Outstanding bakery. Efficient and friendly service. Excellent coffee. We both had the pancakes and they were the best in a long time. Nice bacon and excellent maple syrup. I was not sure about the butterscotch advertised with it, but decided to try it. It was worth it. Portions were large. Very slightly more expensive than some places, but the quality and portions make it good value for money

I loved my first time here, it's my partner's favourite place and it was great Sunday breakfast. Just a reminder to self to say no to bacon on pancake for myself next time. I enjoyed the pancakes and the mocha. My partner loved his morning bagels and coffee.

Beautiful place and really nice staff. I have been a few times and my one sadness about the place is that there are loads of meat options and very few vegetarian, and I think 1 vegan option (so I always end up getting the same thing). They informed me that there are lots of vegetarian options in the morning (and I've always been in the afternoon)... but if there are few veggie options and loads of meat options left in the afternoon, surely that shows that more veggie and fewer meat options would be a good idea? I've heard other customers having the same feeling when I've been there so I think it would be a popular idea 💚

Great quality English breakfast tea, plenty of seating for a busy place - obviously very popular. Loved the quinoa porridge too, not one for those alternative options but was amazed at the flavour. Very happy will be back again thank you

First time here. Unique in it's own style. Had the full fix breakfast. Flavours were Different to what I am usually use to, which makes this place an exception from the rest. Nice food, great place, awesome atmosphere. Definitely be back to try the pastries, pies and other good stuff from bakkerij.

One of our fave cafes in Lower Hutt! Always great coffee, incredible selection of cabinet food! Always busy but good service. Menu food is also good (usually get eggs bene). Must stop in if you're around the Hutt hospital!

Janus Bakery is my favorite cafe in the Lower Hutt. These guys serve consistently great food and coffee. They offer a breakfast menu for dining in the cafe area, or you can also purchase from the bakery cabinet and eat that in the cafe, like I did today. I had a delicious and generous corn fritter served with fries. Also offered with salad as an alternative option, but couldn't resist the fries. Great kicker for brunch, and the coffee was perfect! The bakery cabinet is full of eye watering delicious treats and healthy food options, too. Highly recommend.

Great food (both in the cabinet, and à la carte), but parking can be a bit difficult around lunch time. Can also get pretty loud when the place is full, which is pretty much most of the time. I guess this is a testament to the quality of the place!

Great food and really wide selection is my first impression of Janus Bakkerij walking in the door. It's a big cafe, so no waiting around-- a seat will be free soon enough. The atmosphere is upbeat. Huge selection of savouries and cakes to eat in -- portions are generous -- and first-class large cakes and freshly baked loaves of bread to take away. Try their breakfast bagel -- a classic big breakfast very much elevated and rather than being dense and chewy as is typical, the bagel is light and fresh. The friendly service and very reasonable pricing to boot give it the edge, earning it a well deserved five stars and one of the best cafes in the Wellington region -- and any favourite overall.. Easily worth making the long trip out from Porirua.
