The food taste good and the environment is beautiful. Especially recommended ramen and teriyaki chicken.
My go to place when I’m craving for ramen. They have very tasty and good portion ramen at a reasonable price. We’ve been back several times. I can’t wait to go back there again.
Post lockdown ramen cravings. Didnt realise they did ramen here and its the best ive had in Hamilton.
Tried the tantan ramen which was delicious. Beef tataki ok. Tonkatsu ramen pretty good too.

EDO is UNREAL. I came across EDO one day as I was in the mood for ramen. I googled 'ramen in Hamilton', long and behold I discovered a wee little gem.
Now Hamilton is no Auckland when it comes to food, we all know that, but we have to take what we can get and hope that genius people like EDO's owners come to town and open a restaurant.
Basically, if you want some bomb ass ramen then go to EDO, there is no better in town. ALSO, if you would like some out of this world takoyaki, squid karaage, sashimi, sushi, fried noodle, tempura, lovely service, calming atmosphere, and more to accompany that ramen, then my friend you have won the jackpot here.

An amazing Japanese food restaurant! Very bright and tidy. Menus have many choices. I love those ramen and appetizer, especially Beef soba noodles and Takoyaki these are so yummy! Highly recommend!

Wonderful Japanese Restaurant in Hamilton CBD
Looked everywhere to find this place but it seemed that they did not update the address.
Zomato showed that this place was in Hamilton East but it was actually in Central.
I was expecting same old Japanese style Restaurants where all the dishes are slightly overpriced with small portion.
All the food I ordered in this place was so huge I could not believe it.
Soba noodle with tempura was only $20, portion like this in Auckland would have been about $35, Ramen was jumbo sized to begin with, deep fried platter was $30 with heaps of chicken fish squid and prawns.
Slight downside was all the dishes were slightly bland. Could use more flavour!
Nice food. Good service and environment. Reasonable price. Quite enjoyable. I recommend the chicken nanban, dumplings and gyudon! Yummy!!!!!

A little gem in the town and the only ramen restaurant in Hamilton city. The broth is very well balanced in flavour and pearly noodles were great . the BBQ pork just melts away in your mouth, you can also choose to add the extra topping into your soup. the sashimi is so fresh as well. highly recommend
One of my favorite places to hang out. We booked for 7 people, that was enough place around the table. Staff was super acknowledged and welcomed. Restroom clean and pretty big. I am a fan of their tan-tan Ramen noodles, and their fresh sushi. I would recommend this place for small groups
Ramen was delicious- you can really taste the pork flavor infused into the soup. The BBQ pork was full of melt in your mouth pork belly. I also like their miso soup and Karaage Chicken. The foods also comes out super quick!

Best Ramen and gyoza in Hamilton highly recommend this place. The spicy Ramen was perfect. Sesame seeds and chili oil added interesting twisters to this spicy ramen. The staff were super friendly.
This is alittle gem in town.

Good location but hidden in the Kmart. They offer great ramen with high quality soup. Another advantage is it appears to open the whole day from the morning to midnight, which means we don’t miss it any day if we want to enjoy a ramen
I had the syoyu ramen today and it was really good. The soup was nice and not too salty. There was a good amount of noodles and wasn't the cheap kind that I've had elsewhere. Good portion size and service was fast.
The ramen is quite tasty, and considering it's one of the few places in Hamilton has ramen on menu, it definitely worth a visit. The teriyaki chicken donburi is good portion, but general taste, had better ones elsewhere in town.

Edo has reopened the restaurant on Victoria st, so I decided to have a try. They are offering quite an extensive menu, including a variety of ramen, donburi, sushi and sashimi, tempura and other deep fried food, salads and cold dishes etc. The restaurant has been nicely decorated, and the staff are friendly and helpful. We ordered seafood fried noodles, seafood donburi, tempura, and katsu chicken. Very happy about the food quality and freshness, and good portion too. Would definitely come back to try some other dishes.
Food quality is getting a lot a lot better than we visited last few month ago. Noodles are very tasty, sashimi is very fresh. Portions are decent size too.
The best thing to order here is the tonkotsu ramen with added soft boiled egg. Sometimes the soup is too salty but most of the time it's just right. The portion is too huge so if you are a small eater share it with a friend.
The food is soooo good! The service is very fast. Staff is very friendly and accomodating. Will definitely recommend this restuarant to my friends and will definitely go back to try the other dishes.

This place isnt too bad, The ebuyaki was delicious but wasnt overly pleased with my chicken teriyaki. Also they were very slow to serve us. Would return for the ebuyaki for sure.
Good food, a lot more of an authentic style than most of the Japanese places in Hamilton so might not be to everyone's taste. Teriyaki chicken is really good, as is the tuna sashimi and the takoyaki
A lively and open space Japanese restaurant, EDO is a joint worthy of a Friday night meal and chilling with friends.
The menu was bright and easy to read, and had your typical Japanese meal choices.
We ordered a ramen with extra pork, chicken donburi, chicken katsu/curry and a large sashimi set. Honestly the quality of food was amazing considering it's Hamilton. The broth for the ramen had a strong rich flavour and the pork slice was thin and moist. My choice of the katsu curry, had a deep and smokey flavour which I thought was unique in a positive way.
The service here is a bit of a hit and miss; they are clearly under staffed, but they did look like they were trying their best. I also had to eat my katsu/curry with my cousin's ladle because there was no more spoons 😁.

Not sure if this is the one at the back of the Kmart complex? The address says corner of Ward, Bryce,and Tristram st (which is Kmart), but the map shows a Hamilton East location.
Anyway, if this is the Edo restaurant at Kmart, I can heartily recommend it! They have excellent ramen, tempura and takoyaki - and given the dearth of good Japanese food in Hamilton, they have been an absolute godsend! We visit whenever we can. Not a fan of their donburi or chawan mushi though.
Omgeeee, come for lunch and what can I say such beautiful fresh food and lots of left overs. The staff were amazing the food was to die for, company was amazing to. Yes it was abit on the pricey side but quality was on point, will defiantly be back
Oh, wow! Their spicy Ramen is soooo good. Get the Fried Chicken and Takoyaki, too. The place is much bigger than when they were at K-Mart. The Staff are very helpful and polite. There are a lot of other foods to try. Reasonably pruced and the servings are generous.❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing tempura, so fresh and crunchy with a wide variety. As well as their noodle dishes, never fails to fill us up and tastes so good. I usually get the tempura udon dish and it's just great everytime. 👍🏼
We came across this beautiful Japanese Restaurant on our visit to Hamilton and I cannot rave about this place enough!

When we entered the building we were taken care of straight away, water was put on the table and we were served our dishes directly from the chef himself and asked if we were sharing our ramen dish so he could tend to us and get us extra dishes.
I chose a ramen dish whilst my husband had miso soup and the ramen was not only flavorsome but plentiful.
The place was spotless and clean all around with beautiful decor and atmosphere.
We were both fully satisfied when we left and would highly recommend to check this place out if given the chance!
We will be back in the future.

We got a really big portion of takowasabi. Wish we could choose the noodles in our ramen as they were the thin long type. Medium spicy on the spicy miso ramen noodles was pretty hot, the spicy ramen was less so.
A rare Japanese restaurant in Hamilton who offers classic Japanese delicious. No crazy spicy chicken sushi, no western Japanese food at all. If you want to have taste the real flavour of Japanese food. Here is the right choice. Strongly recommend Seafood don, eel don. Enough for a men. Not like the iJapanese restaurant nearby, stingy to give more rice.

First time we visited Edo was at the old address where is now K-Mart. The style and quality remained the same, if not higher. Generous portions, enough for any hungry soul. I like spicy meal and chose the lamen one, which was rightly spicy and loved it. Tempura is often the best choice, comes crunchy and well marinated. Location is good, plenty off street parking, free up to 2 hours.
For a Japanese restaurant, the portion size was good and food came out quick, which is rare these days!
Ordered 3 pieces of nigiri, although it seemed pricey at first, the slices of fish were thick and chunky!
The Aburi Salmon Don and Aburi Salmon Nigiri that we ordered didn't have aburi (torched), but sure if it was forgotten if it's just their style (then the name should be changed though!)
Food is always amazing here especially Aburi Salmon, eel and the sashimi platters. However, service can be improved as the waitress doesn’t seem to have much knowledge on the food and couldn’t answer a lot of our questions.
Another suggestion is regarding the closing hour. On the website it said the restaurant closes at 8:30pm, we arrived at 7:30pm (no booking) and was advised by the waitress that she will check if the kitchen is still open. We were seated in the end but as soon as our food arrived the waitress and one of the chefs came out and started packing, including mopping the floor around where we sit, collecting the empty plates as soon as we finish each dish; keeping in mind that it was 7:45pm when this happened. I thought this was quite rude as it clearly shows that they wanted us to leave. It made us feel super rush. In the end we packed the rest of the food home because we just didn’t want to continue eating there any longer. We ended up leaving the place at 7:58pm…
A wide variety to choose from on the menu, there is I think 8 pages total so definitely takes some time to look through it all. I have visited EDO a few times, the food has always been great and still comes out within half an hour despite busy, peak hour periods. FOH waitress is very polite and is always observant of customers - always ready to help. Some of the seafood is not fresh though which is a bit of a let down. I would prefer quality, over a large quantity menu. Also water is pre-poured at the counter which is not so appealing, I do not know how long the water has been sitting there.
Love this place, I come here a few times a month. They have ramen with fried chicken! So good. service is fast, friendly, and soup is hot. the location is perfect for date night or eating alone.
We had the Tokusei Gyokai Ramen and the Umakara Miso Ramen which were both delicious!! Hands down the best Ramen I’ve had so far in Hamilton! :)
Their ramen is the one of the best ramen in Hamilton that I’ve ever had! The broth has deep flavor and well balanced. The Japanese fried chicken was so good. Come here for the ramen! The service was amazing.

Found this gem while driving past Hamilton. The place is spacious and clean. Food was awesome - one of the better Japanese restaurant I’ve tried. Very generous portion for the price. enjoyed every food we ordered, will be back for sure 🤩
