General not bad, really enjoyed my slightly overpriced and under portioned but nicely done Katsudon and tempura sets, the flavor is surprisingly close to the real deal in Japan. My biggest complaint is the limited variety of their menu, seems like half of menu is full with Salmon dishes, and if you
The view is mesmerizing, and that's the first thing I noticed on entering restaurant. Quite a busy place with tourist groups.
Lots of banto boxes options, but we opted the teriyaki salmon and fried chicken on rice. Both taste great, love the soup. We enjoyed our meals.
Love the salmon sashimi and bento! I ordered the Natto Tuna Don, it’s really nice! Sushi was amazing too! Strongly recommended! Definitely recommend reservation first, unless you go in 15 minutes before their closing hours.
I highly recommend the Salmon sashimi or Salmon Don. The Salmon in Lake Tekapo was different from what I usually had back home. The texture and taste were so good that I wanted to order more. I think it was due to the condition and glacier here. Call and book to avoid disappointment.
The dishes were generally well portioned and very fresh with great quality. Had the bento box and although it was more on the pricy side I felt that you get value from the variety of items in it. My only complaint would be that the beer was a little expensive at 20 for a big one. Overall service wa
Mentioned often - and we can confirm - this is one of the best restaurants in the region. It get busy fast so you need to call ahead and book a table if you don’t want to be disappointed.
Great tasty Japanese food - not so much sushi though - but great Don and Tempura dishes. We can recommend the t
Foods is nice, shop is often full, recommend booking in advance.
Always go for their bentos and also beef tataki.
Salmon sashimi is fresh and tender, Kohan Bento includes few slices ofcsalmon sashimi, tempura prawn and fish, a few edamame with a bowl of hot miso soup.
Overall is pretty good just t
Had the Tempura Bento $53.00
Throughly enjoyed it, with a nice Riesling Central Otago. Looking forward to going back.
Awesome Japanese restaurant. Staffs were friendly. Good service. Food were on point. Totally, captured my belly. 😋 would recommend for sure.
One of the few restaurants that are still open at night, Kohan gets packed very quickly and we did have to wait approx 15-20 minutes to get a table later in the night. Soup and tea were very soothing and food was well made, however we found that the portion sizes were very very small so bear in mind
We had take away during our stay. Ordered over the phone without any issues. We had Kohan Bento box and Teriyaki chicken Don. They don‘t include Miso soup for Take away eventhough they charged 33$ for Bento box ( I had to pay extra ). Portion is ok and quality is good.
if you stop by Lake Tekapo, Kohan is a must go. Been here multiple times, and the food never disappoints.
The Kohan Bento (NZD$34) serves up amazing salmon from Mt. Cook, Katsu, Ebi and tamagoyaki among others. It's uncommon to get a taste of Japan in NZ, and definitely rare to get such good qualit
Ended up in Kohan when other option was closed. We're glad we did!!
Wanted a view of the lake, and they gave us a window seat. Food was very good, with a good range of choice. Would recommend.
I’ve eaten out many restaurants before, but I have to say the staff here are the best I have ever seen. They pay attention to every little detail, I went with my partner and they noticed we were sharing food and came over and offered us sharing plates without us asking.
The staff greeted every singl
Katsudon is surprisingly good. Looks like they used pork chop with decent thickness. It is juicy and its sauce is well balanced with appropriate sweetness and savory flavors.
Service is very speedy. The chicken teriyaki and veggie tempura were OK but not really special. Prices are reasonable, especially for a resort area.
