The staff are amazing and this place offers sober driver drinks aswell, the food is to die for!!
Awesome place for a great meal. Staff are friendly, food is delicious and well priced (the surf & turf is our families personal favourite) & it's a great atmosphere when the live bands are playing. Easily one of my favourite dining spots in Huapai! It's not pretentious and its somewhere you can relax, have a beer and enjoy a well cooked meal.
Great Juicy Burgers. Friendly staff. Easy to find. Good service didn’t have to wait for so long
For food. Will definitely be back next in area. Reasonably priced for pub grub.

First time here and will definitely be back. Food is mean, service is excellent and the atmosphere is laid back and genuine. Ordered egg and bacon burger, $10 sausage egg and chips daily special and the $7 SMALL wedges.
Good atmosphere, friendly staff, we came here for a quiz night and it was good pub grub served, not overpriced and not bland. Just as you’d expect but a little nicer! All 5 of us enjoyed our meals and desserts - well the dessert selection was YUM!!
Really good, old school, pub grub. It's not flashy, but that's what's great about it - friendly service, cold handles, and hearty food. Options for every budget too. In winter the fire place is nice too.
This place has amazing food, so much of it and super good value, and service was outstanding! We felt very welcome, and it has a buzzy atmosphere :) we will definately be back! Cant rate it high enough, especially for being a pub. We were impressed!

Was on way back to Auckland and thought we would get something to eat. We were in a vege store and he told us about the Haupai Tavern. The staff were very helpful ehen we came thru the door. A menu was handed to us and we were given plenty of time to read. My wife picked the scallops, chips and salad for $20 and I ordered sausage, mash potatoes,bacon, peas and onion rings for $15. The meals were served up in a good time. both meals were well cooked and presented. Scallops were the best we have had for along time. Very pleasant pub atmosphere.Wish it was closer to us so could go more often
Great Pub with welcoming and friendly locals and staff. The food is always delicious, especially the steak lunch cooked to perfection :). Sundays are cool, where there is a live band. Great place to chill out and kick back with a great atmosphere. Toasty in the winter and great place to enjoy the sunshine and friendly locals. The Huapai Tavern is one of the last proper Pubs with reasonable food prices, pool table, SKY sports. Thanks guys n gals see ya's soon :) Charlee n Tony xx

A cosy and warm tavern with a very friendly and attentive bar tender. Glen makes everyone feel welcome and happily shows interest in his patrons.

This tavern is amazing. The proprietor is very helpful with any requests, the food is awesome and staff are lovely. Such a great atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is plenty of parking and you are made very welcome when you arrive. Would highly recommend this tavern. 🙂

Food and service were on point! Stopped in a couple of times for dinner over the past couple of weeks with work mates and have left happy both times. I enjoyed the Surf & turf, while the others raved about the burgers, seafood chowder, pork belly bites etc. The fireplace was super inviting and kept the place nice and warm on the cold winter nights.
We decided to stop off at Huapai Tavern for lunch on our way home from a night away, as it being Our 3 year wedding anniversary. THE STAFF: A+++ Friendly welcome at entry, Awesome Service, comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Big ups to the Chef & helping hands Seafood Chowder/Garlic bread & Crumbed Scallop meal was absolutely filling and so tasty, loved it! Quick to remedy our unfortunate mishap, as another patron stole our $20 from our machine in the gaming room, even though they didnt have too, much appreciated their hospitality and generous act.
Thank you for a memorable time that's for sure! We will be back!

The food is awesome. There are new chefs and the pork belly bites are perhaps the best thing I've eaten at a pub in years. Great bands, great hospitality, awesome dumplings. Recommend!

I had a little winge today about no sticky caramel sauce on my sticky date pudding, which it should have otherwise it is a date sponge. Your staff handled my winge with good grace :) However, what I neglected to tell the staff was the rest of our food was superb. Basic pub grub done really well. My steak was melt in your mouth tender, perfectly cooked, salad was super fresh and tasty. Our table of 3 really enjoyed our meals. Will be back in 2 weeks. Thank you team at Huapai Tavern

My friends and I agreed to meet at this pub for a catch up on a weekday. Situated in the centre of rural township of Huapai, this old pub building has indoor - outdoor flow and a restaurant catering to a variety of dining preferences. Warm and friendly staff. Diverse clientele. A pleasant hospitality experience... Recommended!
Fabulous traditional pub fare. Great to find a Kiwi pub that is producing tasty meals. We had the fish and chip meal and the seafood chowder. Outstanding country pub fare.

Sunday just gone was first time back since COVID - now we can understand what we have been missing. Place was jam-packed and rocking to a great band, atmosphere totally friendly and welcoming. Can't wait (till next Sunday) to do it all again.
