Wedges (NZD 15) was really yummy, the burgers were not bad but one the pricey end (NZD 20). Good meal as there isn’t other options nearby. There was a credit card surcharge of NZD 1.50

This place is a must if you are passing by, the locals and employees are extremely nice. Great band and vibes. Food wise, the ribs fell off the bone, were extremely tender and tasted beautiful, one of the best iv had traveling NZ. The burger was okay. Would go again to try another dish and get the ribs if I pass through. Highly recommend making the effort to stop by of given a chance.

What a great pub.  Been meaning to come here for a while.  If travelling I reckon plan your journey north or south to stop off here.  The Hoki and Chips was really good, two big pieces, great batter.  Nice and friendly staff.  Lovely garden area out the back and our wee dog allowed in  Definitely recommend.

Unique fine in Northland. Best stop so far for fresh hearty pub food. For any petrol head a must stop as pub is a Bogan dream. Themed for petrol heads with drag cars and classics. Grap a beer and a meal. Rock ambiance, who would have thought in a 100 year plus pub.

Great venue, nice staff. But had to say my meal was 1/5. Seafood platter with fries was very sub par. 2 small scallops, no roe. 2 very tiny shrimps the size of a 10c peice, 1 and a half prawn twisters, 3 fish bites and no mussels as advertised. Nothing fresh, but to be expected in a country pub. But for $26 was WAY over priced as most of it was chips. BUT, other meals ordered looked good, dory (with chips) and scotch (with chips). Guys, suggestion...please either half the price of the seafood platter, or put twice as much seafood on there. As I could have fit the amount of seafood in 1 hand. Also surprised there was no top shelf drinks.

Great place to take the fams for dinner and a few games of pool. We visited on a Sunday night and the food was good, the atmosphere was very warm and interesting. Everything is pay-as-you-order, whereas i prefer to start a tab at the start and pay once at the end. All in all, Kaihu Tavern is a great place for a feed and drink.

Found this pub while touring NZ. Very laid back owners and a great atmosphere. They had a band performing when we called in and it was a very family friendly affair. Food is excellent and beer cold, what else could you want.
