Whoops, was so hungry forgot to take a picture till too late! Total breakfast bill $51.50 for two, everything tasty and fine
I took a group to Soljans on Monday for a business lunch and everyone in the group enjoyed it. The food was delicious and very nicely cooked. I highly recommend the lamb shank, one was plenty. The service was great. Our waiter did a great job in informing us about the meals and helping with the selections.
Soljans nailed it and added to the New Zealand experience for our international guests.
We had a super amazing birthday lunch at Soljans today. We started off with a winery tour, learning all about wine and tasting the different varieties that the vineyard had to offer! Then, we headed over to the cafe next door for lunch with some more of their "fusion" sparkling rose! We all shared their cheese platters which was pretty and had a good variety. I ordered the salmon hash cake, the portion was huge and it was super tasty! I also tried my friends fish &a chips, gnocchi and sausages. Everything looked and tasted amazing. We finished off a delightful meal with some of the winery's classic desserts. The bombe Alaska was HUGE and I liked the coffee icecream. The chocolate panna cotta sounded cool but tasted average, it was more like a hardened mousse which wasn't my cup of tea! Overall, I really enjoyed my day at Soljans and would definitely go back 😊
We enjoyed our Easter Sunday at Soljans Winery was fantastic experience. Kids also liked it special easter activities were there for them to have fun. Berba festival on Easter was another addition to have enjoyment and to know more about Croation culture. We loved our wine tour with Tony Soljans and our lunch at cafe. Overall awesome wow!!!
We love to buy wine here from solians as a gift to customers. Everytime we go there, we will take kids have brunch together. The little train was very popular and so much fun for kids.
Visited here for my sisters 50th and found the food good and the locality was lovely. Little pricey but I guess that is what prices are these days for good food and drinkies!!
Brunch on a lazy Sunday! The winery is close to our house thus was a convenient choice. The cafe’s menu was not that long but decent. I got the open lasagna which was surprisingly yum even without meat. Wifey’s eggs Ben was on a shredded potato base, topped with portobello mushroom and caramelised onions. The dessert Baked Alaska got us excited, brownie base, vanilla ice cream filling, covered with meringue and served on a very hot plate. Yum!
The sun was shining brightly even though Joseph Parker failed to win in the fight against Anthony Joshua early yesterday morning. For his Kiwi fans, some had their own battle to contend with before the fight even kicked off – church or boxing. No, I did not wake up in time to watch the match, neither did I attend Mass on Easter Sunday. For me, it wasn’t a debate whether to miss or delay mass for the boxing match. I just took it easy . If I wake up in time, we go and watch the boxing match. I am sure God is not pleased with me but He is always gracious no matter what I do and will forgive me (and all sinners) again and again as long as I know that He is God and pray for forgiveness. Amen.
Great place lovely venue and the staff were very helpful and great, went for a special occasion and the food was AMAZING tasty fresh.. enjoyed this place
We were seating outside on a beautiful day, was lovely. Wine was delicious, quite liked the tasting tray as I have issues with indecisiveness so it was perfect. Apparently the eggs benny was good, I tasted the hollandaise and it was good. My duck confit was a disappointment though. The bits that weren’t dry tasted good, but there was far too much that was so dry I couldn’t even eat it. The jus was nice but the orange purée too overpowering. Will still come back to try other things as the kids menu was so great that Mr 4 was very happy, but don’t get the duck.
We had a lovely lunch at Soljans. We started with garlic bread which came in 3 thick, big pieces. My wife had a lamb salad with dried cranberry, walnuts, kale & croutons. (I tried a piece of the lamb & it was tender & well-flavoured.) For myself, I had the confit duck leg with orange purée, butter braised fennel & red wine juice. It was a perfect dish!

My fave place to go. The food is always perfect. Went for a set menu recently so good. Can't wait to get married there and see what they can achieve with our buffet menu.
Since had my wedding there and been back multiple times for meals. The food is always so good with such amazing staff.
Went yesterday for lunch around 2.30 so didn’t have much time until kitchen closed. They were really accommodating even though we arrived so late.
We ordered the chicken main, fries x2, salmon hashcake, cheese board, open vegetarian lasagna and bruschetta
The food for the most part was decent, with good portions. Nothing to rave about, but was a good meal.
Service by most of the waiters/waitresses was super lovely and we never felt too rushed to eat quicker and leave.

First time in for breakfast. Staff were well presented and friendly also accommodating to my dietary needs. You get what you pay for here, the food is delicious matched to the way it's presented. Lovely quite setting just backed off far enough from the main highway, couldn't hear a thing.
Slow roasted pork belly truffle oil mash, shangi pac choy, apple foam, finished with a red wine jus…. It was only natural that I spent my 27th birthday at a winery. In January I was home in New Zealand for the first time in 3 years and not knowing where was good to go I had a tough challenge to choose one of the many awesome wineries near Auckland to celebrate.
Came here in May to celebrate my sons second birthday. Loved every minute here.
The waiters took great care of us. We had brought in a cake and they offered to bring us cutlery and plates even when we hadnt ordered anything yet. They also offered to take a pic of all of us! We definitely felt like we were at home and were made really comfortable.
We ordered eye fillet and duck which were both delicious! Great portion for value and presented really well. The soljans pinot gris is delicious, our favourite.
The best part abt my experience here is the friendliness of all the staff. They all had a smile on and kept checking on us to make sure we werent needing anything.
Love the great outdoor area for kids to run around in. As a mum sometimes i feel embarrassed having to run after a child and being all over the place however staff here made it seem all ok and made me feel normal! No funny evil looks were given.. thank you!!
Beautiful venue, warm fire and great wines.
All the food is delicious and the staff are very attentive and friendly.
We've been here a few times for birthdays and mothers days, never had a bad experience, and the food is always very good.
Spare of the moment lunch with my hubby and daughter. Wow they were packed with a private function and a couple of parties. We were seated straight away and our drinks came quickly. I had the salmon potato stack. Delicious!! My hubby the lamb salad. Loved it. Daughter had the chicken salad. Great!! Dessert was fantastic. Tiramisu, chocolate brownie and caramel slice. All delicious!! Great coffees too. Service was quick friendly and efficient!! Will definitely be back. Thanks Soljans!!!
We go here as a family or group, never disappointed, service and food has always been great! One or the reasons we go is the friendly staff and space for the kids to run around. Just got back from a visit actually and promised myself to write a review, after a nap of course. Highly recommend for a sophisticated, chilled time, especially for tired parents!
Amazing winery- gorgeous food and excellent service. Reasonable and kids friendly. Will definitely be going back again. Highly recommend it!
Beautiful vineyard setting and great wines! We had our wedding reception here 5 years ago, and came back yesterday for our anniversary. They were very busy but service was still quick and top notch. That says volumes about management. Good to see it thriving after all these years. Great venue for a wedding, functions or for romantic dates!
This weekend we decided to head to Kumeu for a day of wine tasting and a really nice lunch. We’d heard great things about the cafe at Soljans Vineyard. It has been selected as one of Auckland’s Top 40 restaurants and so we knew we were in for some really good food.
A bright and airy dining room greeted us with a roaring fire in the corner. Perfect for a crisp wintry day!
We started with the Freshly Baked Cobb with Camembert and Prosciutto and the Beef Terrine wrapped in Prosciutto.
Upon hearing the Camembert would be served in a bread bowl we couldn’t wait for this starter to arrive. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside while the accompanying olive oil and balsamic vinegar was of a very high quality. The accompanying kumara was sweet and nicely seasoned. We would’ve liked a bit more Camembert but that’s just a small niggle in an otherwise delicious dish.
The beef terrine was meaty in flavour and well seasoned. Alex would’ve preferred it a little tastier as French terrine is usually a little spicier but this didn’t majorly detract from the dish.
When ordering pork belly there’s always the worry that it won’t be crispy but a limp fatty piece of meat. The Slow Roasted Pork Belly at Soljans was a huge portion of perfectly crispy pork served with a tasty red wine jus, al dente broccoli and Lyonnaise kumara.
Moroccan Rubbed Lamb Shank with truffle oil mash, beans and tomato red wine jus was comforting and warming on this chilly day. Slow cooked shank, the meat fell slowly away from the bone and the pillowly soft mash soaked up the flavoursome jus perfectly.
A mere 30 minutes from the city we wholeheartedly recommend Soljans Cafe for a nice little escape from the bustle of the CBD. Throw in tasty, well made food and what more could you ask for?
Use to be 1 of our regular spots not sure what was up today though, coffee was real bitter I couldn't drink it think machine might need a good clean out,I ordered the salmon with potato hard cake the cake was bland and hard on the outside like it had being microwaved from frozen then fried, the Romesco sauce had a metal taste to it,think your pans need proving, and my partners hollandaise had no zing and was real salty, apart from that service was great...
I tried the eggs benedict and it was pretty good. Although it would've been nice if the staff came to check on us coz as it turns out my friend God given the wrong drink. We only told the counter as we were paying.
Called in to have a look at the wine sale and decided to have a bite to eat. The lovely waitress who greeted us made us a table up pretty quick as it was busy and we didn't book. Hubby and I ordered the arancini balls, calamari starter and the Croatian salad to share. The arancini and salad was lovely but the calamari was very salty - I know it said salt and pepper calamari but it was just a little too much. For drinks I had a mulled wine - a little cold and no fruit :( but it did have a nice flavour and hubby ordered the 3 taster selection and all 3 wines were delicious. Will go back and try the main menu for dinner one night.

Lovely place to visit in Summer and when the grapes are out in full force. We love their Port wines and always purchase quite a few bottles to take home afterwards. The meals always enjoyable and delicious. We ordered the steak, lamb and their huge platter. Everything were good except the polenta chips that was in the platter were quite salty and when we told the waitress about it, she does not seem to care. We did not want to make a big deal out of it so kinda just let it go, but you would think for the premium price you are paying, she would have take note of it and let the kitchen know for feedback etc... Overall it was great so like I said it was a minor set back but we would still come back for weekend lunch and thinking that it might be a great venue for our wedding too.
Soljans ticks all the boxes for a venue that not only is a cafe but also a getaway from the city. Sadly the weather changed its mind and forced me and my friend inside.
Seated under a fan (I feel the cold and did I ever!) I commented as we were seated that it was chilly but no offer to turn it off sadly.
Service attentive. Many young staff in training. My friend chose the bread. Cleverly stuffed with a hunk of cheese and ham. Served with a dip.
He ordered the egg Benedict on a hash brown while I went for the deep fried brie and a side of cooked vegetables.
I wish the choice of vegetables was something I could have enjoyed. I'm not a fan of steamed chunky capsicum as a vegetable. I prefer them softened somewhat. This put me off sadly.
This is a place where you see other plates whizzing past and wish you had chosen them instead. With Craig Rothville
Nice atmosphere and nicely presented food.
May not be worth the long drive though if you're just going there to eat.
The eggs benedict hollandaise tasted too heavily of butter and hurt your throat after a while.
The mango smoothie was quite bland.
The mushrooms were good though but not sure if it's worth the drive
Soljans Winery has a lovely entrance when you first walk in, it definitely makes you feel like those rich famous celebrities that go to wineries on a daily basis. We sat outside the outdoor area as it was so lovely because of the summery weather and because the wind is blocked it's a bonus. They have a quick service to getting my sons high chair I didn't have to ask they bring it to us straight away. I ordered the fish and chips and it was delicious, would liked of been given a choice of tomato sauce though, other than that it was lovely. Perfect summer lunch in New Zealand . My mother ordered the prawn and calamari salad. It was so perfectly cooked I ended up eating half her meal because of how delicious it was. With the hint of mango inside the salad giving a bit of citrus flavour inside made the whole salad just right. For dessert we got the panna cotta and the tiramisu. The Panna cotta had a vibrant taste full of chocolate goodness If you're a chocolate fan this is for you ! The ice cream and strawberries top it off as well ! The tiramisu was average for me , but the taste was very nice . The service at this resturant has a range of good and not so good . The waitress that greeted us got annoyed because we couldn't pick a nice place for us to sit ( we were a bit fussy as I didn't want to disturb them from my son making noise) we picked to sit outside and she had a annoyed facial expression after that it seemed she got over it and the service got slightly better . Over all I had a good experience . Would like to come back again
Went for a catch up with a few friends and despite the bad weather this place was still warm and welcoming. I had the baked stuff chicken and finished the day with a delicious Rhubarb tart. The food is so reasonably priced for how beautifully presented and delicious the meals are and also can't fail to commend how great the customer service was. Jack in particular was very friendly and patient with looking after a big table of us! Can't wait to go to this place again!!
Been a couple of times now and coming back for fathers day. .looking forward to it.
Great service..warm and toastie.
Love the salmon egg Bene and the pork belly. .
Had a lovely lunch date with hubby at Soljans cafe/restaurant today and very much enjoyed our set menu ($32.pp)
we had a mini loaf with oilve oil and pate for starters and it was delicious, it was warm, soft and just enough, followed by our main which we both chose the Compressed twice cooked pork belly, braised red cabbage, carrot and miso puree, bok choy, finished with apple cider jus, the pork was amazingly tasty and fell away from the knife as i cut through it, the only faults i could pick out if any was the the bok choy did need thorough cleaning as it still has small bits of dirt at the ends and the pork crackle crust probably needed a little longer, it was super chewy but some parts crunchy. still so tasty i ate the whole thing! Chefs dessert of the day was a mini pavlova each, a small amount of cream topped with passion fruit syrup and a base of some sort of coulis. it was nice but very sweet for me. we also had the pinot gris and a apple cider which were lovely. service was really good and look forward to the summers when you can dine out doors they have a lovely garden.:-)
Been here a few times now for lunch.... The garlic bread is a must to start with... The pork is delicious with a crispy crust... Have mostly really enjoyed each meal ... In summertime the fish salad was really yummy ... Great place to come for a special occasion with family.
Soljans is a beautiful wine estate in West Auckland, just before Kumeu.
I've been here for breakfast twice, and eaten the eggs Benedict both times.
I really love their coffee, especially their chocolate mochas. I also enjoyed a glass of their Fusion sparking Sav blanc, which is sweet and tasty!
Beautiful scenery, nice food. Love the wines. Their pinot gris is one of my favorite! The cafe is Mediterranean style and food is delicious. Tried the chicken salad and chocolate pannacota. Would like to come again to try their other menu and wine pairing.
Scallops wrapped in bacon... mouth drools. That was my immediate reaction whilst scouring the menu. And it was a pretty good amalgamation; the bacon enriching the basic seafood, accompanied by a deliciously delicate cauliflower purée, though there was too much chorizo and carrot for my liking. Sides were decent too, and we matched our meals with a light pinot gris. Prices aren't bad and our waitress quite pleasant. However the uninspiring decour and plain furniture detract from the aesthetically pleasing dishes.

Celebrated a special family occasion at Soljans recently.. we we're a reasonably large group and the service and food were spot on. The wine... was devine!
Went for lunch and ordered a Eye fillet steak for main and it was absolutely perfect!!!! Had the Banofee for desert and I can honestly say I have found my new favourite desert - My dining companion advised me that it was better than any food he has tasted before.
The service was good - it did take a while to get our food but was so worth the wait!!!
I've been to Soljans a couple of times and every time has always been great. Although the food you can get from almost anywhere, the atmosphere is amazing.
I have dined at Soljans numerous times and am always impressed. I took an overseas visitor for lunch over the holidays and they loved it, they really enjoyed the Pork Belly, it was excellent.
Great service, great food and of course great wine! highly recommended :-)
Local to home and a real treat to visit most times sometimes they are a little over busy. Atmosphere very pleasant. Food... excellent. Staff... attentive and courteous.
Went for a semi-impromptu lunch. Excellent service and food. Really enjoyed the crispy potato balls - a new favourite. Whilst I was initially disappointed that my first choice main was not available the second choice more than made up for it. Wine was fantastic and desserts that took the little room that was left (and some more). The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. A big change from our last visit a few years back.
Had our daughter's 21st lunch at Soljans last weekend. A party of 60-it was a fantastic experience. From the wonderful organisation by Kylie, to the service staff, to the yummy and plentiful food. Thanks for making it such a memorable occasion to all at Soljans.
Firstly disappointed no booking was listed after ringing twice about it. However food was great party of 14 all enjoyed their meal. The service was pretty good too.
The staff set up quickly for us and everything flowed from there.
This place has really up it's game in the last year.I live closeby so I come here frequently and really noticed the difference. The service and food is really good and I have taken friends here who had been disappointed in the past and they too agree that it has improved it's standards and quality.Good on you Soljans for really taking the time to listen to all the reviews.Pls keep it up coz we do not have a huge selection of nice cafes in west auckland sad to say but am glad that you are there and be one of West Aucklands dining attraction.
Had a booking for 1pm yesterday for a friend's birthday and the weather was perfect... as was everything else!
The staff were amazing, the food was absolutely delicious and the wine top notch!
Cannot recommend highly enough, thank you Soljans for helping make it a great celebration!
We have been to Soljans twice last year for lunch, the food is fantastic, the venue equally as great. Our daughter loves it there as it is very child friendly. The staff tended not just to our needs but engaged our daughter also. We have since gone on to book Soljans as our wedding venue and we are thoroughly looking forward to it.
Before writing this I read many of the other reviews and I started to wonder if we all visited the same café!
We've been there once or twice a year since it opened, mainly to take overseas guests or visitors for a drive in the country and then for a pleasant lunch.
We usually book and ask at that stage when the best time to come would be so that we avoid any rush time. The wait staff have always been cheerful and helpful, the meals consistently very good and varied, supplemented of course by a quality wine list. The surroundings are also most attractive. Highly recommended.
It's been a long time since our last visit to this nice winery cafe and finally we went there again last June, still great foods, in particular i ordered roasted pork belly, crispy on the outside (skin) yet juicy on the inside.
Our work Social club had a very enjoyable time at Soljans. The venue was well set out and the food was excellent. The staff were very helpful and nothing was a problem. The food was very nice and enough to go back for more. The salads were extra tasty . The desserts very different but still very nice.
We would go back there again in the future.
Four of us had lunch at Soljans.
The food was excellent, we had lamb, chicken, squid and pork based dishes, they had very good flavour and the portions were a medium size (not too small, but not too large either).
We had a bottle of pinot gris for our wine which was very good. The place was fairly busy but our food did not take long at all to be served. I also found the service very good.
Our group of 39 women all voted this restaurant and service as excellent. We were served graciously and with respect shown to our elderly group. We will return and encourage other groups to do so also. Thanks especially to Tony and Kylie.
I had a lovely lunch at this restaurant a few weekends ago. The food was delicious and the setting was relaxing.
I visited with my wife and daughter. We had a really good lunch, very well presented and served by efficient waitress. The restaurant has a vibrant feeling and we were made very welcome. The restuarant was busy and we were in a bit of a rush so appreciated the fast and friendly service.
Fantastic food, fantastic wine, fantastic friendly service, lovely environment! I will definitely be going back here. Highly recommend to all.
I went to Soljans for their October champagne brunch special. Damn, was that some good food and drink! I had the French toast which was a lovely mix of sweet, tangy and savory flavors. Best French toast I have had in a long time! My wife had the eggs Benedict and had a similar level of enjoyment! I would highly recommend a trip out there but beware, you might also end up buying some great wine from their vineyard shop.

I had a lovely afternoon at Soljans Estate Winery 😍
Unfortunately the restaurant was closed 🚫 when I reached, because they only serve breakfast and lunch 🍽 It was quite disappointing, because I've been wanting to come for ages 🙁 I wouldn't think 3pm is too late, but apparently it is
Luckily their cellar door was still open, and I was able to take part in a wine tasting 🍷and a peak in their cellar 👀, so it wasn't a complete bust
The lady was very friendly 😊 and knowledgeable, telling me about 100 year old wines in their cellar that is turned by hand 🤚
I enjoyed the port the most. It's quite sweet, and you can definitely taste the sultanas 🍇
Great food in a great setting! Eveyone enjoyed their meals.
Only gripe is it took nearly an hour from ordering to service and I had chosen an early lunch time hoping to avoid this but was a very big group in as well. Would have appreciated the heads up for delays
Tasty wine including a Pinotage served by warm friendly staff! 👌👍
Absolutely deserving of the 5 stars! On arrival, we were greeted warmly and shown to a table with a beautiful view of the vineyard and vines.
Our entire meal was delicious, but the real standouts were the Gnocchi and the Ćevapčići. We also loved the Trio of wines - with the best Chardonnay I've tried!
We will be back!
Staff were friendly, relaxing environment. We ordered a mix of the small and large plates, all were good to great in taste. Proportion were all reasonable.

Came on the weekend with some friends and had a fabulous time! We were treated to some delicious food (absolutely loved the Vintners Platter, Gnocchi and the beef cheek) and of course, lots of the fusion sparkling rose was had!!
Also really loved the Gewürztraminer and bought some lovely Port for my mum (she really loved this the last time we came!). Really awesome chatting to the staff when looking at the variety of wines as well - so helpful! Thanks Soljans for a great time! Can't beat a good meal with some fab wine out in a lovely setting!
Wine tasting: very knowledgeable and friendly staff talking you through their fantastic wine range.
Restaurant: very efficient and friendly staff; food was fantastic and especially enjoyed the Croatian sausage with mash.
This was a very nice winery. Even better was the service from Tyler, his knowledge and bubbly personality made the experience that much better. We did go mid week. The Port was delicious.
really nice. Food is tasty, wine is amazing, got really sweet memory with my friend today on the last day of my twenties🙊🙉🙈❤️🤍🍀
Wow this place looks amazing. When we were there this landscaping crew were doing the gardens and they looked amazing, the work they were doing was great to. The wine here is good also.
Nice vineyard with lots of spread out seating and a small grassy patch with petanque and a small house for kids. The wine range is great and you can pay 15$ to try three from their menu. They come with a little card so you can take your time and taste and relax
Had a beautiful lunch here!!
Ice coffee to die for!!
The fish was awesome and Eggs Benedict bloody great!!
Oh and great garlic bread too!!
Had a really good experience at Soljans. Loved the wines, especially their Sauvignon blanc and Chardonnay, the food was delicious. The grounds are beautiful, the restaurant itself lacks ambience somewhat, otherwise would have been 5 stars
