I loved it!!! A nice place to feel connected to Spain in NZ! The seafood paella was so nice, with no fishy taste (which I do not mind - but some people do). The lentils soup was very tasty. The wine selection is amazing, perhaps more Spanish wines would be cool. The dulce de leche dessert was very yummy. The staff are super helpful and the prices are reasonable.

I loved the ambience and decor of casita Miro. It’s like a little hidden paradise on waiheke. The food was all great and reasonably priced. Loved the drinks list too. The only reason for 4 and not 5 was just a slight lack of wow factor/ innovation. Nothing blew my mind. However, I would definitely come back as I still loved the food.

When you visit Casita Miro to dine, you don't just come for a lunch. You come for a long, leisurely afternoon experience. I'd highly recommend booking a table if you're on a romantic Waiheke weekend away, or wanting a noteworthy celebration with close family or friends, and making pretty much a full day of it. My parents, partner and I certainly did, and it's a meal that will long stay etched in our dining memory! Opt for the set menu and let the chef and wait staff look after you. Sample a few different wines that are local/home grown and recommended to go with your food, and then either settle for a bottle of something a wee bit different or go on an exploratory journey glass by glass. The fact that the restaurant is set on a vineyard doesn't make it stuffy or super fancy. In fact, the dining area is very relaxed and comfortable, with gorgeous views. Food wise, everything comes out in its own time, and you are treated to classic seafood dishes, salads, paella, and churros, plus more interesting treats in between. The staff are more than willing to adapt for dietary requirements and there's a great social, inclusive vibe with conversations striking up amongst diners, wait staff and wine tasters all over the room. You will not regret a booking here - I just really hope you're not the designated driver for the day!

Easily one of the best restaurants in Auckland. The food is spectacular and the service is friendly and professional. The atmosphere is also amazing, you feel transported to Spain instantly. Awesome to see more gluten free, dairy free and even vegan options on the menu too

Had a two-day escape in Waiheke and chanced upon this vineyard at lunch time. Place was packed but we managed to get a table. Decided to get the fiesta menu for $85 pp with appetiser, entrée, mains and dessert to share. Wines are not part of the menu so have to order separate. Food was fantastic, the wait staff was knowledgeable of great wines to offer, and the place was lively. Overall was a very good experience. Personal favourites would be the platter and the paella and the churros with the dark chocolate mixed with a sweet red wine is amazing. A well deserved 5*.

Lovely Spanish style mosaic work on the outside bar. Lovely entrance as well. I enjoyed how this winery was a hidden treasure it seemed. Stumbling upon this winery was wonderful. We could not have had a better time here and enjoyed our flights.

Beautifully decorated tapas restaurant with the freshest ingredients. Seafood was amazing, oysters were shucked from the island itself, prawns and squid were perfectly cooked. However, the octopus and the fish in the paella were overcooked - would have otherwise rated a 5. The highlight for me was the garlic butter prawns, I could easily have a plate of that and continue dipping my bread in the sauce. Gorgeous flavours. Service was awesome, knowledgeable and friendly.

What an amazing place! The setting was beautiful, the food was very tasty, the service was tentative and friendly, and the wine went down a treat. My favorite would be the Pulpo a la Gallega (octopus- it was cooked perfectly, very tender), goats cheese croquettas (melt in your mouth ecstasy, we had to get extra servings), and the white wine sangria. While you are there, make sure to do the wine tasting!

This place is so charming, and the staff are wonderful. We had a booking for 10 people for a birthday and had the Fiesta Menu. The food was just amazing. The staff were attentive, polite and super accommodating for the larger group. Though it was busy, they never left us waiting. The staff were phenomenal and never missed a beat. Just how your staff should be!

The wine selection is fantastic, and we ended up leaving with a couple of cases of one of your beautiful Spanish wines. We will definitely return! Thank you for such a great day. Your service was second to none.

Went there on a weekday for lunch. We did not make a reservation and we had to sit at the counter. A very popular place for lunch to ensure a good table, it is best to make a prior reservation. Excellent quality food, good service and beautiful view.

Decided to go to a new winery on the island for a change and headed to Casita Miro.
If you are using public transport, this one is probably not so highly recommended as you’ll find the the hike up to the winery will be quite challenging.
We found this Spanish restaurant extremely busy even though it was a weekday but managed to be seated inside.
We ordered three small dishes and the White Sangria. We found all three dishes very tasty and flavoursome. The Sangria was extremely refreshing especially after the hike! The views are absolutely stunning and the staff are very friendly. Although it was busy, we were never left waiting. Would definitely recommend and I’ll definitely be returning!!!

What a delightful place for tapas! My partner and I recently visited Casita Miro while on holiday and thought the food was fantastic. The homemade bread was crispy yet light and soft in the middle. The prawns and calamari in harissa sauce I thought was a clear standout, I haven’t had this before and was pleasantly surprised how good it is! The seafood was cooked to perfection. The churros had a crunchy outside and soft oozy inside. The chocolate sauce was nice and thick which I loved! Only minor feedback would be the dips could have been better, other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here. Great tapas!

Getting across to Waiheke is an absolute treat and there are loads of places and wineries to choose from to eat. I was recommended Casita Miro and it was hands down the best part of our day on the island!

Start off your lunch with a lovely wine tasting if you want to extend your afternoon..

Goats Cheese Croquetas with flaked almonds and honey to start - I could have eaten 10 more of them, absolutely divine!
Pork Belly that was tender, juicy and the best part CRISPY...

One of my best meals in Auckland thus far!

had a great weekend at waiheke island ending with a delicious lunch a casita miro - highly recommended!!
we enjoyed a few different tapas: broccolini, carrots (not pictured), chorizo croquettes and falafel.
to share we had the roasted pork belly - quite possibly the best roast pork belly i have tried. the crackle was crispy and no uncooked fat. the broth it was in was also really nice.
i had a whole pitcher of white sangria, and the dessert was crème brûlée.
pre-booking is a must, we had a perfect seat in the sunlight overlooking the vineyard. a perfect mediterranean/spanish experience right here in new zealand.

After arriving on the island, we decided to go here on a whim and made a call for the reservation. Fortunately, we got one of their last tables. We went there and thoroughly enjoyed the place and the food.

We had their white sangria, thick Spanish hot chocolate, spiced Spanish sausage with bread, seafood paella, and pomegranate roasted carrots. The host came to talk to us while serving the food and the waitresses were helpful and nice as well. It was a delicious meal.

What a hidden gem! Never thought I'd find such an amazing place like Casita Miro in the middle of Waiheke.

The place itself is awesome, beautifully decorated, with a cozy open area where you can lay down under the shade of olive trees.

Food was also great. Me and my partner tried the set menu, with a reasonable amount of food (more than we could eat). All ingredients were fresh and cooked almost to perfection.

Strongly recommended to everyone who goes to Waiheke!

This place was absolutely stunning. The aesthetic of this place is unique sand beautiful.

My brother braving me here and I absolutely fell in love with it. Walking in creates the sense of being in another country which is alway fantastic.
The drinks were amazing and the food was even better.
We eat:
Chorizo Blanco
Albondigas: free range pork meatballs
Lamb and fig tajine
Harissa sautèed prawns and squid.

The stand outs were definitely the albondigas. They were so good that we ended up ordering another 2 servings of them.

The customer service here was impeccable. They were all so lovely and attentive and they added greatly to the all round perfect meal we experienced.

Nice atmosphere and food! We arrived at 12ish and was nearly full. We sat down at a table near the door side. We ordered five tapas for shared around our four people and all of them were quite good. I loved the seafood paella best for it had good proportion of seafood matched with the well-cooked rice.
Well definitely come here again next time.

I am easily impressed and am not quite a foodie - so I enjoyed the hell out of my visit, enjoying the beauty and indulgence of a vineyard lunch. I came with a friend and we sat by the window, where there were beautiful views of the vineyard and the sea. The seating area is spacious, and the decor is rustic chic. The waiter was delightfully polite with a touch of charisma, and made ordering super easy. We shared a bottle of their own perfectly dry Rose. The best part of the meal was the entree of bread and their own olive oil. My god. The bread was so beautiful - crunchy and squishy and flavorsome - and to be honest I would have been happy eating a loaf of that for lunch. BUT, my foodie training called and I moved on to more complicated dishes. The goats cheese croquettes were nicely sweet and crunchy, and the pork meatballs spicy and tender. The roast carrots weren't quite roasted enough, unfortunately, and the accompanying cheese was a bit rich. We had the ox cheek for a main. We both found it a bit fatty - though that may be the nature of ox cheek. The herby salad was much needed by that stage, as everything had been oily and rich, and did the job well.

This place was fantastic value for delicious food and an amazing setting - and was classy without being stuffy. I would totally go back and try their other (less rich) dishes. Thanks so much for an A+ boozy lunch!

I came to casita miro for a wine tasting and was amazing as soon as we walked through the doors. Such a beautiful building that has been really we thought out. We were seating in the outdoor Mosaic courtyard which was incredible. All done by the family who owns the winery. The set up for the wine tasting was beautiful. We had four tastings which were all nicely paired with tapas. I am really looking forward to coming back and tasting more of their food and wine and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere. I love that it is a small family owed business, everyone is so kind and happy

Very very memorable venue for me. It's a Spanish deco vineyard. The menus to match. So are the wines. Their set menu is excellent. It's reasonably priced. Wow what more can I say! This is a true gem of Waiheke. Tucked away within their vineyard, this place looks like it has been transplanted straight out of Spain or Italy. It is beyond stylish with a massive conservatory style restaurant serving delicious tapas meals, including octopus, goat’s cheese, pork belly, and my absolute favourite the meringue with summer berries! Even an amateur diner like myself can appreciate the uniqueness of this experience!

Went in for a Saturday lunch and was greeted by a very friendly and helpful staff. We got a table easily as it just after noon. Shortly after we were seated, an Argentinian waiter came to our table to talk us through the menu and gave us very helpful recommendations. He was very patient with our questions and his recommendations are great!

We order 4 different tapas and all of them taste great (the patatas wasn't in the photo)! The few things that i didn't really like though are the fact that they might have used frozen prawns so that kinda ruin the whole texture (too 'refined' and 'smooth') and the sweetness of the prawn wasn't very prominent. Frozen prawns have that smooth skin which kinda taste too artificial, if you know what I mean. Also the texture of the hummus dip that came with the bread that we ordered was too smooth for my liking. I personally like it a tad chunkier so there's extra texture to it. But that's totally my personal preference. I find that they are trying to refine the food but somehow I feel that Spanish tapas should feel very rustic and anything-goes.

Overall I would give the staff a 10, ambience a 10, and food 8. Would definitely go back again to try other dishes!

A perfect evening - couldn't fault it. The service was excellent and the food matched. Being a touch lazy we decided to order the Fiesta Menu for two. Each dish was presented perfectly and the time between servings was spot on. My favorite was the Ox Cheek. The meal was beautifully complemented by the selection of Miro wines on offer.
If you want to celebrate a special night out on Waiheke then I suggest you book a dinner here.

We came here to simply drink. And I have to say it's the best Syrah I have tasted ever! We purchased a bottle to takeaway, easy decision. The Sauvignon Blanc was good, but I have had better.

The service and environment was 10/10... We had the best waitress (Mid 20's, Short hair!!!) Give that girl a pay rise, she helped charge my phone and just knew how to manage her customers going the extra mile. Service was easy and friendly. Funny, got served by another guy with no training, couldn't pour properly, didn't know any of the wines and how to use the till. She came along and look after me in under 1 min! Brilliant!!!!!
We sat outside on a blanket, with a table looking out onto the vineyard. Very happy!

Only negative is that we couldn't order nibbles to eat there.

Wine we drank..:)

We do a lot of family holidays at Waiheke and when we are over there we usually try and eat a meal out at a vineyard, so we have tried most of them over the years. Casita Miro is definitely my favourite, I love the quirky style glass building, mosaic path out the back and tables set into the hill so you can sit on the grass and drink wine and have a light snack. The food is amazing from the bread and dips to the churros to finish. I have been here so many times but will keep coming back!

I came to Casita Miro for lunch during a Waiheke wine tour. Let's just say I really needed some food after so many glasses of wine...

There were seven of us and despite being peak lunch hour, I felt like we were well looked after. Our orders came out quickly which was good because we were all getting a bit hangry! I saw seafood paella on the menu and knew instantly that that was my meal. Others shared dishes between them, and I got this for myself... I have no shame. I really liked the paella! Seafood was fresh and the meat on the fish was cooked perfectly. It was also a favourite around the table as other couples got the dish to share between them.

Great service, food and such a lively restaurant! The decor is also so interesting! I spent a good five minutes looking around and there was definitely a lot more to admire and marvel at. Everything I've mentioned and the fact that there was an absolutely ADORABLE cat sitting on one of the chairs next to me, made this a wonderful experience. I'll definitely be back to try more dishes!

I think while it’s important to review a not-so-great experience, it’s also incredibly valuable when you take the time to give appreciation and thanks for a positive one. We stumbled upon Casita Miro by chance (on our way to Obsidian) and what a lucky discovery it was! If you’re taking a local bus to get to the restaurant, like we did, you’ll get dropped off along Onetangi beach and the quickest way to get up to there is along seventh ave, tackling the steep set of stairs set into the hill. Turn right at the top and follow the road until you see the sign to turn left into the driveway for the restaurant. While some might consider it a mission to get there it’s definitely worth the hike! Plus you get stunning views of Onetangi beach and beyond from the top of the hill. From there, just follow a sloping driveway to the cutest little villa, brimming with sunshine and good vibes.

Food is designed for sharing (tapas style). We tried the bread (homemade foccacia) and dips (don’t bother with the beetroot one) and a small bowl of the honey marinated olives. For our main we ordered 3 plates between us. Falafels (divine!), a lamb rump special with babaganoush and seafood paella (a very decent portion size, more than enough for three people). I complemented the meal with a glass of 2013 Miro (Miro, Cabernet, Merlot, Franc, Malbec) a really robust wine, that made me want to buy quite a few bottles afterwards. Beautiful service too.

Wine tasting of five wines with a food pairing for each is also a delightful experience. I've already been to visit twice in two weeks and I'm looking forward to my next visit already. I'm keen try the ox cheek, pork belly and delicious looking desserts next!

Beautiful winery restaurant on top of a hill at Waiheke Island. The owners have a real passion for all things Spanish - from the artwork around the dining room to the handmade mosaics adorning the tasting area. As a large group, we went for the Fiesta shared tapas menu. So many good dishes from chorizo, prawns, tomato salad and olives. Mains were seafood paella which had meaty chunks of fresh fish, then braised ox cheek where the meat just pulled apart so easily. Really nice place - took a little longer than we liked from tapas to main but still a fantastic venue and meal.

This place is a little hidden gem and I'm so glad we found it. We had actually gone for lunch somewhere nearby but the food was terrible so we searched for somewhere nearby to go to instead and we are so happy it worked out this way. Good range of craft beers (although not sure how Boundary road appeared on the list) and Spanish / Waiheke wines.

Great meats and hams and also must mention the gin and tonic.

Casita Miro is like a little piece of Barcelona right on Waiheke.  Me and 3 of my other companions shared a few "carne" dishes - the tangine, braised ox cheek and pork belly which were cooked to mouth watering perfection.  The meat was so tender and easily fell apart.  We also had some delicious dips and breads and a falafel dish that had a delicious cashew cream.  Great tasting non-alcoholic beverages - I really enjoyed my iced peach tea.  The service was so lovely, warm and professional.  If the meals were a bit bigger then Casita Miro would be receiving a 5 star legendary review!  There are no qualms about taste, but it would be nice to leave with my appetite sated - be prepared to spend a bit if you are looking for a meal.  Casita Miro will definitely be my go to place for a drink and a light meal.

Casita Miro is one of those hidden places that no one knows about unless you're actively looking for it. Transport here is a bit annoying as it is right in the middle of Waiheke but it is well worth it. The ambience makes you feel like you're in Spain. On a nice sunny day, I would recommend going outside and sitting in the garden area out back overlooking the vineyards. The good is great and the staff are very nice :)

What a beautiful restaurant and a very special experience. But the prices are way over the top - Casita Miro, get over yourself! We had a lovely range of dishes - ham, cheese, dips. Lamb, falafels, tomato.....all amazing especially the falafel and tomato dishes. The staff are superb, and the building and setting are stunning. I would rate a 5 if they weren't so greedy!

Service was great and the ambience was lovely. Had a coffee, good. Hot chocolate is more like a ganache- but this is how it is supposed to be. It's also very rich. Had churros and panacotta. Churros were coated in sugar, cinnamon powder, but was not very sweet, so they were OK. Panacotta was done with a jelly on top, where all the flavour was concentrated, and the panacotta base was flavourless: would have been good to have some flavour in the base, or make the jelly layer a bit thicker: it was only about a centimetre when the base was about 6 cm, so disproportional. Will be back to try the main meals and wine though :-)

As soon as you step through the doors of Casito Miro, it's hard not to imagine that you've been transported to Barcelona, Spain. The dining room is a architectural feat perched high up on a hillside overlooking steep rolling vineyards with glimpses of the sea and large glass walls to let in all day sunshine. There is a sweeping bar along one side of the room adorned with hanging air-dried legs of ham, white papel picado flags strung across the ceiling beams and the back wall covered in a flocked red patterned wallpaper where a large white clock sits slightly off-center.  The isolation of the location gives an air of exclusivity but fear not, it is most definitely not pretentious as this is offset not only by the mismatched crockery and tableware, but the wonderful relaxed and welcoming nature of all of the staff.  While it may sound amazing so far, it's the actually detailed mosaic artwork lining up to an outdoor dining/tasting area reminiscent of Gaudi's Park Güell that's really impressive.

The food is matched perfectly to the surroundings with tapas style food being served.  Being tapas, food comes as it is prepared and shared between all diners, making for a very relaxed communal dining style.  We ordered the Kalamata olives braised with honey, red wine and lemon zest ($6) with Cat's homemade bread and selection of up to four dips ($10-22) we opted for a two options - a romesco and a beetroot dip.  These were delightful bites to start with.

Following on from this we had vine ripened tomatoes with crumbled goat curd, pesto and crispy buckwheat ($14).  This was the most simple of all the dishes ordered but also the most delicious.  Thick slices of tomato were complemented with creamy goat curd, luscious oily pesto and the crispy buckwheat gave just the right amount of contrast in texture.  The falafel with coriander, pickled mushrooms, black sesame, herbs, carrot and cashew nut purée ($22) was another one of the groups’ favourites – I particularly enjoyed the cashew nut purée.  It wouldn't be a Spanish meal without sampling the paella (with pan roasted market fish and saffron, sea kelp, lemon and mussels ($26)).  This dish was full of seafood flavour with the rice tainted a beautiful golden colour from the saffron.  The lamb and fig tagine with Lebanese couscous, house made lamb-bacon, pistachio, apricot and yogurt ($26) fell apart when cut into and the sweetness of the fruit matched well the savoury meaty components of the dish.  We also ordered the harisssa roast potatoes with aioli ($10) and chermoula prawns ($18.50) served with bread to soak up the all the lovely pan juices.

An almost secret item on the menu (as it is listed right at the bottom of the hot drinks section on the drinks menu) is the Casita Thick Spanish Hot Chocolate ($8).  This is no ordinary hot chocolate but a heavenly concoction of dark chocolate whipped into an almost thick pudding topped with orange zest.  It is best eaten slowly with a teaspoon to truly savour the deliciousness!

Casito Miro is a little off the beaten track but worth the trip.  It is a great location for a relaxed lunch/dinner or as a stop off between visiting vineyards.  The staff make you feel at home and are knowledgeable about the food on offer providing a satisfying dining experience.  Definitely put this on your list of places to visit next time you’re on Waiheke Island.

Hands down one of my all time favourite restaurants! It's worth the travel to go to Waiheke for their food, service and ambiance.

I can find no fault with this place. The food was amazing! They are even able to make the humble potato into delectable morsels. Service was warm, friendly and helpful; completely unpretentious! The restaurant overlooking the vineyard made a stunning landscape; decorations in the courtyard with the olive trees were added authenticity. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and I will definitely be going back there!

Firstly, the food was outstanding - everything you could hope for from a classy Spanish vineyard restaurant. Secondly, the venue is just lovely.
Wall to wall windows create a light and welcoming space, where they have a lovely range of Spanish decor that completes the experience. And all set in beautiful grounds, with very Barcelona style outdoor areas too.

My favourite dish was the Salt Baked Beetroot, with Smoked yoghurt, lentils and fresh dates. A beautifully delicious combination of flavours.

My second favourite was the hand-made bread, which was stunning, dipped in a beautiful oil (though the other two dips weren't my fave kind of flavours). My third fave dish was the patatas bravas which were beautifully prepared - I loved them. I would also be praising the 'Heritage tomatoes' dish, because I loved the aubergine purée and pickled courgettes, but instead of being served with chickpeas as listed on the menu, it came with barley instead - which my tummy doesn't tolerate - so that was a shame. However, the eggplant puree was divine!

The service was incredibly warm and friendly, and the main woman who served us was brilliant. Only other point for improvement was that I would rather be given the 'per glass' amount of wine as shown on the menu ($8, I think) as opposed to a surprise full glass for $15 (my driving friend couldn't finish her wine) which was a disappointment on the bill.

Final point is that they do AMAZING coffee.
I would definitely recommend Casita Miro as a beautiful restaurant experience.

Some of the best Tapas on the island in front of a clear view across the gulf to Little Barrier.

The service matched the food and they worked hard to get us a table at late notice.

Some of the standouts were the pork and cauliflower small plates.

Well worth the taxi ride out.

An interesting option for lunching out when on the island - great tapas and larger plates, a good selection of wines from both their own vineyard, others on Waiheke plus some Spanish imports. We had a knowledgable and professional young waiter who knew his stuff and looked after us well. The food was good, and just the right quanitities. The wine tastings take place in the same space, along the long bar that runs down one side - which makes it a bit crowded and a tad overwhelming when one first walks in - the acoustics and a few larger groups meant it was pretty noisy too - not really the place for a quiet or romantic lunch more fun, and buzzing... try the Sherry Flight - a tasting of five very different sherries for a mere $10 - recommended. Sherry, but not as your nan knows it...

Came here on a winter Saturday with two young toddlers (over tired) at around 11.30am. Expected it to be empty so didn't bother booking. Turned out it was fully booked, however, extremely friendly manager and waitress managed to fit us in, food was absolutely amazing, and the wait staff fantastically tolerant.

Reasonably priced as well.

No response to on-line request for reservation made the day before.
No response to telephone call asking about reservation (just got an answering machine).
Turned up hoping there might be room (we were a party of 6) and found they were expecting us.
So poor organization if you want to rely on making a reservation.

Once we there the food and service was excellent.

The only beer was Waiheke's own Baroona pale ale which went well with the tajin. The rose wine was also good. Advertised as "low alcohol" it was 11.5% v/v which is barely different from any other wine.

Restaurant situated in a fabulous location.Entrance is typically Spanish- imposing iron and glass doors leading into a large cheery open room. A long island counter where you can sit for a drink and tapas. Room has wooden floors and a high vaulted ceiling so noise does reverberate around the room once a few wines have been had, by late night patrons!
Tapas are really tasty, good to share - most between four, but staff will advise you.The roasted stuffed pepper was to die for. Main course - we had the lamb on couscous, chicken with beans, swiss chard and a salad. Lamb tender and succulent; Chicken - a very generous portion but not alot of meat in the dish. tasty though. Couldn't fit a dessert in! Overall a relaxed, homely and tasty meal. Staff very helpful and friendly-the antithesis of another well known winery, with mud in its name, !

We had a birthday celebration at Casita Miro, We did the 4 course chefs choice which was fantastic. The only thing I would have changed was the mixed seafood for the main. Although most of us loved it, when you have a group of nine people you are bound to find some that are not so keen on Seafood but happy to have seafood as a smaller course but not as a main for so many.
The staff were amazing, very friendly, helpful and a great sense of fun. We will definitely be back - again..

I think I've found my new favorite restaurant, by accident ! On driving down Seaview road in Waiheke in the evening last week, I saw out the corner of my eye a glass structure on the side of the hill over looking a vineyard in the sunset. This was the beginning of the culinary love affair.
Googled Casita Miro that night, first date was lunch the next day. I could rave on about every dish we had, but why spoil the surprise ! lets just say that I booked for dinner the next night and took more friends along who were equally smitten t !
This place is the whole deal, the setting, the building, the food, the wine, the staff, all top notch, I'm giving it an overall 15 out of 10
Do ya self a flavor and go there, as lunch and dinner offer a whole different visual experience, best you find a place to stay overnight and do both.
You wont regret it

Wow, this place is definitely one to visit. The most delightful dining experience with friends set amongst olive tree's and vines giving you that feeling that you are on a Spanish hillside halfway around the world.

The menu was extensive and while i would normally play it safe we all decided to put our trust in the chef with ordering the chef's choice. We definitely weren't disappointed. The dishes were explained in detail when served and each had its unique flavour and were the talking points for days, esp the bread and the caramelised walnuts which really should be bottled and sold as these were just delicious and worth a trip to Waiheke in itself. All accompained by a few glasses of the full bodied 2005 Archipelago. Excellent.

Thank you for making our long awaited girls lunch out so relaxed, friendly and memorable. We look forward to returning soon.

Time for some "just us" time said The Beloved.
Somewhere beautiful, romantic, peaceful and not too far away. With good restaurants and great picnic spots.

Waiheke was a brilliant choice. We were blessed with gorgeous weather and the chance to try Casita Miro for lunch. Had heard good things from Waiheke based friends.

It's a slightly quirky, casually elegant, high ceilinged glass walled room, tucked in to the side of the hill with olive groves behind and views down the vine covered valley to the sea.
Perfect.

The greeting was warm, service faultless and one of the owners, the charming Cat Vosper, stopped by our table to chat.

We matched our tapas with Miro wines although other wines are available, and loved the Viognier in particular.

The food? Spanish Mediterranean tapas.
An emphasis on what is fresh and local.

Excellent bread, baked on site, well flavoured tapas, the scallops in saffron butter sauce are worth making the boat trip for. A dish of prawns almost rivalled them.
The beef in a spicy, mysterious Moroccan sauce was heady and delish but the highlight was the dessert of beautifully sweetened grilled figs with a glass of their delicious Madame Rouge.

Get there. It's a gem.

I live on Waiheke and always bring guests I want to impress to Casita Miro. The food is imaginative and scrumptious - the chef seems to have a way of creating food that satisfies your culinary sense of adventure and your taste buds in one brilliant coup. A dip made of roast carrot, parsnip, feta and sundried tomatoes? Not my first thought of a delightful combo - but DAMN! Not to mention the wicked Lamb and Fig Tagine - lucky the plates don't have patterns on them or I would have scraped them off using that gorgeous home-made foccacia... The service is peerless - Cat is a wonderful hostess and I really recommend you TRUST the woman by ordering a chef's special. You'll be surprised and delighted every time.

I have now been to Casita Miro several times, the last time was on New Years eve, and have yet to leave without a huge smile on my face. I just love the food they do there and in particular the Moroccan lamb and beef - I have even tried without success to convince them to give me the recipe. Excellent wines, food and delightful service make this my favourite place on the island.

This was our first visit since the change of chef and we were not disappointed. We took a group of fifteen friends following a morning at the Headland Sculpture exhibition. We were all hungry and took their suggestion that we opt for the "Chefs Choice". We were treated to a mouthwatering parade of tapas that were plentiful, creative and simply divine! Washed down with the vineyard Rose in a setting reminiscent of Tuscany. No wonder our friends have not stopped raving about it!

Our second lunch time visit to Casita Miro and consistently excellent. We were overwhelmed for choice of the Tapas style dishes and elected to go for the Chef's choice. This proved to be a great decision although one would not need to have had a late breakfast as the dishes were plentiful. Casita Miro's Bordeaux style wine as part of the Chef's Choice menu option was a perfect match. Attentive but not obtrusive service and the Mediterranean atmosphere ensures this a must when we return.

This is an amazing place for a yummy and healthy-feeling lunch in waiheke island. The mesclun salad sounds simple but is a gastronomic delight, the calamari was melt in the mouth and the cauliflower with the salty almonds and sweet sultanas was delicious but the big winner was the dip selection. The whole table voted the romesco dip as top dog but the olive oil was to die for as we're the spinach pesto and pumpkin and feta dips. The wine wasn't like your usual winery tasting and worked out to be more expensive than the standard $10-for-5-tasters deal but the food more than made up for it. Lovely waitress as well who really helped us with our wine choices.

Visited on Saturday and were seated at the terrace as we didn’t have a reservation. Goats cheese croquettes were amazing. The olives were tender and the olive oil served with focaccia was light and fresh. If you are walking to Obsidian take the short cut past the vines (don’t walk the long way round).

Beautifully decorated tapas restaurant with the freshest ingredients. Seafood was amazing, oysters were shucked from the island itself, prawns and squid were perfectly cooked. However the octopus and the fish in the paella were overcooked - would have otherwise rated a 5. The highlight for me was the garlic butter prawns, I could easily have a plate of that and continue dipping my bread in the sauce. Gorgeous flavours. Service was awesome, knowledgeable and friendly.

Had an amazing experience at Casita Miro for lunch. Made a reservation in advance and had their set menu ($65 per person) for a delicious lunch, as well as their flight of wine for wine tasting. Especially enjoyed their fortified wine, Madame Rouge and bought some back. Service here is also superb. Special mention: I was unfortunately on crutches during my trip here and had difficulties walking up to the location (it was pretty hilly/steep). They were very kind to pick me up from the bottom of the hill and save me from very painful knees and arms. Be sure to plan your transport here! (E.g. taxi/drive/e-bike. Dont bother with Uber here) Would 100% recommend coming here if you're visiting Waiheke Island.
