Kohi fish n chips is the best fish n chips ive had. No fish n chips can rival it. The food is always fresh and delicious and I’ve never meet such nice staff before. 11/10 bants and the 10/10 yum.
After spending a sunny afternoon on Kohimarama Beach with my boyfriend, we decided to get fish and chips for dinner. I knew about this place from Zomato and decided it was probably one of the best places around the area. We arrived around 5pm and it didn’t seem busy. After we ordered, there was a queue of people so we were so glad we ordered before them. The food came out quickly and we were both satisfied with our meal. We both got a battered snapper fillet each and he also got a portion of fries. The fish was delicious, it was crispy and perfectly fried on the outside and inside was juicy and cooked to perfection. I’d definitely recommend coming here to grab fish and chips if you’re ever in the area!
This is the best fish and chip place I’ve been the staff are extremely friendly and they are always working hard to get the orders out. The food is always good quality aswell.

Our go to takeaways in central auckland. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful, plus the chips are great. The fish is always super fresh, and kohi is pretty constant in their overall quality.

Just what a fish and chip shop should be. After our time in Christchurch we'd been hankering for snapper, though a bit wary of fish and chip shops. But I read the reviews of this place and it's just up the road from our motel, so we gave it a go. SO GLAD. The place was busy--always a good sign--and the staff very nice. The crumbed snapper was perfect, the chips exactly what they should be. My potato fritter was average (too thick a slice of potato, methinks), but with chips this good who cares. I highly recommend this one.

Chips are bloody nice here 5 out of 5, 2013 Mr Chips Award on the wall, staff are very friendly and very clean seating area. Snapper is $5.20/fillet (battered) a bit on the pricey side. I had a bluffy, batter was yum. I'll b back.
Don't waste your money anywhere else!! This Fish'n chips place is the best of the best!! Order your fish crumbed and you will be in for a treat, and onion rings to go with it. Very well priced perfect for a super casual but delicious dinner option. It's always incredibly busy but staff is always smiling and polite. Well done!
Really good value takeaways considering it's in the Eastern Bays, where usually simple takeaways are overpriced. The fish of the day was Tarakihi, which is a step up on the Hoki which most places have as their lowest price option. Simple food but yummy and up to the expected standard.

Customer service was on point, burgers and fish made exquisitely. Freshest fish off the block, highly recommend! They've been in the business for so long and have accumulated their experiences, being the best fish and chips takeaway out there.

Love the chicken burgers there. Service is great and the chips are amazing for the price that they cost. About $5 to feed 3 people with chips. Will go again!
First time experience here at Kohi Fresh Fish. Only tried the hot chips. Which were cooked to perfection by the staff there. Dont let the outer appearance put you off. The higher than expected level of customer service and excellent food is worth it. Parking a bit of a struggle on a busy Friday night but we will try again. Thanks for the experience .
Fantastic fish and chip shop - been living in the area 15 years and never had anything but the best whether buying fish to cook at home or takeaways. The fact that the shop is always full of people says it all. Friendly staff, clean premises.

Having lived in Kohimarama for 4 years, the chip shop on Melanesia Rd has happily been my local. It's a friendly family-owned business that is always busy. Everything I've ever ordered has been great. I buy dinner from there probably more often than I should and I've never once had a bad experience. Even if you don't live in the area, it's nice to grab some fish & chips and walk straight down to the beach (you can walk between the tennis & bowling clubs).
We are locals and know Melensia Road to have the best fish and chips around. Just look at the queue outside the door to know it's true. We love the vegetarian burgers with all the trappings and the only place where they give your double cheese as standard. The chips are delicious, never too greasy and any seafood is fresh. Great service too, always friendly and helpful!
We are locals and the fish and chips is always of a very high standard. I love the crumbed fish and my husband loves it battered. The chips are tasty and the crumbed prawns are delish. Once a week I also get fresh fish to cook at home and my family love it.

They do crumbed fish as well which would make a high end restaurant envious. This place is close to Kohi beach and you can have a nice summer experince with Fish and Chips at Kohi beach. Don't pay Mission bay prices when this place is close. Highly recommended. A++
My husband and I popped in to pick up some fresh fish to marinade for raw fish, unbeknown to me he decided to place an order for fish and chips as well. He'd seen the cleanliness and the amount of people waiting for their meals, so he wanted to try it out too. We continued walking home with a hole through our packet of fish n chips, o.m.goodness... it was so nice!!! We're going back there again tonight, nom nom.

Chips were crispy as! Fish was battered well and fresh.
There was a bit of dinner rush on a Saturday but expectations were set and we were told how long it might take. If there's a line, it must be good! And it was 😁. They're located very close to the beach so you can picnic while watching the sunset.
Firstly - the fish and chips are wrapped in newsprint paper which is a great start. This is a large and a medium snapper fillet crumbed, and they were huge pieces, with a scoop of chips. A great feed of F&C's and well recommend. Perhaps the chips were slightly on the small size of portion.
The only negative was that due to very high demand, there was a long delay between order and delivery, so my recommendation on peak nights is to order well before you need it.
The photos show the fillets with a can of coke so you can see the size of the fillets.
Easily the best fish and chips in the bays and it’s great that you can purchase fresh fish to take home.
Stopped in this time for a potato fritter on the way home but am a regular for their toasted sandwiches and battered fish, 10/10!

Fresh fish from the window is an option (the blue cod is a particular treat) to go straight on the grill or in the fryer.
It’s a true Kiwi fish and chip shop, that doesn’t screw you on the serves and prices.

ok now this was my go to and still after missing it for years nothing has changed > always friendly staff who deliver your order to the car or call your order from the door. responsibly priced and options of crumbed or battered fish + a good selection of sides. we all here the price is on the rise for the kiwi favourite however if your going to lose your bananas - it’s called inflation - photo below (paua fritter and fish cake fritter with a hand full of crispy hot chips)
Best value fish and chips ever! It is very very busy, over an hour wait on Fridays and Saturdays for a good reason. Two snappers, chips, crabstick and a hotdog for under $20!
Pretty good fish and chips, but the portions seemed smaller than other fish and chips shops that I have visited in the area. The chips were not as crispy as many other places. It is busy, so the “locals” must like it a lot! They have fresh fish available for purchase if you want to cook it at home yourself. Good prices, too

There was long queue of orders when we reached the shop. I can say the fish tasted good. The chips were okay. Although, they offer a lot more choices. Worth to pay a visit, order some fish and chips and you can enjoy eating it in a nearby Kohimarama beach.

10 out of 5 stars, HIGHLY recommend. BEST fish n chips in Auckland. We had a big feed from here last night, the crumbed snapper was SOO delicious and fresh, it fell apart and melts in your mouth. Also the service was amazing, so friendly and squeezed in our big order even though they were shutting at 8pm. Will definitely be back ;) :)
Beautiful, fresh snapper and terakihi. Perfect chippies. Staff were very friendly and helpful, didn't bat an eye that we wanted 8 individual packets with different extra treats. Short walk to the beach made a perfect team lunch. Yum!

Never been disappointed!! Always hits the spot with their light and crispy battered fish & oysters. Fish is always fresh and oysters are decent size... been to this family run business for over 20+ years.
i have ate at this fish and chips place twice. and it never disappoints. value for money. i love the sides like the crab stick! the crumbed fish is better than the batter one. and the grilled cheese and steak toastier was good as well but not as good as the fish and chips. takeaway to the nearest beach and enjoy it. don’t forget to bring your own chilli.
