends going to wellington.

You can't give this place less than 5 stars, I mean even the saddest alien from planet sour, on a bad day with the sky raining lumps of damp squib, could not go below 4 stars. There is nowhere in the region that compares. Try it.
I always like to rate a FishnChip shop by their burgers, they were absolutely spot on, fresh and with tons of flavour.
The fish and chips were just right and cooked beautifully and my kids devoured them in no time at all.
Well done you guys, I always make the effort to come down when I am working late in Johnsonville and I would rate this the best chippy in Wellington.
Fantastic fish & chips ! Last week I had some of the best fish I have tasted (Dory). The chips are always consistent and tasty. I would also recommend the burgers. The staff are always friendly and smiling. I don't mind waiting 20 - 25 minutes, especially on a Friday when it is so busy. As Eric G has mentioned I think the Churton Park locals need to get vocal and show their support. Well done Takeaway @ Churton.
We are Churton Park locals and can say that the whole family loves the food at Churton Park takeaways. Great gourmet burgers, and fresh fish and chips. The place has been fantastic since it opened and is loved by all the Churton Park locals.
I would never normally consider writing a review, but feel that we in the community need to show some strong positive support to our awesome local takeaway shop.
Fantastic, really friendly staff, amazing food. Their burgers are simply amazing. Would have to recommend the "Churton Whopper" as a personal fave. One of the few chip shops around that uses actual Squid in their calamari rings, not the processed mass produced "squid rings" but actual rings of squid coated in golden batter and cooked to absolute perfection. They may take longer than some but it's well worth the wait! Keep up the good work.

Fish and chips quality is amazing.I just wish they offered more options on the fish. Chinese food is very good, probably over generous in portion size when compared elsewhere. But, there is always a but, they don't offer much in the way of different. I would love to see dishes like General Tsao's chicken or Kung Pow chicken. Some more traditional Chinese/American dishes would be great to make them less like every other Chinese takeaway. That said, you can't beat then for fish and chips. Their Wonton Soup is the best.
Had chicken burgers, fish and chips last week... Chicken burger was really good and pretty happy with the generous serving of chicken in the burger. Bun was fresh. Fish and chips are also good.. fresh and nice...

I would go as far as saying that the Chinese food here is the best I’ve ever had. Try the orange beef!! Yummy
First time going here, and we are now HOOKED !! My husband said it was the best battered fish he’s ever had. We got some extra mussels which I was delighted with. The service is AMAZING, you felt welcome from the moment you walked in & the service is also very efficient & hassle free. We are looking forward to our next order :-)

The fish n chips are not quite as good as they were, but still well above some fairly average ones in the Johnsonville/Churton Park/Newlands area. The Chinese takeaways here are really good though.
Fantastic gluten free battered fish and delicious chips cooked gluten free. I'm thrilled to have found somewhere offering gluten free options, and am impressed by how good the battered fish was - a light crispy batter and I really couldn't tell it was gluten free. They took care to cook the gf items separately. My family who don't need gluten free said their normal fish and chips were awesome too. This will definitely become our regular now.
Our go to place for anything fish and chips, chinese food and burgers! never disappoints.. fresh scoop of large chips is huge quantity and very yummy! fish is always nice and fresh. very good chicken and beef burgers. Their chicken wings are yummy too.. also very good chicken fried rice.

Fish (both battered and crumbed), chips, kumara chips, hot-dog, chicken schnitzel, crab stick, seafood stick all very good. Chinese fried rice and other dishes always done well with lots of meat.
If you call up and phone order, they give you a very good estimate of ready-time which is pretty much always accurate. Well done!

My local fish and chip shop. I have never been disappointed, we never used to be regulars but the first time we tried them was an amazing experience which is why we always come back. Supporting local businesses is important! If you don't want to wait 10mins at the shop for them to cook, give them a ring before you leave. They have amazing service!
actually after I read all the review which mostly was postive comments just a few hicups I decided to try this pm, I bought a family pack it was really superb deep fry fish+chips, fish tender and fresh not dry at all, battered not thick but juicy, can tell fish is fairly fresh. chips cutted right size fried golden yellow, not too dry, love it. I would give 8/10, warpped in two diffent pack very thoughtful of the owner, will try again
First time going here and was fabulous. Was very busy but very streamlined. Even heard someone get Gluten Free something.? Had never heard that before. 10 minutes drive away from where we live but worth it. 💖
