Excellent place to relax and unwind after a day skiing or hiking. The food is delicious and well prepared, and the service cordial and professional. They have a good selection of New Zealand wines and beers. There is a wood burning fireplace next to a few couches — warning: sit there with a glass of wine and you won't want to leave.
We had such a great experience here. The ambiance is perfect, our table can see snow mountain on top. The food is a pleasure, not very special but just yummy. We came at a very busy dinner time, but the service is prompt and friendly.
Thanks spiral restaurant for giving us the good carbs and protein after the tongariro alpine crossing! I enjoyed my beef burger which had all the essentials especially pickles!! My friend demolished the butter chicken and that's a rarity for her. Staff were attentive and considerate. Also enjoyed a post dinner hot chocolate which kept us warm for the rest of the cold night! Thankyou!
We had a family dinner at this place for 7 pax . Has to come in and get a table for reservation due to influx of guests. We were called less than an hour that a table for us has been available. A bit pricey though and no parking space available. Staff were great on their customer service skills. Will recommend this place when in Ruapehu.
Back again to stay in the hotel and had buffet breakfast.
Casual pub style dining with a simple menu, uncomplex dishes but something for everyone. Kiwi tucker. Staff were busy yet friendly and helpful, willing to accommodate our large group. Couldn't fault the food, tasty, fresh and quick. Recommend the lamb shanks and the salad. Kids meal (nuggets in photo) was quite generous.
A warm place very charming with an amazing view on the Tongariro. Waiters are very kind and helpful. Thanks for the evening
Wasn’t a hotel guest but had breakfast and dinner here. Breakfast is typical hotel style buffet, was good. Was pleasantly surprised how good the curry was at dinner. Staff seemed a bit overwhelmed but did their best. Nice set up too with a fireplace in the middle.
It's probably the only restaurant in the National Park village. Staff were attentive and very friendly. It's a nice environment. Craft beer was really nice for $11... unfortunately the beef burger $28 was terrible. Low quality bread came so hard that was difficult to cut it. Chips were good and it's a generous portion.
We have had a great experience in the Spiral restaurant: I took the crispy noodle with beef and my partner took a burger. We both have enjoyed our meals. My salad had a decent amount of beef cubes, nicely cooked. Cherry tomatoes and salad were fresh. Dressing was not spicy, which was really nice. I decided to share my experience as I have seen a few controversial reviews from other people and was doubting myself whether we should go there. But since there is not much choice around National Park, we still decided to go and greatly enjoyed it. I hope my review will help someone 🙂
Such a great place and so close to the ski fields. Our waitress was so polite and great with the kids, we had a fantastic time.
A perfectly warm meal to complement an evening freeze. A seasonal menu choice and we opted for the shank and pasta. The lamb shack had depth, richness and a sauce to supplement a perfectly portioned mash. Similarly the Pasta was well cooked, light and fresh. Good service from the team and a very efficient kitchen. Highly recommend!
