So lucky we have somewhere like this in the Bay of Islands.
The setting is beautiful. Set on the edge of the tropical garden. Feels like you're in Bali or somewhere tropical (if you sit outside, we have never sat inside, haha)
The kai is always a journey!
We don't come here often because we live out of Keri, but when we do, it's always amazing!
You pay for what you get, and it's worth it!
It's now our anniversary spot for dinner!!
The flavours are so good. The concepts look like they won't work, but they really do, and it's a place that allows you to try kai that might be a bit out of your comfort zone.
Everything is seasonal. Our meal was off the summer menu.
You can tell the chef puts in a lot of time and effort to perfect his art, and he loves what he does. Or if he hates it and wants to retire, we can't tell. 😅
Staff are always friendly and happy. We are always welcomed like we are seasoned diners. Laughs are had.
For an entire restaurant experience this restaurant is world class. From the warm welcome, unique setting to the small but exquisite seasonal menu Māha never disappoints. Diane is an exceptional mixologist when it comes to serving divine cocktails, her husband the chef quietly works away to deliver mouthwatering dishes from local and cleverly sourced ingredients. For any occasion this exquisite restaurant should be on your must visit list.
The restaurant is in the middle of beautiful gardens, just an absolutely lovely setting and gorgeous ambiance. We went with a large group of people and most of us were satisfied with our dishes. I ordered the fish with scallop and edamame risotto and it was absolutely worth it! Diane was very attentive and kind to us!
Came here for lunch and we had Tankatsu, lobster bique and wood ear fungi everything was good but the portions were bit small and the tortellini were too salty and we could taste the flour dough. The whole vibe of the resturant was really great highly recommended for drinks.
How lucky is Kerikeri (and Northland) to have Ming and Diane running their beautiful restaurant here? Fantastic japanese- and mediterranean influenced food - something different and reasonably priced for the ingredients' quality and their attention to detail!
Their wide selection of (alcohol-free) drinks is fabulous (the mocktails sounded mouth-watering, but I needed to keep something to try for next time)! We loved trying and sharing a few different things on the menu; it made our tastebuds sing, and we all left the restaurant so happy! Impeccable service and just a perfect night out for us, we will be back! :)
Warm and friendly welcome, with delicious food to follow. Highly recommended
Had the halloumi tomatos and duck ramen. Absolutely blown away by the flavour and skill put into these dishes. Hands down some of the best food I've tried.
Will be back
My go to recommendation for anyone wanting something special. I have not had one bad dish here! I love what they do and their cocktails are always yum!
A more expensive meal out than standard for us but 100% worth it, would love to go again.
Beautiful restaurant and gardens with a resident art collection making a lovely ambience.
The food was amazing, brilliant flavour compositions taken from Japan and brought to NZ. Go expecting fine dining not typical meat and two veg.
I would recommend getting a starter then main and you'll find it rich and filling, the wood ear mushroom side was also a real highlight.
Service was really nicely done but a little bit slow to get drinks initially.
Lovely food, good service. Will definitely come again as there are a lot of interesting dishes we would still like to try. Meal sizes are generous and the food was fresh and tasty.
