Dinner service & food was excellent. Our waiter rattled off information on specials and knew what was in each dish. Attentive service with drinks and checking on us with just enough frequency. Food was delicious, highly recommend the lamb croquettes & the evening special of sushimi tuna salad we were too full for dessert unfortunately (our eyes were bigger than our tummys) so a waiter made a suggestion and we finished with a delicious espresso martini. Yum!

Went for dinner, food was gorgeous, warmly welcomed and staff very attentive......though perhaps a bit too much. We felt a bit rushed to make menu choices within a minute or two of being given menus and asked for more time three times. We were fed and out within an hour so don't feel we were dallying too much. However staff were gracious and obliging. We would go back again.

Was in Napier for the week and visited Mr Ds 3 times!! The donuts are heavily and such a cool novelty :) But my favourite was a terrine, pate and duck plate for lunch with freshly baked crusty bread and the creame brulee was out of this world. Had a lovely male English waiter who looked after us to a t. Especially as it was very busy over Queens Birthday weekend. You have got to try this fabulous restaurant

Absolute must do in Napier! Doughnuts with a syringe fix is not for the faint of heart, totally worth it! BUT also other options for those who have a different way of eating, terrific service and I had two coffees In the one seating.

We were expertly guided by a very knowledgeable waiter towards our drinks and the most delicious scallop ceviche and lamb croquettes........the chef happily chatted about the ingredients of his exquisite peach chutney. Highly recommend.

Wandered in on a trip to Napier and was lucky enough to get a seat at the bar for dinner. Lovely staff, amazing food and reasonably priced for the quality. Drinks seemed a little expensive but also understandable for the size of the wine list. Highly recommended!

Wonderful menu and extensive wine list . Had the fish in a bag which was swordfish tonight . Others had silver farms beef fillet which was also excellent. Special D donuts with the alcoholic injections are unique. Fantastic service too .

Absolutely loved our experience, my father in law is a repeat visitor but it was our first time and WOW. We've been out a few times this year and Mr Ds was definitely top 3 experience, food and flavour wise. Every dish was perfect, the flavour, the texture. All our mains were delicious (we all had a try of each), the duck was crispy, the beef tender, the bone marrow ravioli was delicious. Absolutely recommend the salad and their in house vinegarette (we purchased some bottles as it was that good) and the octopus was so tender. The staff were all a delight, fun, and informative including the chef. Juliette was a star. Thanks again guys. Highly recommended

High quality beautiful food and service, worth every dollar you pay. Staff were attentive and accommodating, happy to add an extra Ox Cheek Croquette to my starter dish to make it a more substantial meal. Cocktails are yum as well and the injectable doughnuts are heavenly, with your choice of filling.

We dined here last week and had such a fantastic meal. We had the sashimi salad and pumpkin soup to start, I don’t know if it is because it is a quiet day or their usual, but the portions were MASSIVE - we probably didn’t really need mains, but I was very happy to have got the Gruyère soufflé - and forced myself to finish it because it was so good. My daughter had the eggplant thingy which is just a symphony of flavour and texture combo. They also served complimentary ciabatta. Great drinks options. Service was efficient and friendly. Thank you for a outstanding experience

Possibly the best meal I have ever eaten. The Paua and pork meatballs were astoundingly good. Superb service - great team. Very big meals. The 'snacks' were a meal themselves. Savoured every bite!

Cheesy Eggs for her and the Smoked Fish Hash for me were the orders of the day - chuck in some extra toast, a couple of flat whites and call it breakfast. The place was busy but we'd come at the brunching hour so no surprises. Our server was Sara ... she had quite a big section to get through but she was quick and friendly. We ordered coffee, chose food and enjoyed the noise. There were a few kids and babies and large groups of diners. A testament to the quality of their food and service. Our meals arrived and I immediately had food envy and wished I'd ordered cheesy eggs too. My hash was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside with the perfect balance of smoked fish to potato - poached eggs and brown butter hollandaise it was delicious! The cheesy eggs were ... cheesy, gooey and everything I knew it was going to be. Thick pieces of sourdough toast to mop up the sauce and it all smelt divine. The experience wasn't without issue. My wife found herself chewing on a fairly decent sized piece of cling wrap probably used to hold the egg as it cooked. You only have to look around to see that the probability of this happening is rarer then hens teeth. Everything we saw coming out of the kitchen was consistently beautiful. Everyone around us had beautifully plated food. So the 5 stars isn't for the food which is definitely a Napier 'must go' you won't regret it and like us, you'll drop by everytime you're in town. It is for the service. Sara and Deepak - you were both amazing and we appreciated the care and professionalism you showed. Thank you. EDIT: Another visit and we decided to try something different. Corn fritters for her and smoked fish hash for me. No regrets!

We turned up without a reservation on a Wednesday evening and were fortunate to get the last table available. The food was delicious! Well presented, both food and restaurant, and an option for vegans too. Recommend a visit, although you probably should reserve in advance.

I went twice , first For breakfast and other to lunch, I loved the options for breakfast, the gluten free toast is the best I ever taste! they had such amazing options for vegan/gluten free people. yesterday I went for lunch and for me the options were more restrict, I had grilled vegetables with chickpeas , it was really good and the only option for vegan/gluten free people. if you have food restrictions like me, I recommend the breakfast/ brunch. if you eat meat and gluten you’ll be in heaven. the place is charming, the staffs are friendly, I loved this place

Mister D was a great place for me and my family to get some lunch. The food has great presentation and good flavour, the atmosphere is great as it provides a 1980s feeling, and the service is amazing. For some reason they fill your cup with water very consistently which is really cool, and they are always willing to help you.

Having gone for both lunch and breakfast. I can say both menu options are amazing. The restaurant is perfectly curated with amazing food and theme of the restaurant. With both indoor and outdoor eating it makes for a great summer lunch or a winter dinner. The cocktail menu has been carefully created to offer amazing cocktails. With a large selection of wine and craft beer available as well. If you are looking for a great coffee then this is a great place to stop and get it. Their hot chocolates are yummy for those who don’t drink coffee, they also come with in-house made marshmallow. If you are needing a place to go then I would highly recommend stopping hear.

Mister D is a MUST VISIT when in Napier. It’s cool, funky and has a great vibe. The service is good, even while they were under the pump on a very busy weekend. The food; went for breakfast, and it was great. A quick watch out is that they don’t do scrambled eggs. Good Ciabatta toast, fried eggs were cooked perfectly, bacon was delicious, great coffee. The donuts - they are amazing, dusted with sugar and cinnamon they are hot and delicious. Tried with and without a ‘shot’ of home made flavouring to be injected into the donut. Both were amazing.

An absolutely delightful dining experience! I had the pleasure of enjoying their Sashimi salad and the unique pork and paua meatballs. The blend of flavors in each dish was nothing short of extraordinary. Staff were incredibly attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere had a cozy charm, and the selection of beverages perfectly complemented the meal. Mister D is definitely a must-visit for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. Can't wait to return!
