Came here in the afternoon around 1 and they seemed to be nearly closing but was still able to grab some food from the cabinet. My chicken wrap was delicious, definitely rate the sauces inside. Frittata was also a hit and love the atmosphere, the staff were friendly too.
A couple of breakfasts during the week. Accomplished and light handed (rather than the heavy big breakfast plate that too many places indulge). A bit much salt in the spinach ... but that’s sadly a universal cafe quibble. Plume is good. It’s very good. But the real bonus was the service. Friendly, warm, prompt and no faux grovelling. Really excellent.
Loved this place. A shame it was just a quick stop. Amazing food ,roast chicken salad roll was delish and pear pastry. Service was super friendly and fast.
A cozy, heart warming cafe. Amazing food, good services. My dads omelette came late, they offered us a free cappuccino, on the house, so kind. Would recommend it. Perfect on a rainy day.
We stopped here on a Saturday about a week ago after our attempt to go to the markets which we didn't quite get to because of the rain. But we were happy to have stopped here for breakfast and some pastries.
The set up is really nice and it's pretty neat how they have the working bakery at the back that you can see.
Although hubby had a hard time getting anyone's attention the first time (I sent him in by himself to do a re-con before I dragged the two kids out of the car in the rain), when we all went in together we had no problem getting the attention of staff and they remained attentive during our service.
Overall we were happy with the food, our eggs Benedict, almond crossiant and plum dartois (?) and happy with the strong coffee we had. Miss Four loved dipping the Turkish bread in the hollandaise sauce and Miss One just ate everything.
A kid friendly place and a nice Cafe to relax.
This Mama is Hangry no more! Thanks guys from the international travellers :-)
Had an absolutely delicious lunch here yesterday! Came back today to grab some fresh bread for lunch as well. Everything we ordered was delicious, service was lovely and my coffee was perfect. Would highly recommend the Eggplant schnitzel, it was incredible! And a cherry tart with your coffee, beautiful and authentic.
Popped in for lunch today with my girlfriends. I had the Spiced Calamari salad so did my friend. Wow was absolutely delicious. Very generous with the Calamari. Other friend had the Seafood Chowder. Said it was lovely but could of been a little hotter. Coffee were great. Definitely will be back.
First visit to this cafe today after many years of driving through Matakana. What a lovely surprise! Friendly and welcoming despite being really busy we sat down to a wonderful brunch and steaming hot coffees. The wood fire gave a cosy feeling and the food was pronounced excellent by all hands! I so cannot wait to go back and already plan to try the mouthwatering danishes and pastries.
Always happy with my $7 Ham Sandwich and my Allpress Soy Latte. Service is so attentive. All the staff show great initiative. Very reliable. Clean tables and chairs. Thanks team your doing a great job!
Good food and relatively quick service staff are very rushed and busy looking and come across rude/forgetful at times, obviously not intended to be rude but need to work on their customer service other than that it's a nice place to get lunch if you don't mind a little bit of a wait
We ordered the the Belgian waffles (with mascarpone cream and berries), soup of the day (pumpkin) and the pear dartois from the cabinet. I would highly recommend the waffles, with the maple syrup and mascarpone being to die for. The missus thought the soup was average but the dartois being very nice.
Overall a great experience with a family friendly atmosphere.
They close the kitchen at 2:30 on most days :). Get your order in before then
Had a nice brunch here with my partner a couple of weekends ago, mid August 2016. Cute place, but I will agree with other reviewers below it did lack a little "warmth and ambiance" inside the cafe itself. We were glad to get their early around half 9, as the place filled up fast... but we had a pick of tables which was great. The owner or main chef was a good laugh at the counter and the options on the menu were varied which offered a good selection. I chose the vegetable fritters with my partner opting for eggs bene; luckily his sauce came on the side, as it's really wasn't very nice for a hollandaise at all. My fritters were great, loved the salsa, salad, bacon and mini hash browns I requested especially to help me nurse my hangover from a party the night before! ;) There was no OJ, or other fresh or bottled juice options due a supplier change (other than grape juice), so hopefully that has been rectified as it was a bit disappointing. Overall I enjoyed my meal, though my partner felt his eggs bene needed work, and it was a very petite serve on muffins with to be honest, not a lot of bacon side! We would go back to Plume Cafe and give them another go, and I would certainly like to try some of their freshly made breads... which seemed to be doing a roaring trade!
I have often driven past plume on the way to matakana kitchen for Breky but one day a few months ago decided to give it a try for something different.
This place has it all... Even an onsite bakery. The bakery items alone are worth making this a daily visit while up in Omaha.
I had the omelette, and my wife had the corn fritters both of which among the best I've had. (For the second time from here)
The above plus 2 green teas $41, not cheap but I really feel worth the price.
Service was excellent. Will be back
Always great value if you have a voucher. The (German) waiter's manner took a little getting used to but he did his job well. Lovely setting and great food and wine. Treat yourself!
Service was slow for a saturday lunch but surroundings were pleasant. Eggs benedict was very good with salmon in ample quantity. A fish of the day with gurnard quite good. So overall a bit laid back service wise is ok if you have all day.
Neat cafe with plenty of seating indoors as well as outdoors with a pretty garden area and a walkway towards Matakana markets. I enjoyed my stay and the kumara chips were lovely (see picture), if not a tad overpriced at $16... I couldn't see any regular potato options which is a shame. The rest of the menu and the bread looks interesting -- would come back to try more :)
Back for a second time. Cool day, unlike the warmth inside this cafe. Eggs Benedict excellent, large flat white fresh and satisfying. Nice ambience inside and service prompt and efficient. This is a top notch cafe and a true New Zealand experience. You, like me, will be back!
Came here on a long weekend therefore it’s not gonna reflect their daily business. Everything was sold out but I don’t blame them. Despite long weekend, the service and food was still good. It is definitely a place for families so do expect noise and movements. But they got a big garden and would be nice on a sunny day.
My first visit to Matakana and I'm so glad this was my first stop. Me and my sister shared an eggs bene and regretted later why we each didn't order our own. It was beautiful. The hollandaise tasted homemade and it came on the side. The ambience is great boasting a large courtyard and peaceful atmosphere. Sadly, the bakery next door was closed but would have loved to seen what the ugh could conjure up. Already have plans to enjoy this delightful cafe on the weekend. Thank you for existing!
Served some really nice food, loved their tarts, base is so light and buttery. Outdoor sitting and friendly staff

We really enjoyed dining here. We ate in for breakfast after seeing the Matakana markets and we were very impressed! Friendly staff and delicious meals 😊 Love the addition of having pork belly with the eggs benedict and the use of local ingredients. Can't wait to try the pastries next time-they looked amazing
Stopped here for Brunch with My parents , The staff are super friendly , we ordered alot of food haha and it all came out in good time
Both my parents meals came out missing bacon but when the manager was made aware he not only bought out 2 plates of bacon but also a free coffee for my mum!!! Very good service and a great morning had
Nice coffee, nice venue.
It appeals to me more than the Matakana Market (sorry:-( ), so often sit here while others check out the market.
Give it a try!
Great atmosphere and very friendly, attentive staff. Coffee and food was good. It would have been five stars, however I can't get my head around having nachos in the middle of the "big breakfast"
Amazing place, really good vibes. Had the best oysters ever. Friendly staff and good outdoor seating options.
Great service, lovely outdoor eating area, dog and child friendly. Coffees could have been a bit hotter
We found Plume Café while travelling to Whangaparaora. The atmosphere here is really nice and the staff is friendly and welcoming. We had a cappuccino and a cake that was delicious. Definitely recommended for a cozy stop!
Really great atmosphere and vibe in here. Beautiful coffee and "morning tea" selection. Was exactly 💯 what I was after this morning
Cute little café with a lovely garden. Coffee is good as well. The rooster in the garden is hilarious though 😆
Nice and cute cafe, good food and environment. Has a little pathway that goes down to the markets which are very close by which was nice.
Right from location to parking, food and coffee this cafe offers great experience. We ordered Eggs Benedict and Omelette. Both dishes were made to perfection. The Malay host( must be the manager) came twice to ask us about food and later if we needed anything. We were impressed because normally it’s not a cafe culture. Coffee was nice. There were some sourdough and French breads on shelves. Don’t forget to buy if they sell it because the bread with our eggs were really soft, chewy and full of flavour. Enjoy your time at Plume next time you are in Matakana!
Really friendly service and delicious food in the heart of Matakana village!
