When it first started I was not impressed by their limited menu and there were many staffing teething problems. I came back the other day to give them another chance and very glad I did! Beautifully cooked steak and lovely flavours! The ribs were a bit tough though. Nice to have a middle of the road place with decent comfort food near home. Will be back.

Amazing experience. Everyone that served us were lovely and informative. Ask the main host man where his accent came from for some fun ahah, they’re super friendly and don’t take things too seriously (in a good way). A shame I didn’t get any photos, but the food came out so fast and I just wanted to dig in straight away. I had the smoked short rib taco which was amazing, two soft shell double layered tacos with lots of meat in them, super flavourful and filling for just two tacos. A couple bits of meat were a bit fatty so I just picked that out but algood. Then had the deep fried apple pie, the shape reminded me of a homemade version of the Maccas apple pie but 100 times better, puffy pastry and very flavourful apple, every bite bursts with juicy ness a tad oily so if you’re not into very deep fried things it may not be for you, however I still felt good afterwards it didn’t make me feel like other deep fried food makes me feel which was great. Paired with some nice vanilla icecream lovely creamy texture and a chocolate shard. Wasn’t too sweet either which was a bonus.
Some of the other food included the Bro burger which they enjoyed it came with fries which for $15 I think is a great price and the fries were one of the best I’ve had ever! Super fat fries but the inside was so unbelievably soft like they were roasted!?! They weren’t too deep fried looking or tasting either so it didn’t make the burger overpowering. Then the sticky date pudding which was a special instead of the baked Camembert they didn’t have. Really big serving possibly a little too big, was described to come with poached pear and vanilla icecream but was missing both, we got the vanilla icecream in the end though. Never the less it was super yum with bits of thick caramel, came with a sauce to pour over but that made it a bit too sweet for my liking. This is what pulled my score from a 5 to a four I would have like to give 4.5 though. All around would definitely come again possibly for brunch or to bring some others to experience it. Lots of tables and not too loud and giant jenga to play! Super impressed being a new restaurant they have done so well! I can tell they are new not being right on the game but it was busy and they still impressed us more than any older restaurant we’ve been too, I think the authenticity is relatable and nice environment to be in not being a wall between staff and guests as much. So yea long review but I hope it helps anyone having a hard time deciding. I wish well for this place for many years to come :)

Where do you start, I would highly recommend coming here. The staff were absolutely amazing, they were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was presented beautifully and absolutely delicious. One of the best restaurants I have been too. I will be definitely dining here again soon. Great job The Woodsman.

Love the place. A bit small but nothing major to complain about. Ordered the grilled fish for the day (tuna 😍) and was happy with it. It was nice and perfectly cooked, not dry. My father (who also ordered the same) thoroughly enjoyed his meal which was good for someone who’s always complaining about something. They also serve Good George brews, definitely happy for that 👍🏽

The Woodsman Kumeu has Awesome food, Awesome Service, with Lovely Owners. Great rustic interior with a great atmosphere. I Would give it a 10/10 if I could.

I came here with work colleagues after work on a Friday. A nice place to relax. Loved the pallet furniture outside and the funky wallpaper in the washrooms. The food was pretty good and the servers friendly.

Just the perfect place to visit. Foods great atmosphere is excellent and they are dog friendly

Visited here with two others for dinner and enjoyed myself. There is a good selection of drinks, including wine and a few craft beer options. Food was delicious, fresh and well presented. Service was good, though there is room for improvement. We were left waiting to order for around 10 minutes and our request for water was forgotten. Prices aren't cheap, but are fair for the quality with some cheaper options available. No complaints overall though and I look forward to returning and sampling the brunch menu. EDIT: Returned for brunch and loved it. Moved review from 4 stars to 5.

Great food fantastic atmosphere

We went on Sunday to the Woodsman for the first time as part of a very large group for a birthday celebration. Firstly, amazing service. We had three children and each were given some colouring gear and were occupied - we felt relaxed as the kids were entertained. Nice food and fantastic value for money. The man who served us was attentive and helpful and we couldn't fault our visit. Thank you very much! We'll definitely be back.

The food didn't look like a large serving bit it was really filling, I think it was just the presentation which gave it that deception, because I loved it and didn't need any dessert, I ordered the lamb and it was amazing and tender, but within our party others complemented the ribs, steak and pork belly; although most of us didn't have dessert, one of our party did have a sundae and it was beautiful and generously prepared. the bathroom was such and eye opener I loved the wallpaper, but it was pleasing that it was very clean.
