All the food was incredible! Every bite was given so much attention and was packed with flavour! The restaurant decor and setting didn't equal the quality of the food but you hardly notice once the food arrives.

We came to this place at lunch time as it is the Village Green Cafe for lunch and changes to Calye at night.
Different owners, staff and menus!! Great idea and fantastic use of space.
Both were excellent but this review is for Calye.
We saw the lamb dish for 2 and had to come back for dinner to order. It came with 2 sides and is very good value for I think $74.
The lamb shoulder was absolutely divine. Fell of the bone and beautiful sauce,/broth.
The sides of mesculin salad with tamarind dressing and twice cooked baby potatoes with creme fraiche were also excellent.

Highly recommend this new restaurant! Amazing food! The head chef/owner of Calye really knows how to combine ingredients to make something delicious. It's located at the Village Green Cafe in Havelock North. (The Village Green turns in Calye at night.) Open 6 days a week, closed on Sundays.

Our group of 10 enjoyed a delicious mix of meals tonight at Calye. Standouts were the pancake, lamb, salad, pumpkin and potato. The brownie dessert was enjoyed very much. Would recommend to all. Thank you.
Go! The food at Calye is ridiculously good. Don't let the cafe front fool you, this food is some of the best in Hawke's Bay and the team there are lovely. Everything is delicious. Would eat here every week if I was allowed. Bang on flavours and service and so nice to see a place like this popping up locally. They will smash it 👌
