One of the more popular restaurant at Lake Tekapo. Their hot stone steak is quite popular but it’s more for the experience rather than quality of the meat. We ordered 2 ribeye steaks and they were both overdone from what was stated. Lamb rack was good though. The mash potato went very well with the
Great steak on hot stone! Fresh and tasty 👌 I was there with a group of my Polish friends And all of them have positive opinion on Mackenzies. I hope to visit it once again. Thanks!
Our server was very nice.
Polite and welcoming.
Food was also good and the burger made me cry - I was happy to have eaten something so nice.
The tomato soup was also lovely. Nice and tangy, it's no canned stuff ya.
The fish and chips were normal, nothing stood out.
The cook-your-own steak.

I had dinner twice here, the staff was was friendly, always checking if you need anything and the food was very good too.
I had their rib eye steak the first time the steak was not medium cooked but the taste of the whole dish was very good so I decided to have it one more time. The second time the
Excellent food. Ordered the catch of the day, grass fed lamb and high-country stone. The service received was awesome and our friendly waiter Waris really added to the excellent experience and took excellent photos and videos for us in the restaurant. Will recommend to anyone passing by the area to
Absolutely fabulous meal. We went for the Challenge, which is the rump and eye fillet that you cook yourself on a stone grill. It was exquisite; so tender and full of flavour.
Desserts were also amazing, though I would have preferred no nuts in the strudel but that’s on me, not them. The sticky d
We enjoyed "The challenger" sizzling plate which had 2 cuts of beef steak. It was the perfect portion for us and we enjoyed cooking it ourselves.
The veggies and mash were both pretty cold, with the mash being quite lumpy. We were primarily there for the steak though so weren't too dissatisfied.

Would definitely drive to tekapo just for the Creme Brulee 👌🙂
My recent visit to this culinary gem left me in awe of their exceptional offering, and I simply had to share my excitement.
The stone-grilled steak was a revelation. The quality of the meat was impeccable. Each bite was a burst of rich, beefy flavor that left me craving more.
The service was impec
This restaurant truly impressed me! Their coffee is absolutely delightful, with a rich and aromatic flavor that is simply enchanting. The appetizers are equally exceptional, each dish leaving a lasting impression. As for the steak, it's nothing short of amazing - cooked to perfection, tender, and bu
Lovely meal, I’d go out on a limb and say it was the best salmon I’ve ever had! So deliciously melt-in-the-mouth, and serving it on the ratatouille was a nice touch. My husband had stone grill beef and chicken and loved his as well. Very happy, very impressed, if we weren’t going back to Australia t
An awesome stone grill dining experience. We ordered stone grill option and porkbelly. Both meals were delicious good portions. Prices are great too compared to some other restaurants around. Good selection of craft beers and cocktails. Staff was very friendly and service was great. Only feedback wo
I understand that they were busy during the holidays but the staff were intially quite standoffish. They were more welcoming when we were seated and even better when they were starting to close.
As for the food, it was a pretty long wait but boy was it worth the wait! Thank God for that, we were st
After looking for a nice hot soup around the village and not finding many options, we (group of three friends) came across Mackenzies Cafe Bar that was offering a tomato soup as the Soup of the Day! We all decided to have one, and it was absolutely delicious! What a treat with a nice glass of wine!
