We owned kekerungu store in the 80,s when it had a post office and petrol pumps,it was our family business, In those days it was a very busy place catering for the tourists and locals, We have lived all around nz and have never found a more peaceful and beautiful place to live.
We arrived first thing in the morning and upon entering were greeted with a lovely log fire and an amazing building and setting.
We had scones and coffee my brother in law has told everyone they are the best scones he has ever had.
felt you could sit and relax and enjoy the day.....
Me and my Dad stopped here 2 years ago. We travelled to New Zealand all the way from Detroit, Michigan (USA). Like many tourists, I was inspired by Lord of the Rings. Great food & scenery. Can't wait to come back!
Great place for a stop! Yummy food and the views! WAY too many people drive past this hidden gem!
Absolutely fabulous, staff friendly, welcoming and so helpful. Food was superb and the ambience is sensational....an absolute winner!!!
Met an old colleague here for lunch yesterday. The food was lovely and we spent a relaxing few hours catching up. Rain meant we couldn't go for a walk but it's worth a stop if you are passing by
Love this place. The food, the scenery, the ambience. Stop there every time we go past.
We love The Store and stop here any chance we get...looking forward to stopping for great food - fantastic atmosphere (fire to die for) and the Views are beyond stunning....

On the long drive from Chch to Blenheim we arrived 10mins after closing time which was frustrating as we were planning on stopping here to feed our 8month old. We knocked on the door to ask the staff who were busy cleaning if they could heat up our food for us. The girls were amazing and welcomed us in and even let us sit in the restaurant to feed our baby instead of having to sit in the car. We normally stop here for coffee and food and will certainly
Continue to do so after the service we received!! Thank you.
What a beautiful place to visit. Just had a yummy eggs Benny and coffee in front of a roaring open fire served by a truly happy and helpful waitress by the name katrina. Will be back again and I hope Katrina is working on my next visit as she really puts the happy bubble into your day. Thanks guys
First impressions count, right? After driving past this place over the years, I finally stopped by and got a caffeine and zen hit. Plus a scone.
Big place with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Grounds to walk around in that are well maintained.
Small menu from the kitchen, but that just means it will be fantastic. Toilets are clean and bright. Allpress coffee was delicious. Pretty cool that they have a campsite next door. It is great to sit in the sun and listen to the birds while watching the seal/s and watching the waves wash up on the shore.
Busy place on the highway
My wife and I stopped at The Store for lunch on a weekday recently, while driving up from Christchurch to Blenheim.
The place was full - we had to wait to grab a table. This is because at least 2 garden tour buses had arrived at the same time.
But the service was reasonably prompt. The vegetarian bruschetta I had was nice - wholesome and tasty.
The setting of this place is superb. Veggie garden, lawns, views of the Pacific Ocean- all combine well.
I will be happy to dine here again.
Great lunch stop between Kaikōura and Blenheim. The potato frittata was outstanding and the chowder was fabulous. Fantastic ambience and sea views from inside or outside. Will have to come back on the way back!
Lovely place. Fine food, good Coffee. Friendly personal. Great wiew over the ocean.
Iconic coastal cafe on the coast road between Blenheim and Kaikoura. We had seafood chowder which was delicious. It's a great location with ever changing sea views and a good selection of food and wines.
Absolutely stunning place, awesome food and fantastic staff. Thank you for an amazing breakfast!! 👌
Amazing cafe and campsite with stunning views right by the sea. My photos don't do it justice.
For a pit-stop type place, I was pretty impressed with it! Dont judge it by its exterior!
The coffee was well made (although I did ask for it not too hot, i did have to wait a bit before it didnt burn my tongue a bit - but the milk hadnt lost texture so...) and the GF Choc Brownie was absolutely spot on. Staff were really cool and lovely too (thanks guys!)
Heard about the seafood chowder and had to try, we arrived just as they were closing the kitchen but they happily took our order. We were very grateful as we are travelling from Western Australia and had this on the to do list. It was delicious as expected and the view was beautiful.
Stopped for coffee and ended up with a huge slice of the most amazing bacon and egg pie with hot chips then realised we could stay over in our camper too!!!! Win, win all the way.
