We came close to close on a sunday night and were astounded by the banquet we got in the Combo for 3 meal. Got some upgrades for the chefs special, flavoured naan and extra lassis, but overall, great value for price. The samosas and chicken tikka were 🤌🏽 The ambiance is ok - clean, quiet, furnishing is well maintained. The staff checked in on how our meal was going mid meal which was nice since we ordered so late. Just note their hot is a milder hot, looking forward to trying more of their curries!

Restaurant very clean and tidy. Naans are massive, and butter chicken had amazing flavour. Only let down was that the chicken was quite dry and chewy, maybe it was chicken breast, but seems overcooked. Would definitely give 5 stars otherwise. Will try again.

The butter chicken was really really good, the cheese and garlic naan bread wasn't as cheesy as I had hoped but it was still really good. Probably the best butter chicken I have tried locally. Atmosphere wasn't amazing because it was so cold but we got our food to take away so that didn't bother me too much.

Had a butter chicken at lunchtime today and asked for it to be hot rather than the usual mild... OMG it was perfect blend of flavour with zing. Garlic naan was best ever. I will always order butter chook, hot as, 7from now on. Thank you for continuing to make the best food in Hawkes Bay...

The staff are lovely. They do the best onion bhaji with plum sauce. And rich, sweet, tomatoey butter chicken. They also give free poppadoms sometimes, which we are very grateful about.

It got to be the mild butter chicken for me it the best I've had so far, I've tried a lot of butter chicken but nothing like there's.

Finally tried this place and was pleasantly surprised! Inexpensive, quality home cooked Indian food. My favorite was the Garlic Naan, super light, fresh and fluffy. Poppadoms were good. We had the non vegetarian starter, which was all meat! Delicious Red sizzling Chicken with the green sauce, the lamb roll thing I wasnt such a fan of. I would normally go for a Butter Chicken but we tried their Saag Paneer (Spinach and Cheese) mild, and the Chicken Dhansak (a Persian curry dish). Both were good, very tasty and dishes COME WITH RICE! Very reasonable prices. Definitely wanna go back to try everything else on the menu! .

Went to an Italian restaurant two weeks ago and they were playing soft 80s music. It was so nice sitting down at Spice Hut and hearing (what sounded like to me) authentic Indian music. Menu is relatively standard, but there were a couple of dishes I have not seen before (or often enough to remember). Really beautiful welcoming smile and service. The Paneer curry was creamy, and the medium hot spices didn't kill the flavour. Spice Hut isn't a 5 Star dining experience, but with excellent service, tasty curries, and medium-sized meals at 13-17$, it's excellent value for money. Will definitely return and try the Achari Chicken!

We fount Spice Hut by chance today, because we went to the supermarket next door. We had a Daal dish and Butter Chicken, both were excellent. The restaurant is very clean and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our order was cooked quickly and was excellent. We noticed that three Indian gentlemen on the next table also enjoyed their food, I guess that means it is authentic :) We highly recommend Spice Hut Tamatea
