Pork, pickle & mustard pie was a flavour explosion. Definitely gonna have to come back and try some other flavours too. I only stopped in at the caravan so dunno if the restaurant has even more yummy options too, my waistline probably appreciates this ignorance This place seems pretty popular so you probably don't want to be late or the lunch rush might clean them out.

A unique farm style restaurant. Meals are pre-ordered in advance which makes the Cow Shed pretty sustainable. The portions of the food were large and the drink is BYO. We took home a doggie bag for dinner the next night. If you like leaving a place with a warm heart and full stomach, give this a go. Great hosts, lots of vintage memorabilia to browse.

This is a great little restaurant, run by a lovely local family. The food was great, as was the service. We finished the evening with the chef joining us for glass of wine and a chat, which highlights how the place is friendly and down to earth. Pro tip; Ask about their meat pies that you can take home and enjoy - they are fantastic too. P.s. It’s BYO, so dust off that good wine and take a long to enjoy with friends.

Went here for my partners dad's 60th, big group of us and they accommodated so well! No one went without anything and no effort spared on their part. Huge servings of food! Awesome staff. Really enjoyed it :)

Great vibe at the cow shed. Staff are amazing, friendly and seeing a generational restaurant delivering such great food is just awesome. We had a large group so they organized shared plates. Roast cauli, baked potatoes, steak, lamb, chicken and pork and a delicious fresh salad/coleslaw.

Local products and an authentic and unpretentious restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and we were very well received. The dishes are all excellent and based on fresh home-grown products. A rare gem.

I’d like to be able to score the restaurant a 6 - it’s really well done. A simple menu, perfectly cooked and in lovely surroundings. The staff are very welcoming and it’s always nice to meet the owners of a good place. Bring your own drinks and start out in the garden with a few nibbles. Then inside and the main course for me was steak and it was the best I’ve ever had. Tasty sides and more than enough to eat. Apple crumble with cream to finish and some great lemonade to go with everything. Plenty of parking and the journey goes through beautiful countryside. A prefect 6.

Was the best place in Northland for a feed or a fab experience with Sam's grazing menu on a Sunday lunchtime. Will be forever missed

Great food, if you are a meat eater this is the place with generous servings. The couple that run it are lovely, it's cosy and quirky plus BYO! An awesome place to dine with friends, definately go if you're in the area.

Perfectly cooked old school farm fare in a unique environment. Great hosts and a really sustainable ethos too. Left with a warm heart and a full stomach. Original all round and that's really hard to find. Cheers :)

Amazing restaurant in the middle of nowhere like a little hidden gem. Down to earth, friendly staff and some of the best cooked meats you'll find anywhere for dinner - bring an appetite!!! Lunches are awesome too, superb milkshakes and bottomless french press coffee. Will be back.

Oh my, do try the Cow Shed Restaurant and at this time of year, the Pop Up Cafe. Not only is the food incredible - both restaurant and cafe - (I've been several times and my dad insists on a visit when he's over from Australia), but they use metal straws and store their food in pyrex rather than plastic. What a joy to have amazing food and environmentally conscious staff. They are the real deal. Rare to see excellent delivery of the three parts of what I consider most important in hospitality: a) such amazing customer service; b) bespoke, contemporary food with a twist; c) sustainability culture.

The Cowshed has a pop up cafe throughout January. We went for brunch. It's a quirky place with a decor that speaks of the places the owners have travelled to. The food is delicious wholesome fare with an unexpected twist. My corn fritters came with a dressing of toasted olives. Heartily recommended for a casual brunch. The evening restaurant follows in the delicious wholesome vein and doggy bags are encouraged as the servings are huge. Yum.

In the middle of nowhere and completely charming. The owners aee staff are lovely. The food is fantasic and the portions are very generous. You can take B.Y.O and you are not charged for it. The lovely thing about this place is there is no internet so you have to talk to each other. The grounds are also fabulous. Enjoy. We certainly did.
