Lovely coffee served in with the cutest cultery and cups. Beautiful cafe layout and I've never been served with such friendly cafe staff! Such a good find!
Random walk in for a cup of weekend afternoon coffee. Love the Christmas paint and yellow tone cup and coffee machine.
Really, really good food!! Recently left a lot cafes with the feeling of ânothing specialâ but we left this one, with the complete opposite feeling! We ordered the Morning Taco, criscut fries and the Avo-mame on toast. I think the next time we go, weâll have trouble deciding ordering something new or getting the same. Definitely be returning!
Bright and welcoming interior matched by breezy service. Good flight coffee and delicious eggs bene. A great choice in Milford. Looking forward to returning.
FROM A STUDENT POINT OF VIEW
Price: 3/5
Service: 4/5
Food (Taste): 4.5/5
Food (Size): 4.5/5
Summary: I went here with my partner, and we both got the Eggs in hell (they added bacon) and shared a super grain smoothie, we both found the food to be amazing and we would absolutely come back here! However for a student budget it may not be the most friendly place (but don't worry, it isn't at all close to 'Break the bank' price XD)
Positives:
- Very friendly staff
- Meals came out at a good time
- It has a really small, comfy and cutesy atmosphereÂ
Negatives:
- The pricing is fair however for a student it can be seen as a tad on the expensive end (HOWEVER their cabinet food is pretty good price)
Wow - Kara is hands down the best cafe in Auckland that I've been to.Â
I stopped going to cafes years ago (other than to pick up coffee) as I find the food unadventurous and overpriced. So Kara has been a bit of a revelation.
The family and staff that run it - they are super genuine nice people...
The menu is great - awesome variety of tasty food and not the usual boring options you get at most cafes. Great vegetarian options too.
If you want a crowded, boring and overpriced place, there are plenty of other souless places that you can go to around Milford, Takapuna and the North Shore.Â
If you want somewhere with a nice relaxing atmosphere, nice staff and tasty original food, go to Kara! Support these guys :)
A cute cafe tucked between shops! Lovely âgradenâ area out the back. Nice and quiet with free wifi to get some work done! Delicious food and great coffee.
Hands down my favourite cafe on the Shore! They have some of the best coffee in town (soft brew, flat white, Americano - take your pick!). Our favourite dishes are the Grandma kimchi fritter, prawn dumpling, poke bowl, and eggs benny. Everything is delicious and different than every other cafe in Auckland! Finally! The staff are always nice and friendly and the food comes out pretty fast. For the past few months we have gone at least 2 times a month.
Went here for brunch. I got the Ham & Pineapple Jaffle, gf got the Avo-mame on toast. I enjoyed the Jaffle but the Avo-mame on toast was hands down the best combination of flavours, textures and variety that just worked together so well (gluten free as well). My girlfriend agrees. Absolutely delicious. Also, not as hectic as the other cafes in the area. Owner is super chilled and friendly, great warm atmosphere and really cute private area at the back.
Interesting little cafe! I was pleasantly surprised with the variety of food they had and i would definitely come back here again. Their prawn dumpling soup was amaaaazing!
I was really impressed with this meal. I ordered the âeggs bennyâ with bacon and it came with 2 eggs, a piece of sourdough toast, an agria rosti, lemon hollandiase, and a smear of beetroot purĂ©e. All elements were perfectly executed, the eggs runny and the bacon crisp, but my favourite element of the dish was the agria rosti. Too often you get a rosti and it is too soft and mushy (gross) or alternatively is a deep fried hash brown (very acceptable) but this one has amazing agria flavour and was so perfectly crisp. The beetroot purĂ©e was the perfect accompaniment to the meal as it cut though the richness.
If I had to add any constructive criticism it was be that maybe it would have been good to have a slightly bigger slice of toast as I felt I ran out quite quickly. Also the cutlery wasnât super sturdy and bent as soon as I used it haha.
Will be returning!
Always walked past the place but decided to walk in today. Beautiful deco, nice use of space. Perfect place to visit after a short walk along the Milford shops.
GREAT CAFĂ TO TAKE PICS đ
The bagel was bombbbbb đđđ (bit pricy though)
Iâm a fan of matcha and got matcha latte but it was not sweet at all which isnât common because whenever I go to other cafĂ©s for matcha latte itâs usually sweeter. Plus if you see the picture the matcha powder is somehow lumped together at the top so when you take the first few sips it was quite powdery đ
Loved the decor at Kara, its quite small but feels very spacious and theres a courtyard out the back, I ordered a Hot Chocolate and a Half sized Eggs Benny. They were both delicious with great presentation. The staff are very friendly and accomadating.
Nice environment and friendly staff - gave my daughter a candy cane thanks đ
My daughter loved the Kids Pancake and Yuzu Honey Tea.
Coffee is good but if it was a little stronger, it would have been better (I would add an extra shot next time).
Friendly & warm staff, good coffee & food (though the sourdough slice was overly toasted so it was too hard). Loved the ambience too, good choice of cafe music & not too loud.

Jamie, Sally and staff are lovely with well priced, consistently good food and coffee.
This cosy little cafe is a hidden jem, being one of my top 10 favourite cafés.
KARA continues to feed my addictions 3 of which can't be found anywhere as good!
Hot lemon, honey yuzu. If I order something similar anywhere else it's a let down.
The simple club sandwich, crusts cut off, fresh white bread, tuna & secret mix of love.
Prawn dumpling soup, it makes my day shine, no matter the weather.
Even when I'm staying in Grey Lynn, I will drive to Milford just for my fix!

Delicious big breakfast! Possibly the best Iâve had on the shore! It came with everything Iâd want on a breakfast with homemade baked beans, a potato rosti, perfectly cooked eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tasty sausages and just overall amazing! My friend got the smashed avomamae, panna cotta muesli and orange juice which came together as one dish, for anybody who canât decide between sweet and savoury! Would definitely recommend KARA! Friendly table service!
We love this place so much! The staff are so lovely, always amazing service and the food is delicious! Definitely a Sunday brunch fav for us!

Cute little cafe, great coffee and yummy vegan carrot muffin. Nice ambience & Friendly staff too
Kara is a great place to dine for lunch/morning tea. Really great coffee and date scones to die for. Cabinet food is great and menu items are delicious. Unfortunately with the sign if the times occasionally the kitchen is not open.
The team are efficient and friendly.. Enough said.
